1. I have stopped buying egyptian goods
maya ,   australia   (04.29.11)
Even refused to go see the Tutenkhamen exibition being held here (that i have wanted to see for years) out of protest. Our trip to egypt was cancelled a few years back when they let their terrorist blow up tourist buses. So I guess another step back for egypt.

3. I hope Egypt is foolish enough to just do it
Joe ,   Ohio, USA   (04.29.11)
I'll be standing in front of the White House demanding that the President dispatch the entire US navy to help Israel punish them for their treachery. After the Sinai falls then deport every flea bitten Egyptian AND Pali across the canal where they belong.
4. 'Candidates using sensitive issue to appease masses' ,...

6. How come the issue of the relations between Egypt and Israel
Tsair ,   South   (04.29.11)
is related to the reasons that led to the revolution in Egypt? How come it is at the top of the agenda of all presidential candidates there? Is it the reason for poverty and shortage of Egypt's population? How will cancelling the peace treaty with Israel benefit Egyptian economy and society?
7. Egyptians have very short memory!
Jouko ,   Finland   (04.29.11)
Since the time of Joseph, who saved the whole Egyptian nation, Egyptians forget again and again how much Israel has helped them. Not to forget how the Israeli army could have destroyed the 3. division of Egyptian army during Yom Kippur war.
8. Jerusalem not Tel Aviv
Barney ,   USA   (04.29.11)
9. Treaty
daz ,   uk   (04.29.11)
The treaty was never supported by the Egyptions only dictators Sadat and Mubarak. Now Egypt is a democracy the people will decide the future of this treaty.
10. Nr 9, Daz from UK
Serge ,   Antwerp, Belgium   (04.29.11)
Elected politicians have to manage the country in the best way for their people, not what the people want. A great statesman is he who pushes unpopular, but necessary reforms.
11. peace with Egypt is here to STAY
Rami of Nazareth ,   Israel   (04.29.11)
peace is an Egyptian strategic interest as much as it is an Israeli one. It is there to stay....

Eaglebeak ,   Left Coast, USA   (04.29.11)
Before you start making job suggestions or calling people dumb you might want to learn how to use spell check. Basiouni sounds like he would make a good leader but because he actually wants peace that would benefit Egypt he would most likely end up like Anwar Sadat.
13. #5 split/schizo/wes
BEN JABO ,   ISRAEL   (04.29.11)
Of course he said TA, Arabs don't recognize Jerusalem as the Capital Any fool knows that, I'm surprised you didn't #4 At least he and his boss were in charge for an extended period of time, what can you claim for your accomplishments ?
14. Peace with infidels insults Islam...
Steven Gilbert ,   Teaneck NJ   (04.29.11)
it is only temporarily acceptable until such time that the infidels can be conquered Islam rules all.

Begin has sold sinai with all its advantages metioned in the article for a piece of paper for 30 years there was a violation of camp david on behalf of egypt anti semitism in the state media and in the institutions there was no any security cooperation between egypt and israel to curb terrorism except for the last 3 years after hamas invaded sinai on 28 january 2008 there was no diplomatic normalization only the israeli leaders were the ones who were visiting israel except EX-PM Shamir but Mubarek has never visited israel as a president except only during the funeral of late PM Rabin and now after all these years of violation of camp david the egyptians want to reverse the treaty why ?? because they dont stand the jewish state and dont accept it the treaty was a tactic to return sinai no more no less i hope that all the leftists and (peace) seekers to wake up and stop talking about giving up any inch of land especially the land of israel i hope that next elections the left will get zero seats say amen shalom

fad egypt   (04.29.11)
you are wrong when sadat visited jerusalem in 1977 he recieved a hero welcome by the egyptians after the treaty was signed the people approved it in a referendum by a landslide majority the egyptians accepted camp david as a tactic to bring back sinai after the israel is out of sinai they want to reverse it !!!!!!!!!!!! no peace with arabs shalom
18. Egyptian!
Tareq ,   Egypt   (04.30.11)
I see a lot of comments talking about israel helping egyptian ppl israel done favors to egypt bla bla bla ... what the heck are you talking about? you guys take our gas for free so come on and stop repeating the lie of the egyptians' whole-hearted mother Israel!!!
19. #18, Tareq, What Israel is paying for Egyptian gas is double
Tsair ,   South   (05.01.11)
the price paid by Syria and Jordan, and is consistent with the price of gas all over the world. If Israel stops buying Egyptian gas, then Egypt will not only not get the 200 million they want, but also not the 90 million they're getting now, also they will have nowhere to deliver it because they have no alternative clients and no infrastructure for supplying it. Israel's GNP is higher than that of neighbouring countries and Egypt combined (except Saudi Arabia), so Egyptian economy can actually benefit from cooperation with Israel. Economic issues aside, canceling peace is practically a declaration of war. Is this what you really want? We don't. We may not have to be the best of friends, but let us not go to war again. "No more war, no more bloodshed", as Begin said it.
20. To Tareq
for-truth ,   San Rafael, CA   (05.02.11)
I am afraid you don't remember your own history. Under Farouk, Egypt invaded Israel in 1948 and lost. As a matter of fact, Israel withdrew from El-Arish under American and British pressure. In 1967, Nasser threatened Israel and lost Sinai. In 1973, Sadat started the October War, which ended at 100Km from Cairo (on the East of the Suez Canal) and only Kissinger stood between Israel and the total annihilation of the Egyptian 3rd Army. President Sadat was a peace hero who achieved what no other Arab leader did. He got back ALL of Sinai, including the gas and oil fields. As part of the peace treaty, Egypt SELLS gas to Israel. What do you think will happen if Egypt cancels the Peace Treaty? Have you considered the possibility of the Israeli Army entering Sinai again and the Egypt-Israel border being the Suez Canal again?
