1. Oslo Accords
(05.01.11)
where does it say in the Oslo Accords that Israel needs to fund Hamas?
2. good move
Rebecca ,   Modi'in   (05.01.11)
3. This move is an excellent move, one that will be one of...
Jehudah Ben-Israel ,   Qatzrin, Israel   (05.01.11)
...many and more effective moves that Israel must and will apply so long as the PLO's PA doesn't live by the agreements it has reached with Israel and signed.
4. israeli decision
jameel ,   gaza   (05.01.11)
no doubt israel has always the upper hand over the palestinains , but if the fatah and hamas have agreed to unite and form a gov., which will never be a smart move towards israel , will this force abbas to retreat? i as citizen always know that israel will do its best to keep hamas and fateh apart and will ignite all the troubles in order to be able to control the pa , i wonder how hamas can manage the gazans without the money of the taxes and the money which comes from the donors . the pa must try to lower the salaries of its employees who are asleep at home and do nothing but sleeping and producing children the pa must check its policy and stop givivg hiha salaries which may help in overcoming the israeli threats
5. Now, cut electricity to Gaza, and let Egypt supply it.
Noodles ,   Coney Island   (05.01.11)
6. ABOUT TIME, AND LEGAL
Mark from Georgia ,   USA   (05.01.11)
As we all know the Oslo Accords and the Declaration of Principles (DOP) laid a legal framework. The Basis was: 1) that Israel would accept the PLO as the sole representives of the Palestinian people. 2) The PLO would accept Israel right to exist within recognized borders that were to negotiated. 3) The PLO would renounce terrorism, and negotiate in good faith with Israel, plus stop all forms of inciting violence. (they've done real good with number #3, haven't they?) The PLO and Yasser Arafat as the accepted leader, in his letters exchanged with Rabin about the DOP confirmed these principles. Now Hamas a terrorist group, has become part of the government and want to rescind "Israel's right to exist" clause in Oslo and the DOP. So Israel needs to keep the money and not help fund terrorism, it's only common sense. With a firm basis in the law. Not that it (the law) matters to groups like Hamas.
7. Oslo, eh ?
Y.G. ,   Israel   (05.01.11)
When the Fakestinians start whining about the Oslo Accords (as they will), who in the Israeli government will have the cojones to stand up and remind them that Arafat called Oslo 'a Trojan Horse'? Sadly, I fear - no one.
8. According to Oslo there shouldn't be any weapons in Gaza!!
Jehudah Ben-Israel ,   Qatzrin, Israel   (05.01.11)
9. Don't Suspend ,END it for good
Marcel ,   Florida   (05.01.11)
Israel always does half hearted moves while the enemy makes full and far reaching moves. When will the wimps of Israel be removed from power and replaced with real hawks ?
10. come on boys get your skates on
Stu   (05.01.11)
dont loose your momentum, hamas is a terrorist organisation and with fatah joining forces to form a government (oh and santa pray to alla 5 times a day) it should be possible to now call for the international communities to freeze there other bank accounts until further investigations. Be a shame if there people found out just how much money is actually being stolen from them by there beloved leaders
11. transfer
colin`   (05.01.11)
ABOUT TIME Israel is finally doing someting constructive. Now what about water and electricity ???These commodities are used against Israel by Hamas or do the groveling politicians still prefer to give the trerrorists life???
12. # 4 Jameel, "hiha salaries ..."
getitrite!   (05.01.11)
LOL!
13. disagree
Israel Israeli ,   Tel Aviv   (05.01.11)
The fact is that this money legally belongs to the "Palestinian Authority" so Israel's right to take it is questionable. Instead Israel should take action that is legal and in the framework of the agreements. PLO soldiers should be removed from Kever Yosef. All illegal Arab building in Judea and Samaria that Barak and Netanyahu encouraged should be destroyed. And today, the eve of Holocaust Remembrance day, all of Abbas' VIP rights should be suspended in recognition of his doctorate in Holocaust Denial.
14. Steinitz the Stupid
Strangelove ,   TLV   (05.01.11)
Why not wait until things play out. Steinitz, Sarah his boss, and their cabinet of fools will take Israel to hell
15. Annex, if you dare!
Nour ,   Palestine   (05.01.11)
Who stands to benefit the most in the long term from such a reactionary move? Take a pause and study international law.
16. Who else would support their mortal enemies ...
Lee ,   Manchester UK   (05.01.11)
but Israel!? This must be the end of this madness. Don't protect fatah from hamas just let these murderers kill eachother off - save you the job.
17. #15 Nour
solomon ,   bklyn   (05.01.11)
Take your own advice and STUDY international law, instead of assuming it says what you want it to say. The area is under contention; not owned by anyone PER INTERNATIONAL LAW. And nowhere in international law must a State support and feed it's enemies. If Hamas and the PA are united, Israel has every right to react towards the lowest common denominator: Hamas.
18. It's about time.

Absolutely in agreement with you...yeah, just let's... Hi Birdi!
20. 15 - terrorists preaching about international law?
mike ,   israel (formerly usa   (05.01.11)
you're joking, right?
21. How Gaza wiil live without donors?
Ralph Haglund ,   Sweden   (05.01.11)
Exactly as it did while the Israelis lived there. They had lots of greenhouses, they sold lots of the produce to Israel and of the surplus they sold for $100 million to EU a year. Nothing stops the Arabs from doing the same. There was also an industrial zone where lots worked. Restore that. And if they stop terrorism they can have a big harbour for themselves and use the gas fields outside worth a LOT. Or did the Gazans plan to live on baksheesh from others the next century?
22. why ??????
NadMan ,   PALESTINE   (05.01.11)
Nothing happened yet ! The next palestinian Government will not contain members of Fateh nor Hamas, and that is what the agreement between them clearly says. it will be a non-political government !!! Why israel stopped the supply ? i can tell u why. Israel do not want to see a united palestine that force the world to recognize it, israel was happy with the division of Palestine, and it want it to go on forever so there is no Palestine, but it's not whats going to happen, Palestinians are one and will remain. so israel have no right to cut the funds ...
23. It was about time some one did that
Tor Gnon ,   Njamena, Chad.   (05.01.11)
and many more. If palis want a state and are hell bent on declaring it without discussions, then let them feel it: cut funds, cut water, cut electricity. Let their arab neighbours come in and help them if they dare, or if they can. Can't eat your cake and have it at the same time.
24. #15 Nour
Madeleine ,   Rehovot Israel   (05.01.11)
Hold on a minute, Nour. hamas is encouraging Fatah not to recognize Israel, so if we don't exist, how and why shoudl we pay them anything. they forfeited their rights to any legal claim on this money. You want it both ways, don't you. So go and whine to the interntional community.
25. Congratulations Steinitz for action taken.
miri ,   israel   (05.01.11)
It's about time we stopped being so lenient with our enemies ! There must be other avenues to close to them as well.
26. Dangerous This And Dangerous That
JackJ ,   Canada   (05.01.11)
The real Danger is fanatical moslims like the hams and fattwa's. Get Palestinian billionaire Munib al-Masri and all their many MillionAir theives and murderous more in hams criminal organization to pick up the slack . Now we see how truly so called pals are truly living. The steets are flooded with bizzars of food and Western material not to mention their beaches are swarming with top notch restaurants and bars. When a moslim cries foul it seems they are in progress or have already committed a heinous crime, in other words, is what they accuse is what they are actually doing. The main crime is how they destroyed the brains of the hams civilians like they have in N Korea No more support for moslims in this World, their colors are CLEAR now
