There had to have been a connection to the Internet, and probably a satellite phone or two. The U.S. troops brought back some hard drives -- where there are computers, there's likely an Internet connection. I'm not all that interested in the details or the specifics. According to the Drudge Report, President Obama has decided to release at least one photo. Bin Laden -- may his name be cursed throughout eternity -- was shot in the face, so the photograph is going to be graphic. I don't really understand why there is such delicacy about releasing the photographs. If we can look at photographs that were taken when Auschwitz, Dachau and Belsen were liberated, we can look at anything. I'm not that squeamish.

Talula, the phone wasn't at the compound. The article didn't say that. It said a monitored call lead to the courier. I believe I read in another article in NYT or WaPo that they monitored a call that helped them identify who the courier was, which enabled them to then track him ultimately to the compound.

To be sure, I am not definitely squeamish either, and I do hope the reports are true for once. But, come on, Sarah, how many times has the government lied through their teeth with "actual photos" and the people have swallowed hook line and sinker. This release was well timed for Media release and very professional and perhaps even over-dramatic.
