31. #7
Israel Israeli ,   Tel Aviv   (05.05.11)
Saudi Arabia is the mortal enemy of both the Jewish people and the Persian people. Israel is the ally of the American people, but Saudi gifts and money are more important for US politicians. It doesn't matter because the Persians will eventually defeat the Saudis. What will the Americans do then?
32. #29 that's great
Deutronomy 28 ,   World   (05.05.11)

34. #32, #33, et al - Congratulations!
solomon ,   bklyn   (05.05.11)
Congratulations! You have just done what many TB's do when they write gibberish : you accuse others of what you yourself are doing. It is you who lack substance. (Including "just wondering" and then connecting totally disparate 'facts', such as in #32.) And you yourself prove this lack of substance in #33!
35. #38 Neuteronomy
BEN JABO ,   ISRAEL   (05.05.11)

38. And in return, Israel's cup has been filled to..............
Cameron ,   USA   (05.05.11)
overflowing with American aid and largesse over the decades. Neither side has the right to start sniveling.

Again with your nonsense. Of course Pakistan has operational spies in the United States. The Pakistani government is plain terrified that the United States will do the smart thing and improve its strategic ties to India. With "friends" like Pakistan, the United States doesn't need an enemy. Besides, Pakistan is weak and unstable, in areas such as Waziristan and along the Hindu Kush, the concept of being "Pakistani" is non-existent; tribal affiliations rule and -- most importantly -- the most violent and rabidly anti-American brand of Islam comes out of Pakistani madrassas.

Selling American technology? Why on earth would Israel do that? Israeli technology is just as good and, in quite a few cases, even better. It is the Americans who turn around and make Israeli technology available to countries that Israel would prefer not have the Israeli-developed technology that the U.S. is rather liberally sharing, certainly with NATO. Predictably enough, you have it all backwards.

I don't think it is possible to have a modern state if you are still lopping off the hands of thieves, beheading people in the public square and have laws which prohibit women from going out of doors unless accompanied by a male relative. Saudi Arabia adheres to a very stark Wahhabist brand of Islam; until that changes, they will remain an extremely primitive country -- no matter how many palaces and skyscrapers they build; no matter how much oil they pump out of the ground will alter this fact.

You know perfectly well how U.S. aid to Israel is structured, and you know perfectly well that the United States benefits greatly from investing in Israel. Do you remember how the Saudis rewarded the United States when we had the Enron crisis and vast shortages of home heating oil and other petroleum products? They lowered production and jacked up the price per barrel. Do you remember how the Pakistanis rewarded the United States for helping them get rid of Zia al-Haq? They promptly started destabilizing the Kashmir, allowing Abdul Qadeer Khan to export Pakistani nuclear technology to places that it is in no one's interest have such technology and over the strenuous protests of the United States, they actively support the Taliban while assuring the United States that they are doing no such thing .... the list is endless. No one is sniveling. The United States had reaped mightily from its relationship with Israel. Please tell me what benefit has accrued to the United States through its relationship with Saudi Arabia and Pakistan. Relationships are only real and effective when they are two-way streets. Traffic with respect to Saudi Arabia and Pakistan is strictly one-way.

Hey, don't you flash yer fangs at me, babe. I but spoke a truth. It has always been quite a mutually beneficial alliance, and little basis for whining & sniveling by either party. We have served eachother's ends well, so to speak.

Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (05.05.11)
Oh, honey, those weren't my fangs; those were only my talons. When the fangs come out, trust me -- you'll know. The point I wanted to make is that relationships between sovereign states should be mutually beneficial, and it's perfectly okay for the relationship to be rather like a marriage -- you won't always agree with your spouse, and sometimes the disagreements can be bitter. But all the best marriages have those. I think it was Hemingway who said they heal stronger at the break. Suffice it to say that I don't think the United States should have relationships with countries where not only do we reap absolutely no benefit, but we often also endure flagrant actions by these countries that are decidedly damaging to the best interests, and are disrespectful, of the United States. Those aren't relationships; those are enslavements, and countries such as Pakistan and Saudi Arabia, to name but two; the list is far longer; laugh all the way to the bank. I find that offensive.
45. #36 what passage Ben kalbo?
Deutronomy 28 ,   World   (05.05.11)
Deutronomy 28 ? I have read it many times...especially verses 65 & 66
46. Neuteronomy- You're overly dense
BEN JABO ,   ISRAEL   (05.06.11)
You're citing the wrong portion of the bible Deuteronomy 33:27 The eternal God is your refuge, and underneath ...He will force your enemies out of your way and tell you to destroy them. .... but gives orders to destroy them, and does destroy them, and makes his people ... and shall say, destroy them; the Canaanites: to do which the people of Israel ... from earthly perishing objects; that we may not have our lot with Israel's ... bible.cc/deuteronomy/33-27.htm Now GFY !
47. Accurate analysis
Shalom Freedman ,   Jerusalem Israel   (05.06.11)
This is an accurate analysis. It does however raise a problem in regard to American foreign policy. The long- term alliance with Saudi Arabia means the U.S. has long supported a regime whose fundamental values are in deep contradiction with its own. In other words the very support of 'Saudi Arabia' is an indictment of the U.S. The downplaying of Saudi anti- Americanism, Jihadi Wahabism even in America itself is a part of this hypocritical policy.
