1. Steinberg's hasbara is futile!
Ben Alofs ,   Bangor, UK   (05.05.11)
Even without the Goldstone Report and the desperate attempts by the Israeli army to prevent journalists from reporting from the Gaza Strip during "Cast Lead" the world witnessed the extent of the Israeli war crimes in the Gaza Strip. It was the straw that broke the camel's back. The scenario, in which influential European countries, like the UK and France, are going to recognize a Palestinian state in the territories Israel occupied in 1967, coming September, is one of the consequences of Israel's war crimes in the Gaza Strip. The world is sick and tired of the bloodshed and wants to enforce the two state solution. Coinciding with the Arab Spring it is the right time to enforce the State of Palestine. The world knows that the historical injustice inflicted upon the Palestinian people is one of the enduring causes for resentment and anger in the Arab and Islamic world against the West. Address this cause and there is a much bigger chance for a more peaceful and prosperous future, which is of course of benefit to Israel as well. Steinberg, instead of your futile hasbara, you better pack your suitcase, because Bar-Ilan University is in occupied Palestine. Unless of course you would want to apply to become a Palestinian citizen. You may just find the Palestinians in a generous enough mood!
2. HRW
Jorge ,   Israel/USA/Argentina   (05.05.11)
When an institution is biased on one side, all the conclusions, activities, forum and recommendations are useless. HRW is a waste of money, it will be better to relocate all the members in Mc Donald, Burger King, Starbuck, Donkit Donut or another restaurant so they are not out of job. They will be good workers
3. You proved your point, Ben!
Joe ,   London, UK   (05.05.11)
Your last statement (YOUR QUOTE: .....because Bar-Ilan University is in occupied Palestine. Unless of course you would want to apply to become a Palestinian citizen. You may just find the Palestinians in a generous enough mood!) actually proves how you are so ignorant of the facts, unless you actually intended this, as well. Bar Ilan Universitity sits on the outskirts of Tel Aviv. You imply from your point as below regarding the lecturer, that palestine, (wherever that name came from, but that's a different issue) which is their ultimate aim, wants to throw Israel into the sea, is to take over Tel Aviv, too? My point: palestine has no interest in the west bank..you can see how interested they where when gaza was given to them and what has happened since..it's a mess of their own making.. palestine wants to rid of Israel and take over, lock stock and Bar Ilan, too, as you implied.
4. #1 please explain
Israel Israeli ,   Tel Aviv   (05.05.11)
Please compare Israel's actions in Gaza against Hamas to Cameron's actions in Libya and Afghanistan. Points to consider: legality of the attacks (self-defense vs. imperialism) collateral damage (33% in Cast Lead, to 66% UK attacks) Also who are the Palestinian people, you mean Arab immigrants to Israel during the British occupation? What injustice was done to them, you mean that in 1948 they lost a war of genocide they started in the 1920s?
5. # 1 Ben Gurion is in Ramat Gan
Thomas ,   US   (05.05.11)
A town developed on land bought from the Arabs beginning in 1914. I'm glad the "Palestinians" might be in a generous mood to allow the Jews to stay on land they bought, rather than steal it through violenc as the tried in several wars.
6. to #1 the jews were murdered in the old city
ghostq   (05.05.11)
of jerusalem until 1964, there is brother grave of in the jewish quarter, the jews didn't have water they used rain water and food wasn't anywear, the eat hearb from the side of the road, I think this bad situation is good enough reason to unite the jews in the old city with the rest of the villages. and you Brits actually created the situation, you gave money and amunition to the jordanians in 1948 the Latron battle the jordanian army was still under the royal British comman, how brits created the refugee camps and blame others for their own creation.
7. Too little Too late
IlanaB   (05.05.11)
Great and true article. Too bad the world has deaf ears. Three cheers for the IDF-the best and MOST moral army in the universe. May the liars and proganda-ists rot in hell.
8. Apologies to all re post # 1
Ben Alofs ,   Bangor, UK   (05.05.11)
Oops, I clearly have an off day. Bar-Ilan University is of course in Ramat Gan near Tel Aviv. I mixed this up with Ariel University in the Westbank. Silly mistake! Please ignore the passage where I invite Gerald Steinberg to pack his suitcase.
9. What the whole world have missed
dino ,   lebanon   (05.05.11)
It's not only the goldstone report that is going wrong... The original sin in global politics is leaving the soviet union alive after world war II. This is the pact with the devil, this is what refrained democracy of spreading worldwide, the west decided that it was time it enjoys the prosperity of victory and decided to neglect the rise of autocracy. Today it is no longer russia, it is a new hybrid combining the methods of the soviets with the hypocrisy of the islamic rulers hiding behind the common hatred toward the people of god "Israel". unfortunately moral values only exist in the holy land; it is no longer present in europe or the states, which only know how to embrace the power of oil interest in the middle east
10. @8 Ben's apology: Yup, we'll ignore you
Carl ,   USA   (05.05.11)
Not only your little "oops" but the rest of your hateful diatribe as well. You clearly don't get the main point of Goldstone's belated retraction that Israel did NOT in fact commit war crimes. All his "evidence" was based on a house of cards fabricated by NGOs staffed by people such as yourself with an anti-Israel agenda. So how about packing your bags.
11. #1 Your Fundamentalism is Invisible to You
Dallas ,   Canada   (05.05.11)
That's what brainwashing does to the mind - many mental problems by definition cannot be recognized by the affected mind. "Human rights" is nowadays known by clear thinkers to have been carried to such an extreme that the medicine has become the disease.
12. Ben Alofs - silly!
CC   (05.05.11)
If you blatantly lie in one thing, what hinders you not to do it maliciously in every other instance, incl. your blood libels vis-á-vis Israel??!
13. Benny #8
Gee ,   Zikron Yaakov   (05.05.11)
Just proves what Mr. Steinberg has been saying all along. You and the rest of the supporters of war-criminals are short on facts and long on ignorance and outright lies. Goldstone and the racist "NGOs" misstated international laws and ignored the facts. Just like you. We are used to your lies and racist diatribes.
14. #1 Bad news, Ben
Stephen in New York   (05.05.11)
Regardless of what the UN does or does not do in September, Israel will thrive. On existential issues regarding the survival of Israel the UN –and you, Ben- have no standing. Since you’re apparently driven by ideology, objective reality may be not only elusive, but also irrelevant.
15. a pill hard to swallow
Ricardo ,   USA   (05.05.11)
Israel will thrive and prosper..for eternity. It is her destiny and duty...THIS is the source of their hate. sorry for them?
16. #8 that is your problem. You are hateful and on top of
Frank ,   California USA   (05.05.11)
it also ignorant. However, you are who you are. We don't ask you to change. You can continue with your venomous outbursts. Regardless, Jews will stay Jewish, proud, sophisticated, just and noble while your kind will continue to spew out the puss day in and day out.
17. #1 & #8 Your comments are as stupid as you can get
Phil ,   Ireland   (05.05.11)
You accuse Israel of war crimes in Gaza (which was based on lies) but say nothing about Hamas human rights abuses in Gaza. Why do you not condemn their call for the killing of Jews by Muslims as stated in Article 7 of their Charter? Your comments are so ignorant that you think you saying Bar-Ilan University is in occupied Palestine is "a silly mistake" and you were "having an off day" but why do you not condemn Hamas for saying all of Israel is occupied Palestine? They claim Bar-Ilan University IS in occupied Palestine. Your comments are nothing moronic drivel, driven only by your anti-Semitic extreme right wing stance which has no place in this world. You were not having an "off day", you were being true to your real beliefs, spewing your usual hatred like an old putrid windbag.
18. Let's hope Ben (Alofs) that your medical
Robert Haymond ,   Israel/Canada   (05.05.11)
diagnoses are (much) more objective than your political ones. Or, if they are not, let's hope that you are no longer practicing medicine and are just enjoying your retirement in Wales while riding your favourite anti-Israeli, pro-Hamas hobbyhorse.
19. To all my detractors, please understand my condition
Ben Alofs ,   Bangor, UK   (05.06.11)
It is one of those days when I forgot to take the most important morning medicine. I have just swallowed it, and I feel much better. Please accept my apologies for the uncalled for comments I made before. Dr. Alofs Patient in Psychiatric Ward Ysbyty Gwynedd Hospital
20. Dr Alofs! Do take a day off when you have an off day.
Harry Wright ,   UK   (05.06.11)
That does help in mental conditions of your type. Look at the bright side - there might be some who might miss your baiting too. Absence makes the heart grow fonder and so on and so forth. The responses to your posts can be so enlightening, I swear there is method in your madness. I wish you a better day tomorrow.
21. Dear old Gerald
Ussishkin ,   Tel Aviv Israel   (05.06.11)
This professor of Conflict Management and Negotiation is the intellectual face of the reactionary right whose antics do little to manage conflict or negotiate its resolution. Human rights are anathema to him and he has found perfect Knesset partners who are witch-hunting and trampling all over anything that amounts to freeedom of speech in our nation. The sum total of his contribution to our democracy is to reduce it to a pale shadow that far too many are willing to vaunt whilst allowing it to wither away. Goldstone has been honest twice in his criticism of our behaviour during Cast Lead, but he remains a critic. He did NOT actually retrac his findings, but Gerlad and others have interpreted what he did say to suit their purposes. Goldstone wrote in the Washington Post of April 2'11:"Israel’s lack of cooperation with our investigation meant that we were not able to corroborate how many Gazans killed were civilians and how many were combatants....We made our recommendations based on the record before us, which unfortunately did not include any evidence provided by the Israeli government." In Gerald's eyes any critic is an enemy. This kind of 'with us or against us" stance better suits people who began their public/political careers as bouncers, and not those with an armful of academic credits to their names. NGO monitor does neither this country nor its founder any credit at all.

Elizabeth   (05.06.11)
What a filthy wicked one you are. I'd hate to be in your boots when HE comes to collect and toss out.!
23. Ussishkin #21: Stands to reason
Robert Haymond ,   Israel/Canada   (05.06.11)
that you reside in Tel Aviv. I was in Ashdod at the time. You might become a little more practical, a little more level-headed, when you, in your nifty joint in the rich city of elites, is attacked by mortars and rockets. May make you rethink your criticisms.
24. Ben Alofs again: It occurs to me that
Robert Haymond ,   Israel/Canada   (05.06.11)
you'd be best off posting only to Maan, where I've read your comments, because here on Ynet we see right through you and have got your number. Just a suggestion, Doctor.
25. Serving in Cast Lead
ussishkin ,   Tel Aviv Israel   (05.07.11)
And I wonder if you'd change your narrow little perspectives if you'd served in Cast Lead and ever asked yourself why the government took so many years to do anything about the rockets and mortars and what made it act when it did and why it didnt heed the advice given it by the Winograd Commission about how to run a diplomatic offensive alongside the military one. So I'll leave you in poor old Ashdod and get back to my ivory tower and my rich elite friends, a number of whom also served in that rotten campaign.
26. What If They Had Stinger Missiles?
Noah Lev ,   HollywoodUSA   (05.07.11)
Look everyone, Israel knew beforehand that the report would be prejudiced agin it, no matter the facts. The years of UN bias influenced Israels decision not to participate. But when things went sour, (which it anticipated) it started whining. Dont we all recall the incident when the father shielded his son from the IDF which was sent around the planet by the Muslim PR machine. Letter it proved a set up, but the damage was done. Now in France, some pro-Zionists are still persuing the matter with the French public. Its too late guys. Israel is always on the defensife..as if to hide something. Sarah Palin told Bibi that it apologizes too much. She is right. Most Jews voted for Obama, and got a pro-Pales Arab sympathizer, who is still learning on the job about the M.E. Had McCain/Palin been Pres/VP, we aall would be better off, including Israel. Obama has lost the M.E for US, Turkey is allied with Syria, and Iran is 1year from anuke blast. Watch those trains guys.. Al Qaeda is watching your weak points., B,D, F, or RR. Your guess.? Bin Ladins death is but the tip of the iceberg. And what if Bin Ladin was out to lunch somewhere. One of 2 copters broke down...oh me oh my. What if, what if some of those guys had Stingers?
27. I fooled everybody
Ussishkin ,   Tel Aviv Israel   (05.07.11)
I never served in Cast Lead in the military. I served in Yesh Gvul documenting the fables Arabs love to tell over the cellphone. Since they didn't see one IDF soldier their descriptions of guns always resembled the AK-47 aka Kalashnikov, and this is how I knew that their stories were fabricated, but it didn't matter to me, it was still good material to sent to gullible Goldstone.
