1. so they admit they have no moral guiding principles
mike ,   israel (formerly usa   (05.07.11)
just anarchical mob rule, but ewe knew that.
2. Resistance ICRC and Article 1(4)
Get over it   (05.07.11)
The right to resistance under international Law
3. There is only one important line in the whole article.
Terry ,   Eilat - Israel   (05.07.11)
Last paragraph, '' White House officials .......blah, blah, blah.'' So, the US is willing to involve Hamas in the ''peace process'' - this says volumes about what the term ''peace process'' really means. So, what the State Dept. is saying is, ''Please, Hamas, lie to us & we'll believe you.'' After all, this is the same administration that accepts Hezbollah as a legitimate part of Lebanon's gov't., the very same administration that has no problem with the Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt. This is what what was done with the PLO & Arafat. Miraculously, a terrorist organization was transformed into a ''partner for peace.'' The hypocrisy positively stinks like the BS it is. You know what else stinks? Our politicians who play along with this charade, this sham, this pack of lies.
4. ''Violence by consensus.''
Terry ,   Eilat - Israel   (05.07.11)
Does this mean that if we in Israel have a ''consensus'' on the use of violence against terrorists & their enablers, it's OK? Reciprocity is an important principle. If it good for them, it's good for us. I would point out that if Hamas & Fatah are ''united'' then we should treat them the same way we treat Hamas.
5. defining violence
Israeli   (05.07.11)
Violence includes all kinds of physical agressive contact including stone throwing. If Palestinians had a total non-violent movement consitant over a long period (months to years), they would gain more popular opinion with the Israelis public to end the occupation. The occupation is only because of Palestinian violence. Most Israelis do not care about greater Israel.
6. heavy talk.
birdi ,   israel   (05.07.11)
hamas expects israel to shake in fear as it plays with words. yes to violence, no to violence; for a bunch of high class crooks in suits, they can take their pathetic jihad and stuff it where the sun dont shine. israel is ready, bring it on hamas. our army, navy, airforce, border police and police are ready and waiting.
7. By the way .....
Terry ,   Eilat - Israel   (05.07.11)
If Netanyahu goes before Congress & makes a speech saying that we can accept inclusion of Hamas in a PA gov't. provided they tell us a bunch of lies just like Fatah, he will undermine everyone who supports Israel in the US. We will have another fine example of an Israeli politician with no backbone, afraid to stand up for any principles, fearful of criticism from our delusional Left, a man who deserves no support & should be expelled from the Likud (if anyone in the Likud had any backbone).
8. Consent of Abbas?
Lippy ,   Proud Israeli   (05.07.11)
"Hamas will not attack Israel without the prior consent of Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas". No more Abbas, no consent required!
9. no violence
gdfathermax ,   tel aviv israel   (05.07.11)
without the approval of abbass. yet more bullshit from the palis. but the world looks for any reason to back them. a weak and pathetic bunch of diplomats since the 1930's
10. "Violent resistance", that is terrorism, a Hamas-Fatah union
Jehudah Ben-Israel ,   Qatzrin, Israel   (05.07.11)
consensus is OK, in other words..., against UN Security Council Resolution, 242; against the Oslo Accords, 1993 and 1995; and, against the Roadap to Peace. Yet, the EU is eager to finance this union and go along with this "consensus" which also stands in contradiction to the Quartet's demand: 1) End to ALL violence and terrorism against Israel, 2) Acceptance of Israel's right to exist, and, 3) Acceptance of agreements with Israel already signed by the parties. How cynical can the EU and perhaps the entire Quartet be...??!! And, with so much cynicism, why should the Jews of Israel and outside of it trust anything that is being uttered by the leaders of the Quartet such as "we stand by Israel's right to exist in security"...?? Sadly, we, Jews, once again, must only rely on ourselves...!! Never Again!!
11. Gilad Shalid
Jacquot ,   TLV   (05.07.11)
1 liberate Gilad Shalid 2 recognize Israel as a Jewish homeland 3 Give up terror or (freedom fighting)
12. Ask them to prove it by releasing Gilad Shalit
(05.07.11)
Instead of saying "We don't buy it", ask them to prove it by releasing Gilad Shalit.
13. #7 Terry: He does have the backbone to stay in power!
David ,   Karmiel, Israel   (05.07.11)
That is all that matters to PM Bibi Netanyahu! He certainly doesn't care about the important issues like running the country, fighting corruption, helping those who are genuinely needy and don't leech on the state, seeing that out people can travel in safety and walk in the streets without being beaten up and so many other issues which are the crux of good government! But of course Terry and others, the people of Israel gave the Likud the power by voting for the extremist right wing parties and the Ultra-Orthodox joined the band wagon because they new and know they can count on Bibi to kowtow to all their whims and wants! Those who voted for Likud and the extreme right wing and now complain, well, you made your bed, now lie in it!
14. #6 birdi, like Bin Laden hid behind his wife, so will Hamas.
Noodles ,   Coney Island   (05.07.11)
15. SO -
Orao. ,   Srbia.   (05.07.11)
WHEN A MISSILE IS FIRED FROM GAZA, ISRAEL CAN RETALIATE AGINST BOUTH HAMASTAN IN GAZA, AND, THE WEST BANK FATAH - !!!. ISRAEL - !!! - DONT MISS THIS OPPORTUNITY - !!!. Orao.Srbia.
16. Pal consensus come and gone: they voted for Oslo
Al Levy ,   Toronto   (05.07.11)
The Palestinian legislature already gave their consensus be approving of peace talks with Israel. Hamas is lying again, and the Americans are Europeans are suckers for paying attention instead of using their own brains.
17. Kill Internal Opposition = Full Consensus
emanon ,   USA   (05.07.11)
That's the arab way.
18. To David #13
Rachel ,   US   (05.07.11)
What choices did we have in the election? Livni? If she were PM, E. Jerusalem would already be judenrein.
19. Hamas Must Change Its Charter
Bill Foonman ,   Jacksonville, USA   (05.07.11)
When Hamas changes its charter that calls for Israel's destruction and all-out Jihad against Israel, maybe then the world will start to believe that they can be trusted.
20. Deception
Max ,   Washington DC   (05.07.11)
Hamas is agreeing to nothing more than its continued agenda to destroy Israel, only this time they are employing "Deception" to appear moderate in cooperation with Abbas and Fatah.
21. #19 Bill
Dallas ,   Canada   (05.07.11)
The charter is one thing, however the other elephants in the room are: 1) A couple of generations of time to raise a culture which doesn't hate, 2) Recognizing the Jewish nature of Israel, 3) Leaving behind the claim of return, as has Israel's Mizrahi displaced Jews and all other refugee groups through history, 4) Overhauling the Palis educational system, maps, etc., 5) Allowing Israel's defensibility of the Jordan Valley and the high country above the coastal plain. These are a few but not a complete list. Additionally is the enabling of Jews to live in the disputed territory (outlawing apartheid), and access to holy sites. All must be addressed and solved.
22. Abbas becoming the new Arafar.
(05.07.11)
23. Violance by consensus
J.K. ,   Brooklyn USA   (05.07.11)
Very Democratic,a nation will go crazy only by consensus.
24. #21 Dallas Response
Bill Foonman ,   Jacksonville, USA   (05.07.11)
Wouldn't that be great however,I think we all know that hell will freeze over before Hamas will agree to any of these conditions which is why there is no foreseeable end to the hostilities.
25. This is a declaration of WAR
AlbertoGA ,   St. George, USA   (05.07.11)
All the rest are just details. The only solution is to disolve Gaza. And move all the Pals to Palestine. JORDAN
26. When will Israel renounce settlement activities?
Joseph ,   West Bank   (05.07.11)
You say Hamas must recognize Israel...but when will Israel recognize the Palestinians? Sure, they have done it with "nice words" but in reality everytime Israel builds new settlements they are denying the rights of Palestinians to have a state of their own. So until Israel completely renounces settlement activities and dismantles them, why should Hamas or anyone else do anything for Israel? You claim actions speak louder than words, but you are the real hypocrites. Israel's continued settlement activities while pretending to seek peace speak loudest of all.
27. #2 get over it
solomon ,   bklyn   (05.07.11)
As Jews bought land in what was then "Palestine" (named as such by the Romans before the Muslim conquest), and the arabs did not accept the UN Partition Resolution and attacked the Jews (who at that time were the ones called "Palestinians"), and attacked, and attacked, and attacked (in all subsequent wars), it is Israel that has claim to the right of resistance. Read some history instead of writing knee jerk reactions. It is YOU who should 'get over it'.
28. To # 26
Abu Yussef al Yahudi ,   Bue_Aires_Argentina   (05.07.11)
Sir, you are very wrong, Israel has aproximately 1.5 Millions of Arabs Muslim living as citizens in her territory, so : What is the problem if some Jewish people will be living in the future State of Palestine? Au contrarie, it will beneficiate the palestinians, because this "Settlers", as you name them, are very hard workers with the power to improve the economy of the new State. BUT, but, you and all the Jew haters, wish to establish, not only a Pal State, but the whole world "JUDENREIN". But do not be so optimistic, the Jewish Pepole will survive, as was in the entire History, and this ancient civilization will thrive and flourish in his country, the Ethernal Israel. Have you a good day
29. #2; Get Over IT
Mark fro Georgia ,   USA   (05.07.11)

30. PROOF POSITIVE
Mark from Georgia ,   USA   (05.07.11)
