31. I think the salaries they're referring to...
William ,   Israel   (05.09.11)
is their own!
32. Palestians cannot pay salaries
Harold ,   USA   (05.09.11)
That is what Israel want to hear. Israel wants the Palestinians be sanctioned from all angles and suffer and die of hunger and illness. So it is a must the world has to recognize a Palestian State in coming September.
33. The "peace process" is over.
Jules   (05.10.11)
The delegitimization campaign against Israel has failed, thanks to the right-wing Government (who returned the sense of self-respect and dignity to the country). So no-one in the world really wants to hear about the "Palestinian" problem anymore. The circus is over.
34. Like Gaza 2006 - Iran to Fund?
Mark ben Josuf ,   USA   (05.10.11)
It seems that memories are short. In 2006, Iran stepped in and provided funding at the US and Israel lost whatever influence it had in Gaza. Apparently this does not even concern many talkbackers. Iran has shown a complete willingness to step in and fill any funding void left open. The Bush plan for Gaza put Hamas in charge in Gaza with Iranian funding. This looks like a mirror image plan for the entire PA. What does a day of Israel's entire reserves called up cost?
35. PA Salaries
NYC Girl   (05.10.11)
Abbas should get on the next plane to Paris. Then, perhaps, if he's willing to grovel at the feet of Yasser's widow, Miss Piggy, who's living high on the hog (on the money her husband stole from the so-called Palestinians) in one of the city's most exclusive arondissements...he might be able to wrangle a couple of euros out of her.
36. #32 - great, they have a State...and still no salaries
William ,   Israel   (05.10.11)
So, what's changed, Harold? Will having a State suddenly make rainbows appear? A pot of gold in every house and a slaughtered lamb in every kitchen? Nevermind that a govt that heavily employs its own people is unsustainable, except on the massive welfare of richer nations. Look at Greece as an example of a pending economic implosion based on top-heavy govt. One of the criteria for a State is to have a working economy that will become self-sustaining. Fayyad said they had it - then all of a sudden, they have no $$$ to pay salaries, living hand to mouth. If the world offers them a State, then the stipulation should be no on-going handouts without a painful austerity program.
37. To: No. 32
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (05.10.11)
We'll settle for watching them stand on their own two feet and build a state with hard work and a concept of shared destiny. If they cannot -- and they can't -- why should they even have a state? If they really wanted one to begin with -- rather than supplant Israel -- why did their so-called "leadership" find it preferable to buy multiple lavish homes in Europe and fund hefty offshore personal bank accounts with money earmarked for the benefit of the ersatz "Palestinian" people? Can it be that they were far more interested in securing personal wealth than doing anything for the ersatz "Palestinian" people? Every indication would speak to that. Chew on that for a while.
38. In all this, do not forget ....
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (05.10.11)
... the Fogel family, five members of which were slaughtered as they slept, including three small children. That's quite a wrongful death suit against Fatah (keep in mind that the Al Quds Brigade, the military wing of Fatah proudly took credit for the massacre). That's a hell of a lot of punitive damages. It does beg the question, though -- since the infrastructure in the PA is in ruins, medical clinics, schools, universities and hospitals have all been closing -- where have the $200 billion and 200 billion euros received by the PA in a scant 17 years been spent? That's a fair amount of money. Where has it all gone? Can the people who spent that unwisely really actually manage a viable state? I don't think so -- any thoughts?
39. nothing till Gilad Shalit is back!
Miriam ,   Raanana   (05.10.11)
40. Re: My post at No. 38
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (05.10.11)
Forgive me. It is not the Al Quds Brigade, but rather the Al Aqsa Martyrs' Brigade. I do apologize. All those ersatz "Palestinian" terrorist "Brigades" get so confusing ....
41. #32 Fayyad's happy fatwas
Cynthia ,   USA   (05.10.11)
The Israelis wanted to do business with the Palestinians and offer them jobs. Fayyad issued fatwas against both and tried to force Palestinians to boycott Israeli goods. Palestinian suffering is self-imposed for world sympathy to bring in the big bucks. Now Hamas can pay their salaries and feed the people. Israel can stop the truckloads of humanitarian aid and free medical care.
