1. You just can't make up stuff like this: hilarious...!
tom ,   tel aviv   (05.10.11)
How about funding a new "Organization" : Brains for Israeli Women ??
2. EU hypocrisy again
Israeli grandma   (05.10.11)
Lands over the former "Green Line" cease fire lines (NOT formal borders) are lands which are not just disputed territory, but were illegally annexed by Jordan before 1967. Before that they were part of the territory allocated to the Jewish state by the European powers when the Turkish occupation was got rid of. Israeli "rights" pressure groups are ignorant of our history but worst of all, have bought into the "Palestinan" mythology which is now largely accepted as history because of the influence of a massive campaign through the internet and modern information spreading techniques. Also I have ridden this train in company with Arab citizens as a normal activity.
3. EU supplies many rogue regimes
Israeli patriot   (05.10.11)
For years the EU and Germany have been doing regular and lucrative business with oppressive and repressive regimes such as Iraq, Syria, Iran, Libya and all the rest, with no self-rightous groups of Israeli or other self-appointed vigilantes raising a murmur.

Germany 'abiding by their own treaties? They 'duck the 'International Boycot of Iran with their own treaties and economic profit. So this Merav Amir doesn't know what she's talking about. The 'treaties & standarts of Germany & the world are ruled ONLY by money. Now about this magic word "Illegal". By whom's standarts? Yours? Merav Amir? the Palies? Hamas? the WORLD who stood by while 6 million Jews were gassed by those same Germans with their high standarts & morality? If you and all those other 'boycotters (Gd. forbid) will succeed in what they are doing all the time (undermining Israel wherever they can) because they refuse to see & understand they are undermining themselves in the end. That's why they are called 'Usefull Idiots. Idiots because they are being used by helping those who want to destroy them.
11. German Trains
Menachem Jacobs ,   Yishi Israel   (05.10.11)
Germans always so ethical with thier trains
12. The Germans are right. It's not safe.
Rich ,   Toronto, Canada   (05.10.11)
Why provoke a conflict when it's not necessary? Do we want peace or not? The Torah says that all of the ways of the Torah are the ways that lead to peace.
13. The German Company
Ron ,   OC, US   (05.10.11)
They will find a subcontractor and take a cut of the procedes. The rail line will be built. It's in the artical, I did not make it up.
14. Let my people walk:)
Maya ,   australia   (05.10.11)
Truth is stranger than fiction. Feminists putting women backwards. Guess all the girls will thank them while they are still walking down the street. Stupidity.
15. Torah & The Train
Roy C Tremain ,   Addison U.S.A.   (05.10.11)
Wars are an unacceptable form of human behavior, and it seems some people will stop at nothing to start one; however, who really benefits from conflict? For example, every time the U.S. state department complains about nuclear reactors in Iran, the president there proclaims patriotism, and somehow the Persians must do without rice at the behest of a glitterati of nuclear boneheads... the list goes on and on. No one needs to be starting anymore conflicts or wars over anything anymore, and if any of us are able to use our heads, we may be able to get through this century without some of the repeats of the previous one!
16. Wake UP!
Pinhas Bayit ,   Bet HaKerem   (05.10.11)
The planned line crosses occupied land. It is not ours to build on. Move the route. And while you're shouting abuse think what this means and think what it will mean after September, when the line will cross sovreign territory. Then we'll no longer be occupiers but invaders, just like Saddam Hussein and Kuwait.
17. time for independence
Eddie ,   UK   (05.10.11)
Why doesn't Israel build its own train lines? It isnt such am advance technology. Or buy in cheap Chinese expertise, or american, after all, USA is giving financial aid to Israel, so why not give the contract to an american firm?
18. #16 Go back to sleep...never read so much rubbish
(05.10.11)
The land the track runs on is Israeli. Its about time people realized that and got on with their lives. The track will be built...and the trains will run. Move on.
19. Germans are hypocrites
Maurice ,   Los Angeles. USA   (05.10.11)
So selling uranium centrifuges and software to run them to Iran did not bother them even though they knew Iran would be use them to build nuclear weapons? But now they grow a concience for building a peaceful tool that everyone will benefit from Jews and Muslims alike. I would like to remind the Germans that according to the UN the territories are disputed not occupied.
20. stopping construction
harry weiss ,   staten island n.y.   (05.10.11)

21. any grounds to sue?

22. to #7
tom ,   toronto, canada   (05.10.11)
reading the article, and knowing the history of israel, and international law, what do you mean, "illegal"? the arab homeland in palestine has existed since 1923, and DOES NOT, not did it ever, include the west bank. the west bank was occupied illegally by jordan, from 1948 to 1967, and was referred to by the united nations as "disputed terrirtory", which it still is. neither jordan nor any other arab entity have ANY RIGHT to it, except as negotiated in a future peace agreement with israel. it does NOT belong to fatah. after 63 years of arab belligerence, israel has every right to build in the west bank, which was LEGALLY part of the jewish homeland in palestine since 1923. to deny that most basic right, of an aboriginal people to live in their native land, is to take part in ethnic cleansing of the land of israel, which IS against international law. i find it amazingly ironic how hard some stupid jewish groups will fight against peaceful settlement, supposedly in the name of "peace", yet say or do nothing against arab lies, incitement, and terrorism. which part of "legal" don't YOU comprehend?
23. million-dollar mistake?
tom ,   toronto, canada   (05.10.11)
"An official at the German Transportation Ministry expressed concern over the project on March 14, saying it potentially violates the rules of international law." breaking a contract over a "maybe" can be very costly for a company's reputation. it's even stranger that a transportation company, in particular, should only realize that the train's route goes through part of the west bank after the contracts have been signed. rather, this is a triumph for the anti-israeli lobbyists and their intimidation tactics. hurting the israeli economy, and blocking arab access to it, has nothing to do with peace, or even the well-being of the arab palestinians, but only with the ongoing campaign of hatred and isolation against israel.
24. This should be a do-it-ourselves project
BENCJABO ,   ISRAEL   (05.10.11)
leading to a brand new industry, construction & exportation of railway equipment Think of Korea, a major train & rail equipment manufacturer, exporting all over the world
25. send women for peace to iran
Jon ,   USA   (05.10.11)
or deport them to "Palestine".
26. get a spine, man
to Pinhas Bayit   (05.10.11)
Israel is not like Iraq in Kuwait. Kuwait did not have the destruction of Iraq in its constitution, nor did it desecrate Holy Sites important to Iraqis. The Palestinians may get state without making peace, but who is going to lead Operation Desert Fox against Israel? Italy? Belgium? Syria? Get a spine, man. The arabs have been trying to destroy Israel for 63 years, and the Europeans may pretend to love Palestinians but they're not fooling me. They need arab oil, but are too weak to do any more against Israel than "academic" boycotts, and borrowing money to give to Hamas. Stop worrying about what the UN says. When the Palestinians are ready for peace in 1000 years, trains will freely pass across all borders.
27. Hypocrisy? Germany's new billion-dollar deal with Iran...
Roger Hudson ,   New York USA   (05.10.11)
I think that people need to spread the word on this mind-numbling hypocrisy. Germany halts construction on a Tel-Aviv-to-Jerusalem train, while -- in the same breath -- in April the German government nailed a deal worth billions of Euros with the greatest threat to Israel's existence... Iran. According to YNet News and other media outlets, Germany's Foreign Minister circumvented U.S. sanctions against Iran to transfer India crude oil payments to National Iranian Oil Company (NIOC), a financial arm of Iran's current regime. The U.S. had clamped down on India's Asia Clearing Union to block a 9-billion euro payment to Iran's rulers, but the German government "was quick to do Iran's dirty work in Europe," according to YNet. Those desperately-needed oil funds have swollen the financial coffers of Iran's regime, allowing Tehran's rulers to advance their illicit military and nuclear programs. And that provides a financial windfall for iran to continue support for Hezbollah and Hamas. THANK YOU, GERMANY! You are now on the road to assisting in the efforts to destroy Israel -- via Iran, and Hamas. WAKE UP, EVERYBODY, before it's too late. Shame, shame, shame on Germany. The whole world needs to call you out on this fact.
28. Once A German Always A German!

29. arab land
Mordo   (05.10.11)
Who needs trains on "arab" land ? How they don't understand that is a way for progress ? Never miss an opportunity to stay backward.
30. German Rail Services - No, thank you!
Rimona ,   Or-Yehuda, Israel   (05.10.11)
I'm glad the German Rail system backed out of the Tel-Aviv - Jerusalem line project. The German Rail service was the prime mover of Jews to Auschwitz and should be remember as such and not as a facilitator of services between Jerusalem and Tel-Aviv.
