1. Look at the photo of girls with Pally flags
William ,   Israel   (05.11.11)
none of them look Arab to me. Typical foreign instigators helping to spread a falsehood of revised history. Israeli Arabs have it so much better than other Arabs in the entire region and they still consider Israel's existence on public and Jewish-owned land as a "catastrophe".
2. "a narrative alive and kicking" but not necessarily accurate
William ,   Israel   (05.11.11)
I laugh when I hear an Arab MK claim Israel's existence is a catastrophe. I have never heard a politician in any country call the birth of his own country a "catastrophe". Tibi - there is also a narrative that Jews kill non-Jews for their blood, that Jews own the world's banks and media, and that the Holocaust was fictional. None of these narratives are true but they are alive and kicking among the most racist and depraved on this planet.... so too is the narrative of "nakba" to which you prescribe. Not long ago, Arab leaders were on record placing the blame of "Palestinian" demise where it should be - on Arab leaders themselves, not Israel.
3. Joyous Naqba Day!
BH ,   Iowa   (05.11.11)
Get some sweets and celebrate the defeat of the aggressor Arab armies. Arab defeat = Free world Victory over totlitarianism. Cheers!
4. Nakba Day
Mark ,   USA   (05.11.11)
I understand that Israel is a democracy, but they are taking this democracy thing WAY too far! You are talking about out and out treason! Nobody needs to celebrate if they do not want too, but this is ridiculous!
5. Something I don't understand
David S   (05.11.11)
will someone please explain to me why in every poll taken of Israeli Arabs huge majorities wish to remain Israeli citizens rather than becoming part of a proposed Palestinian homeland. If they believe its such a Nakba, why don't they strongly support becoming part of a new Palestinian country?
6. Why aren't they wearing veils!
Stuart ,   Ny USA   (05.11.11)
what would happen to these girls if they were living in an Islamic state?!
7. And that's why they should all live in the PA
Aharon   (05.11.11)
8. Israel should announce referendum
GZLives   (05.11.11)
Have the Arabs vote once and for all on whether they want to remain citizens of the Jewish State or not. Perhaps those new Arab Spring countries like Egypt will have those who want to go? The vote will likely turn out that the majority wants to stay and that will begin to finally diminish how the west views this Nakba. All props to Pallywood for the superb job of marketing and promoting this annual "event"
9. Just another step toward "peace"
Mark ,   USA   (05.11.11)
Nakba? Oh, that's going to promote understanding and peace? Give me a break..if it's Nakba/disaster the Pals want, then it's Nakba they'll get-they're the disaster. Everything they touch turns to "unmentionable"...look at their schools, their hovels in which they live, and what they did to Gush Katif when they were given it. They're the Nakba.
10. traitors day
jewbie ,   NYC AMERICA   (05.11.11)
nabka should be treated the way all evil traitorious acts are/is treated...
11. The only people I can think of that
BEN JABO ,   ISRAEL   (05.11.11)
Commemorate a disaster that they themselves created
12. how about preparing Tibi&Co for a kick in the butt??
tom ,   tel aviv   (05.11.11)
13. And from Egypt they will go remembering 63 years ago
sid on thames ,   bourke   (05.11.11)
Ignoring the 700 dead in Syria. Where is Syrias' nakba day? Or any of the other ME countries nakba days? Of course palestinians live in the only country in the ME where they can have a nakba day. Any of their home countries would shoot them for walking around with flags.
14. Oh, give me a break.
Michael Steiner ,   Bahrain   (05.11.11)
15,000 "protested"? That's 1% of the Arab Israeli populace. Big deal. A greater proportion of the 7aredim riot in Jerusalem pretty much every Saturday and hardly anybody says anything. Instead of constantly looking for ways to prove Arab Israelis are "disloyal," we should be working on proving equal opportunities for them, particularly in terms of investment in infrastructure and integration generally.
15. "Palestinian's culture"
Doudou ,   Jerusalem   (05.11.11)
Palestinian have no culture, all their events is against or anti something. They nether build something for them but prefer to destroy the other's achievement
16. They will never be anything more than pretend citizens of an
Bunnie Meyer ,   Los Angeles, CA USA   (05.11.11)
imaginary state.
17. I double checked the land of Kfar Saba was
ghostq   (05.11.11)
bought it in 1898, Israel got the deeds for the land, the land does not belong to arabs they didn't want the land, they had mud houses villag but they abandon it by will(they didn't bought the land but they sold it anyway), all this rally is basically just arabs want something that do not belong to them, I was suprised to find out the city is mention in the Roman time as jewish village,
18. They're closer to a new nakba, than redressing the old one.
Noodles ,   Coney Island   (05.11.11)
19. Too bad the government is too PC to
jason white ,   afula, israel   (05.11.11)
be ready to stop the riots,if they happen. They should have asked for volunteers from the I.D.F. veterans to be armed and ready to put down all riots. tibi should have never been allowed to sit in the knesset. The knesset and the high court banned the late Rabbi Kahane and his Kach movement, but not these treacherous arab m.k.s.
20. Judea and Shomron are occupied by Arabs !
(05.11.11)
21. Which Naqba?
David ,   USA   (05.11.11)
The Jews throughout the Middle East have disappeared thanks to the Koranic Islamic intolerance to anyone not Moslem. Now, its the Christins' turn. These Fifth Column idiots, demonstrating should be taken and dropped in the Saudi Desert where they came from so they can enjoy the true Naqba from their treacherous Islamic lands where they came from. They should kiss the ground of Israel, they are so lucky!
22. "nakba" demos advertise to world arabs' freedom in israel
mike ,   israel (formerly usa   (05.11.11)
the state of israel is the best thing that has happened for the arabs here but they are too ignorant to acknowledge it. well, they actually acknowledge it by showing the world they are so free that they can express their liberty by pulling these stunts. funny, they call it a 'disaster' but, by doing so, they advertise to the world the opposite is true. and that's the best advertisement israel could get. thanks guys, couldn't have helped israel better this!
23. Bravo William Israel # 1
Moragh   (05.11.11)
I had a good look at these teenagers. I didn't see any that looked Arab. A bunch of silly (but dangerous) kids trying to show their "adult" understanding. Arrest them, dump them behind bars for a while and show them that Israel is no joke.
24. Spot on Doudou Jerusalem # 15
Elizabeth   (05.11.11)
Incidentally, my little kitten is called Doudou.
25. 1
birdi ,   israel   (05.11.11)
William, the girls you are reffering to in the photo are Arab females, modernized up to the hilt, with straightened hair, wearing jeans and t-shirts. the new generation of pallies !!
26. Enough!
tiki ,   belgium   (05.11.11)
It's about time Israel marks it's border of tolerance. Loud & clear. ONE of these borders must be that Israeli Arabs 'celebrating the Naqba and 'inciting from within, should be 'stripped of the citizenship they so much hate. No more benefits for them. After all, nobody forces them to be Israeli citizens. It can be very simple. All it takes is a little more backbone and a little less talk from Israel.
27. #1 More than a grain of truth
Sammy ,   Newcastle   (05.11.11)
Look at the UKs Palestine Solidarity Campaign for example. Quite often an embarassment to the cause and to ordinary Palestinians I would estimate that over 60% of activists are so called 'bandwagon' students looking to embrace a cause - any cause judging just how ill informed they are about issues, self promoting so called celebs and anti jewish and Israel activists mainly to the left with a serious axe to grind that has nothing to do with the Palestinian cause The same is true for the Flotilla campaigns - notice how few Palestinians are involved? Its just a bunch of people looking for trouble. Recently the Readers Digest published an article about a UK Flotilla Campaigner - and just about every fact that this Flotilla guy espoused about the issues were plain WRONG but he was nevertheless portrayed in the Readers Digest as some sort of hero! As for Nakba it is true that whilst Israel Independence is an annual reminder to us that we also deserve our State Nakba is NOT a creation of Palestinians but simply another externally inspired PR exercise that is peverse as much as it is useless
28. Life chances!
Susie ,   Scotland   (05.11.11)
I just wish the Palestinian's would wake up and realise is all about life chances. They had the chance to have an independent state like Israel. Instead they have wasted 60 odd years waging war and crying that they don't have a country. Its time to shut up make peace and build your own country and stop crying about lost toys. During life we all loose something and gain something but you have to learn to get over your losses!
29. #1, girls are Arab but unprepared for Arab Islamists victory
Noam ,   Jerusalem ISRAEL   (05.11.11)
Because there comfortable, rights-filled lifestyles would be pulverized if Israel were to cease to exist and a 22nd Arab-Islamist entity reigned in its place. The girls have an Eastern mediterranean facial complexion and one middle-aged women on the left side is wearing a blue headscarf. Either they ignore the Hamas reality on women in Gaza or their hatred of Jewish self-determination is so great that they don't think about the bigger picture of their implications. Happy Independence Day compatriot!
30. Bets on a Peaceful Nakba?
Douglas Fireman ,   Chicago, USA   (05.11.11)
Nakba shmakba. The Arabs are responsible for their own Nakba.
