Read your Koran to learn when Israel was established. By the way, how many Shii'tes did you shoot today?

Balfour Declaration declared for a Home for Jewish People. The Bible, archeological finds, and the history of Islam (it began only in the 600's AD and developed into conquest of lands outside arabia) show that the land is legally belongs to the Jews. When large numbers of Jews returned to join those still in what was then "Palestine" [named by the Romans. The term 'Palestiinians' applied to the Jews, through 1948!], they BOUGHT the land they settled on. Because of them, the economy improved, and it was only then that many of those now calling themselves 'Palestiinian' came. Many others came after 1948 when Jordan made the WM judenrien. You should check YOUR records, and read some more as well !
33. wishful thinking

no one can guarantee pal state does not ally with hezbollah and iran or becomes militaristic. Arrangements in jerusalem will dissolve into sectarian fighting like old belfast. Arabs will encroach. What is missing here is new thinking-cut off some of the land of jordan which belongs to israel, expand the gaza corridor through arrangements with egypt and salvage land through off shore development. From this thinking, some arrangement can be made.

You talk sense and truth with such simple and refreshing clarity, I wish you were PM! Sadly, it is those very qualities which mean you would never make it in Israeli politics, nowadays we only seem to elect spineless, blind and/or corrupt appeasers and surrenderniks. Although I agree with your criticisms of Lieberman's platform, he certainly seems to be the best option at the moment from among the known possibilities.
35. Barak plan
Harold ,   USA   (05.11.11)
A new plan by Barak means new lie and new delay for the Peace Process. The world cannot and will not believe Israel anymore after 20 years of delays. If Netanyahu will not freeze the construction of all settlements the Palestinians have the right to claim statehood at the United Nations.

#22 is correct. There was no Israel before 1948 and that is the reason voting for this new nation at the United Nations took place. Palestinians were living there and own the lands of Palestine before the Jews immigrated from Germany, Poland and the United States. Most of the immigrants from the Soviet Union were not Jews and most of them were not even circumcized. For more than 70 years the Soviet Union had no religion. Many citizens of the Soviet Union became Jewish just to immigrate to the land of MILK AND HONEY.

39. the Jews, the arabs - the arabs and the jews
the wizard   (05.11.11)
a calamity that only America, only Europe are capable of formenting. Courageous steps in Hebrew, uttered by Barak, means giving away our land, our capital, our borders. The leftover can be sold to the Disney Corporation so they can build their theme park with all the glorious attractions : Mikey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, pluto, the 3 little piggies, the 7 dwarfs, etc. It will barely fit. We have been fighting worthless wars for 63 years, and after each " victory ", our little country keeps shrinking . Over 27000 of our youth paid the ultimate price for our extravaganza, while the jubilant arabs clamor for more.---- on a silver plater. And as usual, we oblige, thanks to our powerful friends advice and promesses. Lets not forget that next on their demands -- the gas, the oil..... We can then say convincingly that they went laughing all the way to the bank.
40. #34 Chatich - I have a solution for that too :-)
Marcella   (05.11.11)
No, I would not want to be PM. Or even MK. I think we both understand why. The only way to stop prime ministers - any of them - from deviating from their original principles, is to have a vigilant council of independent citizens lobbying for the most important issues that the majority of Israelis want. This council would be composed of reputable, well-known patriotic secular and religious Israeli leaders. There is safety and strength in numbers. One individual can be easily persuaded... . But if you had a solid wall of two or three dozen individuals who would present facts and solutions, denounce improper attempts at persuasion, and inspire the people to demand that their politicians truly represent the interest of the majority, that moral force would make a big difference. Much more than the usual disorganized and scattered popular leadership that has failed to stop other withdrawals. But the focus must be narrow: one or two items at the time (such as annexation) in order to prevent infighting. Once that goal is accomplished, they could target electoral reform to make MKs directly accountable to their constituencies.

The land held the Kingdom of Israel thousands of years before Mohammed was born. In fact the name Israel had nothing to do with the UN Vote as it was decided by the Jews after the partition vote that they accepted (and the arabs didn't). Most Israelis come from ARAB countries, not Europe! Read about Russian Refuseniks; Jews who wanted to come to Israel but couldn't. Russians kept their religions in spite of the communists. How do YOU explain the strength of the Russian Orthodox Church? Then you say that Russian immigrants to Israel were not Jewish...yet they became Jewish. Huh? From my previous post which you expectedly ignore: Jews always lived there. The first major new influx of Jews in the late 1800's BOUGHT the land they settled on. Because of them, the economy improved, and it was only then that many of those now calling themselves 'Palestiinian' came. Many others came after 1948 when Jordan made the WB judenrien. Read some history books so you can contribute something at least relevant to these TB's.
42. Sounds like you're suggesting
#40 Marcella   (05.11.11)
...a sort of "Israeli tea party". Unfortunately, we Jews tend to wait until after massive attrocities have been committed against us before we spring into any meaningful action. Seems many Israelis are content to just kvetch and kibbetz about our tzurot rather than actually do something about them. We need to be led to the well by somebody with sechel and koach. Which brings me back to my original idea, Marcella for PM :)

As Defence Minister Barak has got the IDF into far better shape than it was when he took over. As Prime Minister he exposed the deception of Arafat in his "peace negotiations". In both great offices of state he has done a huge service to Israel.

May 13 -- 72 years ago on this date, the St. Louis left Germany carrying more than 900 Jews seeking refuge from Hitler. Four days later, May 17, the British closed Palestine to the Jews of Hitler's Europe. June 17, the St. Louis returned most of the Jewish refugees to Europe. The U.S.has a motto --"In God We Trust." This motto originated with B'nai Israel. The State of israel would do well to keep this in mind in the days ahead when President Obama will offer the illusion of "guarantees" followed by the new reality of an intransigent , unfavorable to Jerusalem policy. No good can be expected of third party guarantees -- or Fatah-Hamas "unity" backed by Cairo-based jihadism. Recall, the PLO began as an Egyptian anti-Israel creation. Israel: learn from History, and Trust in G-d!
