2. He knew what what going on and never tried to stop it
Talula ,   Israel   (05.12.11)
or get a detailed message to anyone who could help - he stood by as millions of innocence where murdered. Toss him into the sea with Osama - they've got lots in common.
3. The Germans will put him on social wellfare
Chris Rettenmoser ,   Bayerisch Gmain Germ   (05.12.11)
that's all...Nazis have a free ride there...as ALWAYS...!!!!
4. 5 YEARS? why not until he dies?
Talula ,   Israel   (05.12.11)
That's a slap in the face for every Holocaust survivor who was in that court room re-living the horrors of their past.
5. Got off easy
Joe ,   Florida, USA   (05.12.11)
This evil bastard got 100 hours in prison for each Jew whose death he was responsible for. Even 5 years per victim would have been an easy sentence, but 5 years for all 28,060? Why is this piece of garbage still allowed to draw a breath?
6. Bin Ladin dead, Demanjanuk convicted
Judah ,   Golan Heights,ISRAEL   (05.12.11)
May 2011, a good month!
7. Questions
NilsG ,   Helsingborg, Sweden   (05.12.11)
Sobibor was active from May 1942 until October 1943. To whom should an Ukrainian PoW send a message that would change anything? Why was he exonerated in the early 60s when the evidential situation would have been better than today? In those days, people would still be alive who could testify.
8. The creature behind the glasses.
Joan ,   UK   (05.12.11)
What a coward hiding with the dark glass. He is pure evil and wil burn in hell.
9. 91 years old got 5 in the slamer
ghostq   (05.12.11)
so when he will be released he will be 96 years old, lol maybe he will write memoirs about his time in prison, that is if in 96 years old he will remember his own name. hahahaha
10. 3 - The Germans will put him on social wellfare ,...
split ,   US   (05.12.11)
In 1994, soon after the dissolution of the Soviet Union, Morel was indicted by Poland's Institute of National Remembrance of war crimes and crimes against humanity, including the "revenge killing" of 1,500 prisoners.[2] After his case was publicized by the Polish, German, British, and American media, Morel fled to Israel and was granted sanctuary under the Law of Return. Poland twice requested his extradition, but Israel did not comply, citing a lack of evidence ,... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Salomon_Morel
11. Demanjanuk conviction
jennifer ,   Jerusalem, Israel   (05.12.11)
Absolutely ridiculous! only 5 years for a prison guard who allows mass murderer? He should have his pension not only revoked, but he should have his monies added to the funds for holocaaust survivors with interest added onto it! This is justice?
12. Total disgrace - 5 years is a joke and a insult to every Jew
Michelle ,   Israel   (05.12.11)
I don't care how old or frail he is he should have been sentenced to a 1000 years - even if it would only be to symbolize the enormity of his actions and the actions of his fellow haters. 5 years is a slap in the face to every death he was responsible for and to every survivor who has to live with what happened. Shame on Germany and their courts!!!!!!!
13. These guys always find a way
Mark from Georgia ,   USA   (05.12.11)
It's interesting that the defense made this argument: "Defense attorney Ulrich Busch told the Munich court on Wednesday that even if Demjanjuk did become a prison guard, he did so only because as a prisoner of war he would have either been shot by the Nazis or died of starvation." So even "if" he was a guard? Hmmm, OK
14. to the critics of the German courts
Israel Israeli ,   Tel Aviv   (05.12.11)
At least the Germans convicted him, the Israeli court released him and let him live a few good years with his children and grandchildren.
15. Already out because of his age - which Jews could not reach.
Rebecca ,   Modi'in   (05.12.11)
As he prevented so very many Jews reaching his age, it should not be a factor in his sentence or his immediate release. sickening
16. and now he's released
(05.12.11)
http://www.ynetnews.com/articles/0,7340,L-4067883,00.html
17. What a farce! Adding insult to injury!
AB ,   TheRock   (05.12.11)
These German judges are a bunch of mamzerim. They're too human to put a monster behind bars? Apparently they are as without conscience as he is. Pitiful. But the big, the real day of judgment is not far off and then justice will be done.
18. another need or reminding for the israeli citizens or jew to have an independent state.
Saed ,   Iran   (05.12.11)
I am iranian jew but we should notice something and that is israel is a necessity for jews or everyone that convert to judaism.we need to have a strong army and strong economy and strong scientist7.i will join you by making aliyah.be sure.i love you israel.
19. who are they to judge
avi ,   nyc   (05.12.11)
He may be guilty as all hell, but who are the germans to judge him?
20. How long will he serve
Jackie ,   Florida   (05.12.11)
Although I think five years is too short a time, it is interesting that he has been discharged from serving any time because of his age. How many Jews were denied the hope of reaching that age because he helped kill them!
21. 5 years
(05.12.11)
It is against the German constitution to put somebody into jail for the 'rest of his life', without any hope of being released some day.
22. 5 years not even if i steal a cookie get only 5 years
Ester   (05.12.11)
23. to no. 16 wow that was fast sentence he served huh
Countess Mara   (05.12.11)
out already on good behavior i presume, too bad the last thing he could not see before he croaked was the inside of a jail cell and bars. dont worry b/c whne he goes to die he will have to pay the piper then and he is going to hell to meet hitler and his cronies
24. Footnote to #5
Joe ,   Florida, USA   (05.12.11)
I meant the bastard got 100 MINUTES, not 100 hours for each Jew he made sure died. And I don't give a d*** how frail he is. He gets 5 years, yet possession of a controlled substance in the US will carry a sentence far greater.
25. Info: He is free until his appeal is over and if too sick to
Bunnie Meyer ,   Los Angeles, CA USA   (05.12.11)
be in prison then will be left free. Reported by the Holocaust Museum email in Los Angeles.
26. Justice ...the real and true justice for Demjanjuk
Tulag   (05.12.11)
is from G-d ... it may or may not be what we expect.... let us All examin our own hearts to shed anything that may be hurtful to other humanbeings and be sensitive to the hurts of others.
27. The man was sentenced then set free
Talula ,   Israel   (05.12.11)
according to SKY and BBC news. That is absolutely disgusting. Why bother even taking him to court if they think he's too old to serve a sentence? What about the elderly who were sent to their death in the camps? They weren't set free, noone cared about their age. If the Mossad are looking for someone to take him out, I'm putting my name forward for the honour.
28. HE HAS BEEN SET FREE UPDATE
ambrosine shitrit ,   london uk   (05.12.11)
do you believe this ???? he has been set free
29. Inhumane
John ,   London, UK   (05.12.11)
The treatment this man was subjected to is totally inhumane, he is 91 and was found not guilty by an israeli court over 20 yrs ago. how can u prove a case against someone after 70 yrs based on weak uncorraborated circumstantial evidence?? this is a political trial and a kangaro court!!
30. If it wasn't for the damned Supreme Court...
Jewish Warrior   (05.12.11)
His death sentence in 1988 would have been carried out.
