1. "Days of blood and violence"?
Adam ,   Golan Heights Israel   (05.14.11)
Simple rule of cause and effect. Resort to violence, and chances are that your blood will be spilt. But hey....knock yourselves out!
2. I saw these violent barbaric Silwan youth in action myself
they are animals   (05.14.11)
We are not talking about peaceful demonstrators. These are very violent stone throwing thugs who would kill any Jew if they could - as was demonstrated a few times when an unfortunate Israeli Jew happened to loose his or her way in their violent neighborhood.
3. what will the "investigation" into this incident reveal ?
eporue ,   europe   (05.14.11)
4. Our police have their hands tied.
Terry ,   Eilat - Israel   (05.14.11)
The BS political correctness imposed upon them after the deaths of 13 Arabs in previous riots limits their ability to effectively deal with future disturbances.
5. why was he shot ?
eporue ,   europe   (05.14.11)
was he the one who threw the molotov cocktail or did the security guard just shoot at the next person he could hit ? this looks indeed like a provocation... if germany - or any other country - would shoot during protests when molotov cocktails are thrown, we would have more funerals than you in the middle east...
6. well after u demolish their homes and..
Adam ,   k.q.   (05.14.11)
toss them into the streets and bring "peaceful jews" to live in their place, they shouldnt speak a word bcoz they'll be accused of barbarism if not shot dead..
7. Autopsy was denied by the family
Raphael ,   Netanya   (05.14.11)
Is our fabulous justice not able to issue an ivestigation order? This is the case in any legal state when there is a violent death. Are our judges submitted to palestinian interests?
8. Since the Palestinians want war it looks
DT ,   TA Israel   (05.14.11)
like they will get it - and lose again
9. #2 You are right ansolutely
DT ,   TA Israel   (05.14.11)
10. Jews should be out by the thousands too
nero ,   nyc   (05.14.11)
Massive counter demonstrations should silent the Arabs.
11. Violence
Jorge ,   Israel/USA/Argentina   (05.14.11)
Unfortunatelly the system is not working. I do not agree but we have been in war for 63 years, it is time for Israel to create our own "militant group"
12. Typical Arab cycle of violent entitlement
William ,   Israel   (05.14.11)
They run into the streets, violently riot, hurt (and sometimes kill) people, claiming it's their right under Intl Law (though I've never been able to find such a law).... when they get hurt, they run into the streets, violently riot, hurt (and sometimes kill) people, claiming it's their right under Intl Law..... etc., etc. etc. Amazing - out of all the kids who ARE seen throwing rocks and causing destruction, the only one's who get shot or detained by the police are "never involved in disturbances of any kind before".
13. @5: Deadly weapons
Adam ,   Golan Heights Israel   (05.14.11)
Wanna attack with deadly weapons? Don't cry when someone retaliates with another deadly weapon. If someone through a petrol at me, or at anyone else, no matter where I was, I would shoot the murderous animal! People who throw petrol bombs deserve no better.
14. Whaddya gonna do? Shit happens.
Noodles ,   Coney Island   (05.14.11)
15. #4 Terry
Marcel ,   Florida   (05.14.11)
Israel ties their own hands in order to be loved by the rabble and scum of the world. It is a spiritual sickness to care about what the hypocrites and perverts think of Israel and ignore God. Is there no cure for what ails weak, beggarly, groveling Israel ? Yes ; Return to the LORD !
16. #6 - So Israel should give a special law to Arabs, then?
William ,   Israel   (05.14.11)
Because it seems Israel has the same laws regarding housing and permits, and follows property ownership laws which are similar to those in a majority of countries - and that still angers people like you who want Arabs to have special Apartheid treatment. 1) Homes demolished (including Jewish ones) were built illegally. They should be taken down, just as they are in the US, EU, China, etc. for the same violation. 2) Why is it an issue to have Jews live in an Arab neighborhood if they own the property? The Supreme Court accepted the proof of Jewish ownership (after being ethnically cleansed by Jordan in 1949), and the occupants admitted they never paid for the home. Every time I heard of stories of Silwan, it was always Arabs stoning a Jewish home and Leftists harassing them from outside. It's a shame that people like you support their barbaric behavior because of their racist intentions to keep land they stole. Perhaps Israelis should respond the same way to Arab violence, the lives they've disrupted, the homes and businesses they've destroyed - take to the streets, rocks in hand, target any Arab, and destroy their cities with their own hands. Or is this a right only Arabs have? Hypocrite.
17. i bet you they killed him and they blame israel for it
aj ,   CA   (05.14.11)
as always, it will take just couple of weeks to realize this. but when it will be known, no one will remmember the insident.
18. "would you use live rounds on Jewish kids protesting?"
William ,   Israel   (05.14.11)
In response - I've never seen Jewish kids use rocks and molotov cocktails during protests. The 2005 Gaza pull-out protests are a good example. Jewish kids protested heavily but peacefully. They blocked roads, and that was it. You send your kids out to be violent and tell them Jews have less rights, like to live in any city and to live in homes they actually own. Of course they will attack people they see as sub-human - your ilk have been doing it for centuries.
19. #15 Marcel, no wiser words spoken. I check your blog daily.
Noodles ,   Coney Island   (05.14.11)
20. clear the streets
Paul Freedman ,   Falls Church USA   (05.14.11)
It is unacceptable for Israeli authorities to permit the Palestinians to work themselves up to mass violence in waves of self-incited riots, loss of life, funerals, more incitement, more violence. Not only police but IDF need to apply blanket coverage to Palestinian disturbances and shut them down.
21. Those "radical settlers" bought those homes legally
Nick Sporek ,   Jerusalem, Israel   (05.14.11)
Riot police use rubber bullets. I'm sure his own just needed a martyr to get more support for their cause.
22. @5 Who shot him?
joe ,   st louis usa   (05.14.11)
No autopsy, no evidence. At the time Israeli police were firing rubber bullets and the "protestors" had guns too except with real bullets. So who fired the shot? Was he even killed? Was he ever there? Remember recently the "tear gas" incident? Same set of facts, same refusal for autopsy, eventually we found out that the woman who supposedly "died of tear gas" was not even present at the demonstration. I'm not saying it's absolutely impossible that Israeli police fired a shot, but it's a pretty serious accusation to make based on no evidence, and it wouldn't be the first time that Palestinians started riots based on incorrect information.
23. #5 eoprue, despite what you may think
BEN JABO ,   ISRAEL   (05.14.11)
a "Molotov Cocktail" isn't intended for drinking, it was designed and used to knock out Nazi tanks, by incinerating the target when hit, they are death dealing devices !! I wonder if you would defend their use if one was thrown at you, and proceeded to make you the latest victim of a Molotov Cocktail barbecue
24. If one comes to kill you, kill him first.
USA   (05.14.11)
Words to live by.
25. sorry
Adam ,   k.q.   (05.14.11)
I know that I said silly things all the time, I advise my fellow Arab countrymen to come here where we don’t ever demolish any houses
26. Days of blood and violence
Ilene ,   new york   (05.14.11)
#25 - If you are in fact real, thank you. I think that the Palestinians would gain a lot more with peaceful resistance than violence, as violence begets more violence.
27. #6 Adam , You should have checked
BEN JABO ,   ISRAEL   (05.14.11)
the History of Silwan prior to sounding off in all your ignorance Silwan had a rather large Jewish presence before the Arabs drove the Jews out during the 1939 riots Many of those homes were stolen from Jews. If you were to ask a Silwanese for the deed to his home, he simply doesn't have one and never did, nor did his grandfather before him You're writing about a place you've never been to or seen and most probably have no intention of going to "Biblical sources describe Shiloah area as "the waters of Shiloah go softly" (from the Gihon spring) (Isaiah 8:6) and "the Pool of Siloam" (Nehemiah 3:15) watering King Solomon's Royal Garden and later a staging area for Jewish pilgrims during the festivals of Passover, Shavuot and Sukkoth wherein the spring-fed pools were used to wash and purify the supplicants who ascend the Great Staircase to the Temple Mount while singing hymns based on Psalms. Talmudic sources describe Shiloah as the center of Eretz Israel (Zamib i 5). On Sukkoth water was brought from the Pool of Siloam to the Temple and poured upon the altar (Suk v. 1.) and the priests also drank of this water" I challenge you to find a single mention of Silwan, either by it's present name or historical, in the Koran As a matter of fact, Palestine and Jerusalem aren't mentioned in the Koran either
28. #5 eooorue, what a dumb question
BEN JABO ,   ISRAEL   (05.14.11)
from a person who writes a load of tripe about a place he's never been to He was shot because he threw a stone, with the intent of inflicting serious injury or death to his target Now, if you'll stop pretending knowledge of what's going on, get your sorry ass over here and take your chances with the rocks & Molotov Cocktails, be an eye witness instead of being a witless kibitzer As for other countries, take a look at what’s going on in Syria & Libya, to name just a few, when the people throw missiles at the authorities, they get cut down en-masse
29. teen killed on Saturday
judith ,   rishon, israel   (05.14.11)
Without a doubt the teen who was shot and later died during a 'Nakba' riot was shot, in error, by a fellow Palestinian. The Arabs are not allowing for an autopsy because they know that this is correct.
30. No need for Pali to redeem anything
Anna M Sedda ,   Rome-Italy   (05.14.11)
Jerusalem has been redeem already for the Jews 2000 years ago by Jesus, with His Own Blood...Sorry for all Arabs and Pali in the world....too late....Just done it....
