1. Even profissionals like Mitchell
RJ Kennedy ,   Canada   (05.14.11)
eventually see the reality of the situation. He tried his best but when confronted with an organization like the PA, Hamas & their assorted combines, one is dealt an impossible task. This would apply to anyone, not just Mitchell. Communication has to be mutual and based upon stated objectives, then dialogue focus's upon those aims. What we have here, with these Pals is total confusion and ridiculous motions. None anywhere in our world can dialogue with these entities. They neither state unequivocally what they are aiming for nor do they then commit themselves to this aim. That presents nothing but frustration and constant duplicity on the part of the negotiators and the Pals think this is the way to negotiate. Based upon all information and the reality that the Pals have no intention on real, constructive negotiation, this will end with massive loss of life. The Pals will then scream it was Israels fault all the while, their masses will continue to be shredded in the carnage. The Pals have nothing if not the constant resupply of bodies to enter the fray. Combined with their desire for jihad and their own deaths, they will expect to be killed. This is their motto. They indoctrinate the very young(3-4yr.olds) in their schools that it is their responsibility to die for the good of their peoples. What a way to live. What a way to die. Ridiculous and it will end with their annihilation. The western world will no longer continue to finance these people for the sole purpose of them creating war and death on the innocent Israeli's. This land is Israel. It was so from ancient times and they lived here and will continue too. If her neighbors are too beligerent or just do not want peace by dialogue then the only alterative is they will lose. Israel has been very careful not to kill innocents(not so the other sides)but this can not continue based upon what the Pals are doing. No country can exist for long if her neighbor is intent on her destruction. So it is with Israel. She is growing weary of this ridiculous charade by the Arabs. Soon, enough will be enough. The blame will lie on the Arabs, not Israel. Party ON!!
2. The arabs have no intentions to make peace with Israel
rachel ,   usa   (05.14.11)
Read Oriana Fallaci' s " interview with History" . She interviews arafat , he says:"The end of Israel is the goal of our struggle ", "We don't want peace . We want war , victory. Peace for us means the destruction of Israel and nothing else" , "Palestine is a dot in the great Arabic ocean" Why is it so hard for some people to believe that the arabs just don't want jews anywhere period. They say it plain and simple all the time .
3. After Mitchell please call Mr. Ahtisaari to do the job!
Jouko ,   Finland   (05.14.11)
The Noble peace prize winner former President Ahtisaari said that everybody knows how to reach the peace in the Middle East; you just must increase communicaton between the different parties - it is so easy. Poor Michell should have consulted Mr Ahtisaari.
4. PROOF POSITIVE
Mark from Georgia ,   USA   (05.14.11)
You see whenever you try to make any deal the Arabs take any concessions, as a sign of weakness. So when the USA convinced Israel to agree to a 10 month freeze in settlements. The Arabs thought, well lets see what else can we get? To quote the article HERE: "Netanyahu regrets that the Palestinians refused to come to the talks Mitchell was working to promote, piled on an endless number of preconditions that made his job more difficult, " The key was this phrase:, " endless number of preconditions" As soon as Israel caved (that was the way Abbas saw it) on the freeze, Abbas spent the next 9 months begging for more. When he finally agreed to sit down, there was only 1 month left on the freeze. Then Abbas used that as an excuse to stop the talks, if Israel didn't agree to extend the freeze (another condition). For Abbas and the Pals it's all a Pallywood PR game. They really don't want peace, just a way to blame Israel for the failures. Sadly, the leftist Morons buy into those silly lies. The the Arabs laugh at the West and how gullible they are. They rejoice in how simple it is to divide the people in the West along political lines.
5. Sick of Jewish claims based on history
Johan ,   Perth - Australia   (05.14.11)
Yes, Jews lived in the ME. The Indians lived in the USA and Canada. And lets not forget the Aboriginals in Australia. Israel however started in 1948 and whatever happened hundreds or thousands of years before that is irrelevant. So stop using what was or what is written in the bible to claim land that does not belong to Israel. Otherwise the Neanderthals may have some claims as well.
6. Abbas & the weak Obama are the reason for lack of talks
zionist forever   (05.14.11)
Its Bibi who has spent over two years trying to reach out to Abbas and Abbas who has been placing the obstacles in the way through preconditions. Bibi took on his coalition and offered an unconditional ten month building freeze to entice Abbas into talks. Abbas though he just created more preconditions to talks. Its only in the last month agreed to talk and the was probably more about an attempt of making him coming out of it looking like the good guy because he had no intention of taking talks seriously but he knew when the freeze ended Israel is the one who was the bad guy because Abbas was talking. Bibi has disgustingly been putting building plans in Jerusalem on hold and the only reason for that is to keep Obama & Abbas happy. Bibi offered Abbas recognize Israel as a Jewish state and he will get another freeze but Abbas refused, Israel is the only one who Obama has been trying to pressure into talking. When Abbas said no Obama went back to Bibi and told him Abbas says no so I want more concessions from you. Then the south American countries started recognizing a palestinian state it just made Abbas feel more and more justified in refusing to talk because he could have his state without talking. If Obama had been serious about trying to get deals done he would have banged heads together and taken an independent approach. If he had been willing to blame Bibi when its his fault the talks are not happening and blame Abbas when its his fault rather than just showing unconditional support for Abbas things would be different.
7. Mr. Mitchell, no doubt, could have been more successful...
Jehudah Ben-Israel ,   Qatzrin, Israel   (05.14.11)
... in his mission if he had set out from the beginning to demand of the Muslim-Arab world, local and regional, to accept Israel's RIGHT to be, to exist as the nation-state of the Jewish people. This message could have been delivered early on, when Obama spoke directly to the Muslim-Arab world at Cairo University. He could have said: My heart is with you - which of course it has always has been, and they know it - but I am also aware of the fact that Israel is here by historic, ethical and legal right the national home of the Jewish people and I, a very close friend of the Muslim-Arabs, want you to accept it and on the bais of which we can see to it that an accommodation of peaceful coexistence is reached. But neither Obama nor Mitchell could bring themselves, for whatever reasons, to state to themselves and to their Arab friends what is right and what is wrong, thus we find ourselves where we have been for a long time: one side eager to achieve an accommodation of peaceful coexistence while the other is eager to achieve peace with only the existence of one side. The former being Israel and the Jewish people, while the latter the Muslim-Arab world...!!

i agree completely with you. it is high time that somebody dares to say this, with all that self-pity and victimhood-role. this i could not have said in a better way myself.
10. history
Steve Love ,   Houston, US   (05.14.11)
In a meeting in Washington Mr Netanyahu look at Mr Abbas's eyes and said "Your Father and My Father came together for the funeral of "OUR FATHER". Then he asked the question "Why can't we come together to resolve our issues?". We cannot ignore the facts of the history. Disputes must be resolved. In that process we all should be willing to win some loose some. Apply the principle of Give and Take. There is an answer for all the problems. Our willingness to yield is important. Mr. MItchel did his best and I pray to God to bless him a Peaceful and Joyous retired life with his family! With love and prayers, Steve Love
11. Bibi - we blame YOU!
me   (05.14.11)
12. benjamin netanyahu
justice for all ,   world/planet earth   (05.14.11)
he can only blaming others(palestinians and other arabs) for his faults/mistakes with his arrogance first he has to look to himself before blaming/criticizing others. hey bibi improve the world and begin with yourself! he accused that abbas has chosen for hamas instead of him and of "peace" only on his terms. and let us realize that bibi has chosen for the zionist/ultra/extreme-right settlers of the west-bank, for the blockade of the gaza-strip, for the surpression of the palestinians and for the occupation of palestinian land. etc. instead for negociations/peace with the palestinians. who is he to blame others? he also has to realise why (if we agree or not) hamas came into existence in 1987 after many years (since the 19th. century) also of zionist unwillingness to divide the land with the palestinians in trying to reach a just peace. iam also against islam(ism) and some palestinians have also committed crimes/atrocities in the conflict. there are also good and bad palestinians and other arabs.

14. Jordan is Palestine
Wise Saba ,   Israel   (05.14.11)
A Palestinian state exists, it's called Jordan. Now stop your wining & go home. Arabs, you are squatting on our Jewish land, get the h%#l off it & go home, now!
15. #5 if you don't know what is going on , shut the hell up
rachel ,   usa   (05.14.11)
so many moron always commenting and knowing nothing
16. #14
Frank-el ,   Seattle USA   (05.15.11)
Using your own logic, then an Israeli state exists on 1948-67 borders, so perhaps you should adopt your own language and stop squatting on other land and get the h%#1 off it and go home, now. Then annex the west bank and Gaza to Jordan and be done with it! Oh, did I forget that since you are so "special" that double standards and hypocricy don't exist for you? And Bibi's effete whining to Mitchell proves he is a politician and a politician only. Israel needs a statesman if this mess is ever to be fixed.
17. It is true
PAL   (05.15.11)
The PA set Obama up, they got the settlement freeze, no they are going outside direct talks, the general assembly. Pressure will not work, the majority of the countries in the general assembly are basket cases who have no credibility. All Israel needs is for a percentage of the major developed countries to vote against it and push for direct talks. Under Obama's policy of outreach to the Muslim world it is not a good look to be seen taking the Palestinians behind the Whitehouse and giving them a good kicking. But that is what would happen if the Republicans get elected which is unlikely. You saw Rice at the UN it was like she was passing stones, but after ruining the Egypt/Israel alliance and the southern flank, Obama was not going to kick Israel again and vote for that resolution. So the Palestinians do not have it their own way. People say Israel does nothing for America, the decision of a moderate response to Hamas in Gaza after the recent escalations was because we know Obama does not need the drama and we now the Palestinians game plan to increase pressure on the US and put the US in a corner. The response to Egypt, Israel accepted it with little hostility, if it had been anyone else there would have been a response.

it is not to you to decide where the palestinians may live. and what can be said about the jewish zionists/zionist jews who made alyah to "israel" from europe, north-america etc? at first it is to the palestinians themselves to decide this. do you want to pay (money) for a palestinian emigration to jordan by yourself and for the settlement there? if you have such a great interest that this happens, you should be willing to pay the price yourself gladly for this "good" and "noble" cause. there is a palestinian population who has always lived in the land between the river jordan and the mediterranean sea. jordan is the land/country for the jordans/jordanians, as syria is the land of the syrians, as germany is the land of the germans etc.

everybody has the freedom of speech and expression, unless you are being hurt, insulted, slandered by another. did this happen to you now? i do not think so. so that other person has the right on her/his opinion even if we do not agree with eachother. let us try to stay decent to eachother even if we have other opinions.

RJ Kennedy ,   Canada   (05.15.11)
I've followed a few of your posts. It seems if anyone says or suggests anything contrary to your sense of acceptance you denigrate the person, not the content. Is this synonomous with others of your ilk? Or, are you special in this respect? In either case, the message you send is not one of acceptance by anyone of good will. You may have a fanatical desire to pursue your aims, and yours alone but it might hold your comments in better staid if you were to contribute more illuminating suggestions rather than just denigrating the person. Most individuals who take time to comment are seriously interested in contributing by way of thought provoking talkbacks. I've yet to see any from you. Why is this? I almost come to the conlusion your hate and dislike of any not conforming to your expectations to take presidence over all. Try contributing by including material that is open and honest enough for fellow readers to be able to check for varication. You might find such more helpful and informative. Even to yourself!!! Have a better day, you might if you try.

Mark from Georgia ,   USA   (05.15.11)
First as the Arabs themselves have admitted numerous times, the Arabs that call themselves "Palestinians" are a recent invention. The Arab leaders have admitted this, they were created as a new tool to use as a weapon against Israel, period. So the false people you defend are a myth, and it's an indisputable fact. Any Arab history book written prior to 1940 talks extensively of this issue, all agreed on one idea, that Lebanon, Palestine, Jordan (trans Jordan) were all part of a "a Greater Syria" (part of Southern Syria) that all Arabs were really a one united and inseparable people. These remarks were made by the Arab leaders themselves at the British Peel Commission, In front of the UN in 1956, and on many other occasions. No, the Arabs have NOT always lived on the land, in fact, many abandoned the land. It wasn't until the Jewish people started in 1880, and began to work the land, which created jobs, that Arabs started to come to Palestine (from other countries, Egypt, Lebanon, Turkey etc.), for the jobs created by the Jewish people. So when you write the Arabs have always "lived on the Land", clearly that's false. They lived in the other countries I listed above, and only recently came for jobs. The Ottoman Empire has census figures they took throughout those years that prove that to be an absolute FACT. So your post and everything in it, is false, right? Now admit your mistake and move on.

the jews, hebrews and israelites were not the only inhabitants of that area. have you ever heard of the canaanites who lived there before abraham came. (see: genesis in the bible). i stay with my opinion that jews and palestinians have the same, equal rights to live in the land between the river jordan and the mediterranean sea for getting a just, lasting peace, maybe by ending both islam(ism) and zionism. of course it is up to both peoples to decide this and in what way eventually by good mediation. to decide by what mediation also has to be decided by both peoples to try to end the conflict and to make peace.
