Salma - you Arabs have spent your entire existence being pushed around and dominated by dictators of one form or another. Even now, there is no "Arab Spring". There are some attempts by Arabs in Egypt and elsewhere to achieve freedom and liberty, but they aren't even close to it yet. You Arabs who call yourselves "Palestinians" have repeatedly refused independence and repeatedly subjected yourselves to brutal leadership of Fatah and Hamas. What "free people in the free world" are you talking about? You mean that freedom loving people who live in free western democracies want a new country called "Palestine" (that never existed before, as we all know) that will be just another brutal Arab dictatorship? Dream on, Salma. Ain't gonna happen.

Israelis do want a Palestinian Arab state if that means an end to the conflict, no violence anymore, end to the process of undermining Israel's legitimacy, absence of Palestinian Arab efforts to make life miserable for Israelis, a true kind of peaceful relationship between peoples, no security threat. And Palestinians do want a Palestinian state , if it is a means toward undermining the security of Israel and eventually destroying it. i.e. The great majority of Israelis do want Peace. The great majority of Palestinian Arabs do want the destruction of Israel. Thus the establishment of a Palestinian Arab state will always be for Israel a gamble, a risk in the way Oslo was. Oslo did not work out. Will a Palestinian Arab state? At this moment it does not seem likely or even very attractive. But the alternatives do not seem very attractive either.

Who wanted Israel? The League of Nations after WW1 and the UN after WW2 . The Palestinian Arabs don't want a state of their own actually - but they do want one thing above all: to destroy the Jewish state and grab all its assets.

The land of Israel belongs to Jews. Those Arabs who remain in Israel, some of whom have been crafted into a group called Palestinians to be a torn on the side of Jews, will have to go. All this talk of state and non-state is not consistent with the land belonging to Jews, and therefore a waste of time. The sooner Jews realize this and unite behind it the sooner we will have peace.

Plocker has it right when he says no Arab entity - Pals included - really want a Palestinian state alongside Israel, although the US led by O enthusiastically supports it and even Israel would go along with it under reasonable circumstances (which will never materialize of course). What he misses, and what it seems everyone posting also misses, is that there is also no interest in a Palestinian state INSTEAD of Israel. If Israel heaven forbid WERE destroyed, do you think a Palestinian state, democratic or otherwise, would pop up? Not a chance. Egypt would grab one piece, Jordan a slice and Syria the rest -- and that would be the PERMANENT end to the dream of a Palestinian state. Let 1948-1967 be your guide.

Most Americans I know disagree with forcing Israel to accept a Palestinian state. Only the American LEFT wants this, and they are only about 20% of the population. Unfortunately, one sits in the White House. The rest of us support Israel!
