Demand for special compensation for Child Holocaust Survivors is rather far fetched by now. The child survivors are now in the age group of seventies and eighties. I am myself in this group as I was deported from my native Hungary to a labour camp in Austria in the age of 11. We indeed lost our childhood due to the nazis, and this was followed by the loss of our youth during the communist regime, following the occupation of countries in Eastern Europe by the Russian Army. There is no way to "sweeten the memories" through the claimof a the addition of a few euros to the monthly allowance. Instead, it might be sensble to reduce the burocracy sorrounding the dispensation of aid and information due to survivors at present.

openid (signed in using AOL) like my parents, survivors of Auschwitz and Buchenwald, the oldest Holocaust survivors have died. Those who were very young deserve this financial assistance. The problem is the Holocaust Claims Conference has allowed funds to be stolen or mismanaged. Will the same thing happen with these funds? I have suggested in the past that funds be given to children of Holocaust survivors who have great trauma. No Holocaust survivor should go without medicine or food. Rabbi Dr. Bernhard Rosenberg
