Salma ,   Palestine / Jordan   (05.16.11)
I know I don’t make any sense, but saying that I am fake? I am like all my Arab bothers and sisters, we don’t make any sense but will will screw things up.
32. Make the border impassable.
Michael ,   California, USA   (05.16.11)
As this incident shows, the border should be made impassable to civilians. A wall would work, or a separation strip of land which would be easy to patrol. The threat of repeat incidents involving many more protesters should be taken seriously. International PR campaign after each such incident would not be necessary then and this would defray part of the cost of a border which would be impossible to pass.
33. "martyrs" shouldn't complain
david ,   new york   (05.16.11)
if you come across the border preparing to "die as a martyr", then don't complain when your wish is granted. israel is well within its rights to shoot anyoneone infiltrating from syria. i hope next year 1,000,000 try it. as an aside, i wouldn't be surpised if these were iranian shahids trying to prop up their brutal allies in damascus
34. What Most Talkbackers Fail to Realize is
Doug ,   Rochester, USA   (05.16.11)
1. They did not cross into Israel. They went from one part of Syria to Golan Heights, Syria. Read UNSCR 242. 2. Even if they had crossed into Israel, that is not justification for the IDF to fire live ammunition into crowds of UNARMED CIVILIAN PROTESTERS! Does the PA have the right to execute any Israelis that illegally cross into PA land?
35. You have no one but to blame yourselves
Ali ,   New York   (05.16.11)
Is this for real?Syrian Government killing its own citizens by hundreds on daily basis, and some nut cases trying cross the border illegally getting killed being complained? This is Arab mind set. There is no sense of logic. I cant believe how stupid these people can be for following their own leaders. You have no one but to blame yourselves.
36. To: No. 11
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (05.16.11)
It's the Arabs who are the squatters. Palestine was virtually uninhabited when the Jews of the First and Second Aliyot came. It was the Jews who pushed back the desert and cleared the swamps; it was the Jews who turned a barren and godforsaken place into a lush and fertile garden. Only then did the Arabs find it attractive; only then did they come with their invented history. There have been six wars -- all started by the Arabs -- and seven decades of unrelenting Arab terror. How many bites at the apple do you think the ersatz "Palestinians" should have? How many wars does Israel have to win before the ersatz "Palestinians" understand that they are a vanquished people?
37. And if
Doug ,   Rochester, USA   (05.16.11)
3 If Palestine where really a state, will they fire in Israelis crossing? 4 I know The Golan is now under Israeli control, but nice people should be able to enter any country they choose.
38. #34 Doug in Rochester, What You Fail to Realize Is
Kyle ,   Southpark, CO, USA   (05.16.11)
1. Syria launched an attack on Israel from the Golan Heights. They lost. Even though they might CLAIM the Golan Heights for their own, they do not in fact own it. It belongs to Israel. 2. How do you know they were unarmed? They did not pass through any checkpoints or metal detectors. They could all have been wearing bomb belts for all anyone knew. 2.5 Does the PA execute any Israelis that cross into PA land? Do you remember the 2 reservists who took a wrong turn into Ramallah?
39. to #11 Biggar Thomas
Dallas ,   Canada   (05.16.11)
You have swallowed the Arab narrative. Go to the neighbor's borrow a book and read history. Go beyond the town limits and learn about how things work in the real world. It is not their land any more than your house belongs to the Indians. Actually you have less claim than Israelis do. Read. Learn. Then post.
40. eat my shorts
to Salma/ Doug ,   Israel/USA   (05.16.11)
funny, you guys posting in an Israeli newspaper, about how you disagree, about this and that, LOL nothing to say except haha, we won the war, we control our territory now, whether you like it or not.
41. Killing Protesters howard for canada
Moragh   (05.16.11)
at 14. What a silly, silly comment you write. You should not vent your remarks unless you are knowledgeable about the situation. Hush now!
42. #35
Ugo ,   UK   (05.16.11)
Yeah and everyone on 9/11 deserved to die too because they had a bad leader right? It's your kind of logic that's warped. People complaining about being killed? How dare they! Such lack of regard for human life is why your country is so despised today.
43. Answer to number 11
Dr. Michael Davidson ,   Nashville TN   (05.16.11)
One state with equality is NOT a Solution and NEVER EVER WILL BE! Muslims are only happy if the country is Muslim and all others can live their at their whim. The concept of Dar Al Islam pervades the Muslim World. Read and learn. There will never be equality with the Muslims in charge. NEVER. And history supports my sentiments. if the Muslims get out of hand, end them. Thank G-d Israel has Nukes and lots of them. The Muslims will think twice, because the ultimate price is no more Damascus, no more Beirut, No more Tehran, No more Mecca, no more Aswan damn--among other places. Remember the slogan NEVER AGAIN. The Jews have the subs, they have the weapons and the Muslims understand one thing only, Strength. Just show me how history, ancient or modern , supports your assertion. I know it supports mine.
44. Why is the border not mined?
Maurice ,   Los Angeles, USA   (05.16.11)
I would think that any border with a country that is at war with Israel should be heavily mined. I hope that steps are taken to rectify this.
45. Hey Doug #34 Unarmed?? And at best its "disputed"
GZLives   (05.16.11)
to a lost war waged against us despite any UN nonsense ... like Libya and Syria on a UN Human Rights Council ... zero credibility anymore so screw them and anymore Arabs come crashing across should be shot dead - no different then what they'd do to us
46. Israel has annexed the Golan dummy
Claudia ,   Tampa USA   (05.16.11)
after the Syrians lost their OFFENSIVE war of 1973, complete with a surprise attack on the holiest day in Judaism. Apparently you don't read international law that allows this little fact. So go back to Iran or Syria Doug where you will be welcomed. As for the Palestinians they much prefer sneaking into Israeli homes and murdering infants. Don't you dare try to make this the fault of Israel when it is murderous Islam behind everything these idiots do.
47. To #6 The Druze of majd al shams do not
jason white ,   afula, israel   (05.16.11)
serve in the I.D.F.! The ones from Ussufiya, Daliat al Carmel, Abu Snin and a few other villages do. We should have sent the whole bunch from majd into syria after the Six Day War.
48. #35
Naor ,   USA   (05.16.11)
Actually no, it was the Syrian invaders themselves who have no regard for their own life. It is they who illegally violated Israel's border, a crime which is well known to be punishable by death or serious injury. If you can't do the time, don't do the crime.
49. Waht #34 fails to realize
Maurice ,   Los Angeles, USA   (05.16.11)
1. Is if a country like Syria repeatedly attacks (5 times) another country and lose territory as a result, it has no legal right to re-claim it. 2. Resolution 242 deals with disputed territory which the Golan height is. Disputed means that ownership has yet to be established. 3. The Golan height is historically Jewish (over 3000 years of history). 4. The Palestinians lost their opportunity in 1948 and have kept making the wrong choices ever since. 5. Israel is tired of the double standard. Got it.
50. #42
Maurice ,   Los Angeles, USA   (05.16.11)
How dare you to compare the 9/11 victims to this. The 9/11 victims were just going about their everyday busness and got slaughtered by terrorists. The border incindent involved criminal trespassing by people whose purpose was to provoque an international incident. I guess I should not be surprised by the double standard that is prevalent in Europe these days.
51. These warmongerers do not sound like a very strong army
Serge ,   Montreal, Canada   (05.16.11)
People who are desperate to wage war have the capacity to take up arms, march to the Israeli border, and start shooting, I guess. But that sounds like a rather weak army. I do not predict great success.
52. No need for this
Devorah   (05.16.11)
If Israel popped a cap on every clown who breaches the border, there would be no incidents like this.
53. #34 Epic FAIL
Israel Israeli ,   Tel Aviv   (05.16.11)
You should stop spouting about UNSC and International Law, it is passe. What you fail to realize is that US, UK and France are blatantly violating a UN security council resolution in Libya by attacking a sovereign country, attempting to murder its leader, murdering his unarmed supporters, murdering his grandchildren, making at least 10% of the population refugees and are in the process of destroying civilian infrastructure. Unlike the Golan, which was a one-time matter where Israeli soldiers shot in self-defense, in Libya your country and its allies are continuously and illegally bombing civilians targets for no reason. Before you criticize Israel, you should condemn UK, France and your own leader Obama. And we haven't even discussed Obama's war crime of the extrajudicial execution of four unarmed men.
54. Dougy #38 you 1st
Gee ,   Zikron Yaakov   (05.16.11)
Your country does not allow people "enter any country they choose. " In fact no country on the earth does this. So why should we be the only ones? "If Palestine where really a state, will they fire in Israelis crossing? " You mean again, don't you? They already are doing so without having a country, so yes we expert the murdering terrorist bastards to continue to the same as they have. You are such a moron.
55. #11
Jez ,   Israel   (05.16.11)
and which Arab country would Mr Thomas suggest was used a model for peaceful coexistence between two peoples, with equality for all regardless of race, religion, gender and sexual orientation? Syria, or perhaps Iran (though that is not Arab of course)
56. To: No. 34
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (05.16.11)
The Golan Heights was formally annexed in 1982. It is now and forever a part of Israel. I do have a question for you, though. What would be the American response if several hundred Mexicans came charging across the border?
57. next time assad sends them well armed
bartow ,   usa   (05.16.11)
a 100 000 well trained palestinian refugees, and israel is a toast
58. Next year
Jorge ,   Israel/USA/Argentina   (05.17.11)
There is a problem defending the border for "un-armed" civilians The answer is providing a civilian defense. USA has the minuteman that shoot the mexican trying coming to USA. This method in u.n. aproved.
59. What if
Yaëlle Schlichting ,   Raubling Germany   (05.17.11)
The idea of a million Palestinians crossing the border is not so far away. +++ What if this really happens? What if a million pedestrians from the neighboring Arab territories cross the border without caring? +++ Can the IDF shoot them? I would say: No, they can't. +++ But from here we come to the next question: What can Israel do with a million illegal immigrants? +++ Right! Israel must do exactly the same as other countries. +++ In such a case Israel must prevent a humanitarian disaster. Israel must build camps where the immigrants can be held, until their identities and intentions are determined. +++ The illegal immigrants then must be held in these camps until they can be expelled to their home country or to a save third country. Until then, the illegal immigrants will have to stay in the camps. +++ make this clear to the potential immigrants and I bet, they wont come +++ Cynical? YES!
60. #3 Salma
Howard ,   USA   (05.17.11)
Jordan with over 60% of its population made up of so called Palestinians IS Palestine you ignorant moron.Jordan was created by the British from land that was supposed to have been part of Israel.I have also noticed that you like to read an Israeli newsite.Probably because you can't get the truth from an Arabic one and if you made a comment not to their liking there would be a knock on your door in the middle of the night and we would not have to hear your idiotic historically inaccute drivel any more.Could be a deffinite plus come to think of it.
