1. How naive
John ,   New Zealand   (05.18.11)
For hamastan "more opportunity" this lady promotes will be used as opportunity to get more and better arms to attack Israel with. The "opportunity" theory has been proven false countless times. This lady is really ignorant and should get some facts.
2. What An Idiot: Go Talk To Egypt!
EZ ,   US   (05.18.11)
Egypt has a blockade in place too: No Mention there as to why! Hmmm....just a wee bit anti-Israeli (anti-Jewish) nu? Apparently, hating the Jews make people's eye sight horrible and re-write the facts as well LOL! What an embarrassment these idiots are to humanity.
3. hmmm
pini   (05.18.11)
Seems she forgot about the israelis near gaza being bombarded with rocket fire everyday..but hey they're just jews so who cares.
4. simple answer. hamas take responsibility
ralph   (05.18.11)
for its people as a government should and declare it will live in peace, if not and they keep firing rockets that is definition of war, what can these simple minded europeans not understand about this. not really difficult unless you want to miss the obvious.
5. You should blame Hamas, not Israel
Dave from Brazil ,   Sao Paulo, Brazil   (05.18.11)
Hamas is the sole responsible for the suffering of the Palestinians in Gaza, because it uses its resources to promote hate and launch rockets against Israel instead of developing Gaza and helping its inhabitants.
6. Thehave enough missiles to fire at Israeli schoolbuses
Jorge ,   Tegucigalpa   (05.18.11)
The poor things in gaza, imagine, they have missiles and rockets aplenty to fire at Sderot and vincinity, also at Ashdod and Ashkelon, maybe if the effort to get weapons to hurt Israeli civilians woud be channeled to bring in welfare, food and medicines for their civilian population, things would be different, Gaza is ruled by Hammas, whose whole aim is to destroy Israel, they chose Hammas to rule them, why should Israel help them in any way.
7. If the Israelis would only be nice to the Palestinians
Stephen in New York   (05.18.11)
all would be well and peace will reign. It’s simple when you’re a European bureaucrat.
8. GEORGIEVA WANTS HUMANITARIAN AID TO A TERRORIST STATE?! A
GLENN ,   YUCAIPA,USA   (05.18.11)
VERY STUPID WOMAN!
9. My G-d!!!
AJ - Raalte   (05.18.11)
Her stupidity knows no bounds en her naivete is disgusting! Humanitarian crisis? What crisis? Give teh Gazans more chances? Yeah, sure... mor chances to kil Israelis, you mean!
10. Ms. Georgieva ignores Red Cross reports
Alex ,   Sweden   (05.18.11)
Apparently Kristalina Georgieva "accidentaly" lost the latest reports regarding the humanitarian situation in Gaza. The Red Cross report concluded there are NO humanitarian crisis in Gaza... The bias can't get any more obvious.
11. Typical Eu bla...bla and nonsense!
Gabriel ,   Budapest, EURABIA   (05.18.11)
What about terrorism and security issues? "Two wrongs don't make a right": Negating Israel's right to exist as a Jewish and democratic state prallel with Palestinian violance and terror. These two things make them suffer more and more. The ball is in the Arab's yard. Why do they vote for Hamas? Why do they educate their children to hate Israel? Ms Georgieva, don't be foolish and biased. Open your ear and listen to both side before coming back to us in Europe. The European tax payers want unbiased politicians and media!
12. Crisis
Jorge ,   Israel/USA/Argentina   (05.18.11)
Invest in business instead of kasam will not be "humanitarian crisis" in a land with 12 universities, traffic jam and full market of food.
13. Is there a circus in town??
William ,   Israel   (05.18.11)
Because the streets are filled with clowns from the UN! "If more opportunities for Palestinians, will translate into security for Israel" A student of history, you are not! In 1999, the "Palestinians" had nothing but opportunities - freedom of movement in and out of Israel, the fastest growing economy in the world, and a State practically in their hands. They gave it up to commit terrorism against Israel based on Arafat's formula of erasing Israel. Gaza - Israel withdrew and left working infrastructure, land, and advanced greenhouses with a built-in customer base. Erez Ind employed many Gazans and goods were flowing. Plenty of opportunities for advancement and independence. Hamas destroyed everything and led the into war and oppression. So you see Madam Retard, your claim only exists when you wear the rosy glasses of the West, and ignore the real reason "Palestinians" kill.
14. Humanitarian crisis in Gaza?? No today, Madam.
William ,   Israel   (05.18.11)
The UN declares it relies on many NGOs for credible information and support of populations at risk. Many NGOs and intl politicians have declared there is NO CRISIS in Gaza. Apparently, while the UN trusts the word of these NGOs in other situations, they will not when dealing with Gaza, despite the evidence. When politics enter humanitarian operations, corruption and lies follow.
15. "guarantees from Jordan and UN this is their land"
William ,   Israel   (05.18.11)
That's the thing...according to Intl Law, neither Jordan nor the UN can make that guarantee!! Jordan ethnically cleansed the region of Jews and stole their property, then illegally annexed it and flooded it with Arabs from Jordan. All of these actions are war crimes - but the UN appears to be complicit in these crimes, today as they were yesterday. That's twice - and "two wrongs do not make a right".
16. Why didn't see tour Sderdot & Beer Sheva
John Phee ,   Sydney, AUSTRALIA   (05.18.11)
If she had toured Sderdot & the Negev towns under hams rocket fire maybe she may have a different idea.
17. She has no clue at all, does she?
Zvi   (05.18.11)
'If Palestinians had more opportunities, it would translate into more security for Israel,' That is one of the most ignorant and stupid comments that I have ever seen about Gaza. Does she know anything at all about Hamas?
18. Georgieva
Jennie ,   Israel/US   (05.18.11)
Where was this EU humanitarian commissioner in the last couple decades ? There must be something wrong with her factual history perception...How can a crisis be artificilly created ? And doesn't she have a clue of why are there blockades or crisises What about terror attacks on Israel...Day after day....Opportunities ? Wow...If they didn't get enough opportunities and support to the tune of billions of $$, don't know who did ... Assistance ? Israel is assisitng the palis in more ways, any other countries ever assist their friendly neighbors, let alone enemies ...This is disshonest , but nothing new for a EU commisiioner to act as she does. Is she implying that Israel owes the palis the opportunities in exchange for secutirty ? Shame on her !
19. There is no crisis
Gee ,   Zikron Yaakov   (05.18.11)
She should really learn to read UN reports. There is no crisis whatsoever. Second is the fact that it is totally a self-inflicted blockade. We have been attacked tens of thousands of times and refuse to accept it. The Arabs are totally at fault and should be destroyed and driven back to Egypt where they came from.
20. opportunities for gazans
Mark ,   USA   (05.18.11)
If only the poor Palis had more opportunity (for killing Jews) then there would be no "crisis". I love how everybody has suggestions for "no crisis", "peace" etc. and it all involves Israelis backing down until ultimately they surrender their country. Gotta hand it to the arabs..they really got their act together..what they couldn't do in war they certainly seem to be getting their way without open war.
21. Great idea! Just convince Iran to not import weapons.
joe ,   st louis usa   (05.18.11)
22. The "humanitarian crisis" doesn't exist!
joe ,   st louis usa   (05.18.11)
Compared to inner cities even in the US, people in Gaza live longer and have lower infant mortality, more food, more shelter. Also compared to Turkey. We should all be so lucky to live in that kind of "humanitarian crisis." Now the POLITICAL crisis in Gaza (abusive government) is another story. But she doesn't care about that does she.
23. World's most vulnerable
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (05.18.11)
She might want to turn her attention to the Indian subcontinent, the Philippines, 80% of sub-Saharan Africa, pretty much all of Central America and a considerable portion of South America. As it is, she hasn't in the past, shows no interest to do so in the present and no inclination to do so in the future. Just another fraudulent toadie of terrorist thugs. No one is starving in Gaza. Would that could be said for so much of the rest of the world.
24. Palestinians have had plenty of opportunities
Kyle ,   Southpark, CO, USA   (05.18.11)
But, they never miss an opportunity to miss an opportunity.

group to lord over them and keep up their Anti-Israel delusion. The cause of the blockade was their decision to support terror and participation in terror. Nothing else. How can someone be so short sighted? The woman is an idiot. She should be in politics! DOH! Bah Barbarians!
26. Memo to Georgieva: There is no crisis in Gaza.
Raymond in DC ,   Washington, USA   (05.18.11)
Only this week I viewed a promotional video put out by the Gazan authorities showing its tourist sites, its fine hotels and restaurants, its parks and recreation facilities, its bustling markets. Get real. Gaza is in better shape than Egypt. They get plenty of monetary aid - directly (in suitcases) or indirectly (laundered via the PA). Education and housing provided by the UN or EU do-gooders, water, fuel and reliable electricity provided from Israel, and truckloads of goods streaming thru Ashdod. No country waging war on its neighbor has ever had it so good.
27. Madame Georgieva
Shaul R ,   Portland, USA   (05.18.11)
Madame Georgieva must have come up the Komsomol hierarchy, as she speaks like a true old fashioned Bulgarian apparatchik. But then again, this is the perfect set of skills to succeed in the EU bureaucracy. 1. She mentions a purported humanitarian crisis in Gaza and West Bank in the same breath. I would like to know what her definition of humanitarian crisis is, as there seems to be very little which resembles such a thing in Gaza and none at all in the West Bank. 2. On the other hand, there is no denying that the living standards in Gaza have fallen in the last several years, as demonstrated by the increase in the number of humanitarian aid recepients. Ironically, much of that is a result of Jewish settlements being evacuated in 2005, which used to provide thousands of well-paying jobs, as well as the loss of jobs in Israel proper due to security concerns. The truth is, Gaza is not economically viable as an independent state, and the only way for it to raise the standards of living (other than receiving increased handouts from international donors) is to cooperate with Israel. Same goes for West Bank. However this cooperation, when not outright impossible due to cross-border hostilities, is discouraged by the Palestinian Arab leadership. 3. The Israeli blockade or whatever is left of it (as most of the goods are allowed to pass freely through border crossings) can be stopped overnight by Hamas simply declaring its recognition of Israel, ceasing all hostilities and incitement, and returning Gilad Schalit. I would think that these goals would be shared by any peace-loving liberal-minded person, such as Madame Georgieva appears to be. I would suggest she uses her energies to achieve these goals. 4. Madame Georgieva obviously does not include Jewish population when she speaks for the “world’s most vulnerable”. She views the restoration of Jewish legal rights to the property they owned at the time of being ethnically cleansed from Jerusalem in 1948 by the Jordanian occupation, which, incidentally, only UK and Pakistan recognized as legal. It was illegal for Jordan to move Arab residence into these properties and restoration of legality can hardly be viewed as the proverbial second wrong the “doesn’t make it right”. In fact, Jews returning to their Jerusalem property RIGHTS A TERRIBLE WRONG.
28. Arab occupiers had more opportunity since 1967, but blew it
Marco ,   Spain   (05.18.11)
Each time their economic conditions were improving with the help of Israel they started again to commit terrorist acts and murdering scores of Jews. Finally Israel said enough and blockaded Gaza. Even this blockade the Gazans have everything they need and much more, they are only blockaded from rebuilding a stronger terror infrastructure. Now this mindless Georgieva comes up with the miracle solution of "opportunities" If she knew Middle East she would understand that only brute force works, she should travel 2 hours by car from Jerusalem to Damascus to witness this with her own eyes.
29. Riiight
Seth ,   Boston   (05.18.11)
The only thing removing the blockade will do is give the "Palestinians" more opportunities to terrorize Israeli civilians.
30. Humanitarian Aid Commissioner Kristalina Georgieva
Ovadyah ,   Hales   (05.18.11)
You Can start with the HAMAS leadership and get them to remove the clause that demands the removal of Israel . Then you can procede to get them to stop the terror attacks and qassam fire. and convnce them to sue for Real peace Not Just Hudna... Israel is more than interested in a just and constructive peace... but the other side also has to be willing to do the same. convince Hamas of that Commissioner Kristalina Georgieva and your goal would be a worthy one...but I won't hold my breath!
