The French revolution turned into a bloodbath & led to the dictatorship of Napolean & even more bloodshed. The Russian revolution became an evil tyranny which caused the death of millions. The only successful revolution in modern times was the American revolution which was based on limited government, individual freedom FROM government.

What is required for freedom to reign, which is the opposite of totalitarianism, people must control their own finances, because money is power and if the government controls the finances they have all the power. Secondly, you need freedom of the press/speech. And lastly, the freedom to own and bear arms, because if you can't defend yourself against oppressive governments or individual criminals, you are dead.

I don't think that the arabs understand what democracy really means. Democracy only works if everyone feels very strongly about accepting others ideas and concepts. In the arab world, they think as democracy as a way of imposing their own beliefs, not helping others form theirs.
