What were exactly "your" "Palestine" borders in 1948? What was exactly "Palestine" ? Let me remind you that such a state did not exist.... such a nation did not exist... He offers only very little concessions to the Israeli viewpoint(he hardly condemned Hamas!), before he goes into his usual Israel-bashing routines. Why do American Jews keep voting for him in 80+ % numbers and raise money for him time and time again? He will likely be re-elected come November next year. It's clear that Israel had little to no input on this speech. It came out *after* he met King Abdullah II of Jordan, but on the eve of his meeting with Netanyahu. That had to be deliberate, as if to say "This is our policy. Tell me how you're going to implement it." Well, like Begin and Shamir before him, Netanyahu has to remind Obama that "Israel is not a vassal state." And to those who think Israel must do the conceding for the sake of peace, he must insist as Sharon said that "Israel will not play the part of Czechoslovakia". I read the full text of Obama's speech and it is rife with naivete and wooden-headedness. He sees the changes that have taken place in the region but, because he doesn't truly understand them, puts them in the context of the same overall policy that's left the US position in the region in shambles. This is Netanyahu's moment. He *must* stand for Israel's rights and national interests, even at the cost of exiting out the back door. As to Livni, all I can say is "Shame on you!"
