Obama deliberately threw Israel under the bus. There was no need for him to mention '67 borders at all. If he was truly a progressive man of vision and change, he would have said "within negotiated borders" full stop, rather than go backwards in time because the chaos and uncertainty in the ME now requires a paradigm shift in thinking and approach - and to go back to the '67 borders is counterproductive and archaic. We are in 2011 - pre-'67 borders is a retrograde step and it is OBSOLETE! Throw it out. There is no place for that in these times and circumstances. If it was not good enough for acceptance in '67, how the hell could it be good enough in 2011???? What is wrong with this man! Obama's speech has revealed his true intention to destroy Israel. In a nutshell, Obama offered "promises" in exchange for territory. He IMPLIED the "promise" of security while advancing a position that guaranteed Israel's destruction, albeit padding it with "negotiated". He is deceitful and wicked because he fully understands the repercussions on Israel. His word is worth nothing as he changes them like he changes his clothes and he does not honour past agreements. He is far worse than Carter. He attempts to cover his zeal for revolution by liberally using the term "democracy" never mind that the region is nowhere near prepared for such a thing. Obama shares the Ayres/Dorn revolutionary enthusiasm. He is ecstatic about the revolutionary chaos of the moment in the ME that he promotes under the guise of "democracy". He will leave a legacy of total chaos and insecurity in the ME as individual despots will be replaced by even more despotic Islamic organizations.

Yes, they were very indefensible before 1967 too. In those days the Jewish cities were easier to fire/shoot especially in galilee area in north. The farmers were unable to farm without Syrian troops harassing them with bullets from the golan heights. Once we captured golan heights in 1967 they could no longer abuse Jewish civilians. In addition having presence in Samaria and Judah hills offers Israel more defense. The situation was very dangerous for Israel pre 1967.
