Jordan blew that one out of the water when it refused to allow Jerusalem to come under international control in 1948. They thought they would get it all in 1967, and ended up losing Judea and Samaria besides. "International control" of Jerusalem is a dead issue. Has been since for quite a while. "Probable international military intervention?" LOL! Really? Which military?
62. Netanyahu's stupidity?
Joemichaelac ,   Denver, USA   (05.24.11)
It appears then that you would have Israel commit national siicide because that is what would happen if Netanyahu gives in to the Arab demands. By the way Marco, if you feel so strongly about Arab rights in Israel, then Spain should let the Muslims retake control of Spain and govern it with sharia law. The Muslims say that they want Spain back because it belonged to them once, therefore it will always belong to them! See,...the shoe's on the other foot now, you don't like that solution do you? And to tell you the truth, neither do I.

Netanyahu said the same old same old in the Congress today as many years ago. Obama knows nothing of how to spin a spin. Netanyahu ran circles around him. I loved it... Its all about the spin...Obama can spin like a top till he drops. Israel needs to establish facts on the ground. BUILD BUILD BUILD and BUILD some more.

UNGA Resolution 63/30 of 2009 states that "any actions taken by Israel, the occupying Power, to impose its laws, jurisdiction and administration on the Holy City of Jerusalem are illegal and therefore null and void and have no validity whatsoever, and calls upon Israel to cease all such illegal and unilateral measures.

id didn't end in a good way - for example, Berlin. this can't work. ever. it's exactly like you would say now that a government should be socialist - every single time "socialist" governments turned into COMMUNIST. THERE ARE THINGS THAT WOULD NEVER WORK, ANYWHERE.
72. Netanyahu's words highlight Israel's isolation
observer ,   Egypt   (05.24.11)
Israelis aren't enthusiastic for creating more enemies. Jewish Diaspora are fed with Israel. so, Netanyahu boasts American friendship as a substitute. He lied when he said he is ready to lead Jews in the abyss. he lied about the first but was correct about the second.

You've lived under the Ottomans, the British and Jordon. Their has never been a Palestinian state. It has always been the land of Israel. The fact that you don't understand this or refuse to admit it, is what will keep you where you are (nowhere). The Prime Minister's speech was terrific! When he mentioned Jerusalem, my heart stopped for a moment. Then he said out loud what we all wanted to hear, "Jerusalem will never be divided"! It will always be the capital of the Jewish People. To this the Prime Minister received another standing ovation.
75. Overall, He Did A Good Job, But....
Reuven Brauner ,   Raanana, Israel   (05.24.11)
1. He agreed to a "Palestinian" State - not good. 2. He accepted the idea that there is this thing called a Palestinian people (a fabrication) - not good. 3. "Painful concessions", whatever that means - really not good. 4. Only in his closing blessing, did he mention G-d, almost as an after thought - not good, at all. Everyone knows the Arabs will never agree to anything, but still Benjy has set a precedent in that he, as the Israeli Prime Minister, is agreeing to the suicidal two-state solution - as a given - not good. I, for one, am not all that happy with what I heard.

The UNGA has NO legal authority. From UN Charter Article 10 The General Assembly may discuss any questions or any matters within the scope of the present Charter or relating to the powers and functions of any organs provided for in the present Charter, and, except as provided in Article 12, may make recommendations to the Members of the United Nations or to the Security Council or to both on any such questions or matters. They are much like you blind and racist. I just hope Bibi shows as much backbone as his speech.
77. This is it. Beginning of the end...
Michael Steiner ,   Bahrain   (05.24.11)
If this idiot is not replaced by someone who has their head and their a$$ wired together, this day will mark the beginning of the end of Israel. Anyone who thinks that the current situation is viable and that we will somehow end up with all the territories one day is deluded bordering on schizophrenic. Netanyahu doesn't want a two-state solution? Fine. We'll end up with one state, outnumbered by the Palestinians. 60 odd years. We've had a good run. P.S. I love his quip about how protests in the Iranian parliament would not be allowed in the same way they are in the Congress. The irony was completely lost on him of how millions of Palestinians are not allowed to even reach the city where Israel's parliament is located, let alone make any protest there. Stones. Glass houses. Ah, but we're talking Bibi here, so never mind.

"We'll end up with one state, outnumbered by the Palestinians." No, because, our one state will include an annexed Judea and Samaria, from whence its Arab population will be repatriated to Jordan, country of their citizenship. "The irony was completely lost on him of how millions of Palestinians are not allowed to even reach the city where Israel's parliament is located, let alone make any protest there." What are you babbling about? Arabs residing in Israel can come and go to Jerusalem as they please. The Arabs who live in territories controlled by the "Palestine" Authority have no business in Jerusalem, but even they are allowed to enter in order to worship, visit family, et cetera.

Keep dreaming. Jerusalem belongs to the Jews as the undivided capital of their country. No matter how loudly the UN or a small dog barks about it, you will _never_ take Jerusalem from God's chosen people, the Jews.

The same thing occurred to me, and the points you raised are disconcerting. While applause, smiles and standing ovations are impressive, we should not be blinded by it. One has to wonder why, exactly, the U.S. Congress was so pleased. Ynet has a crawl running that says the White House is "content" with Bibi's speech. I would like to know how they are defining "content" in this context. As much as I like Bibi, I wish he had not opened this Pandora's Box before Congress. This isn't over by a long shot.

left wing press that has tried its utmost to denigrate, reprimand and belittle Bibi for speaking in truth and honesty which Obama himself declared as the tone of his meeting Bibi. Bravo for Bibi for an outstanding exposition of Israel's stand on this matter. He has done what was needed to be done and said what has long been needed to be publicly said. I have yet to see the address but from all accounts here, he was marvellous. Blessings to Bibi and the Israeli people!!! I shall surely watch Fox programs later as he will be on Hannity if I am not mistaken.

Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (05.24.11)
You are forgetting something. Israel formally annexed East Jerusalem and unified Jerusalem in late June 1967. A resolution enacted in 2009 has absolutely no force and effect. Sorry. Think of it this way: if the United Nations General Assembly were to enact a resolution tomorrow declaring the Suez Canal to be an international waterway and that Egypt could no longer unilaterally exercise control, impose its laws, jurisdiction and administration over the Canal and that any attempts to do so would be null and void and have no validity whatsoever -- what would be the Egyptian reaction, in view of the fact that Egypt nationalized the Canal in 1956? You are remarkably obtuse.
