1. How about saying something about the Arabs?
Gee ,   Zikron Yaakov   (05.24.11)
We have more than gone past half way to meet the Arabs and they have retreated instead of making any forward movement. They have never offered or accepted a single concession, they have increased their demands at every stage and you have done absolutely nothing. Now is the time to come clean and inform them that if they continue to ignore every one of their obligations will get nothing.
2. the used car salesman has made a sale
Michael ,   Haifa   (05.24.11)
And Obama is the sucker who bought it, with the "painful concessions"
3. Well, I for one, am certainly...
GideonReader ,   USA   (05.24.11)
...well pleased, that the current dullard and not particularly talented mouthpiece cum frontman for the ZerObama mis, mal and non-administration; is satisfied with PM Netanyahu's address to the combined houses of the U.S.congress. I don't think I could have gone on if Jay Carney were not satisfied with the Israeli PM's comments. What a sense of relief I feel, now that Sparky Jay has given his Heksher to the Beebster.
4. Last thing on His Mind is an election.
Ypip ,   Canada   (05.24.11)
5. Now that the theatre is quiet
Devorah   (05.24.11)
and the emotional orgasm is over, it is time to take stock of the fact that Bibi put Israel on the chopping block by recognizing "Palestine" and offering a two-state solution.
6. talk about a 'spin'
Bless Israel ,   USA   (05.24.11)
Obama's rebuke from Israel's Nethanyahu echoed throughout both the Democrats, Republicans, America, the world and especially to the disgruntled, losing, defeated, pals. They said it was a declaration of war upon the pal people. Excellent, maybe now they'll get the message. Israel dictates the terms not them. There can never be a pal state. Now, it's official.
7. As Abba Eban said,
Michael ,   California, USA   (05.24.11)
Palsestinians "will not miss an opportunity to miss an opportunity." True about Israelis also. As Americans, we have a lot of convincing to do to bring Israelis and Palestinians to the negotiation table. But in the end, it will be an imposed by Superpower(s) peace because direct negotiations will fail. Leading factor behind this failure will be the fascists on both sides: the fear by leaders on both sides to get assassinated if negotiations begin to lead somewhere.
8. Rudeina says Netanyahu's speech obstacle to peace
William ,   Israel   (05.24.11)
I say that Netanyahu's speech is an obstacle to the "Palestinian PIECE-plan" and a wrench has been thrown into the "Palestinian" efforts to garner support for Israel's demise. And for that, we say thank you, Bibi.
9. The bribed U.S. Congress.
Paul   (05.24.11)
So Nethanyahu plays the Congress card vs. Obama. So he's creating tensions between Obama and Congress. As we all know by now: AIPAC is involved in bribing and blackmailing U.S. Congressmen in order to secure support for Israel. So as the AIPAC puppets gave a standing ovation for Nethanyahu, we now know that not only Gaza and the West-Bank are occupied by Israel, but Washington too. However, thanks to Nethanyahu's friend pres. Bush, Obama has close to absolute power. So Nethanyahu still has to deal with Obama.
10. Will Tzipi Livni now at last shut up?
Raymond in DC ,   Washington, USA   (05.24.11)
Day after day she's bemoaning the "crisis" with the US, and the "damage" Netanyahu is doing. Will she now, after Bibi received (according to ABC News) 29 standing ovations, finally stifle herself? Obama leads just one of the three branches of government here; Israel still has the support of the American populace as a whole, along with their representatives in both the House and the Senate. The American connection is still vibrant and healthy.
11. Apparently, Paul #9, you didn't watch nor
Robert Haymond ,   IsraeléCanada   (05.25.11)
listen to Prime Minister Netanyahu's speech. He was greeted warmly and welcomed enthusiastically by both the House and the Senate. He was given countless standing celebrations of applause during the speech itself. Mr. Netanyahu spoke elegantly and clearly on behalf of the state of Israel. No one could have resisted his brave words. There was no control from AIPAC as you suggest. The American Congress recognized that Netanyahu, a true statesman, was right, responsibe and willing to complete peace negociations but never at the expense of the survival of our country. Congress concurred. We are true friends of the USA; not so the Palestinians nor any other Arab country. We have a democratic system (albeit, flawed) whereas the Arab nations are decrepit, corrupt and unadaptable. Obama has now been put on notice: Congress recognizes Israel`s loyalty and, in turn, is loyal to us. All of this was evident to anyone who actually witnessed this historic (for Israel) event.
12. Bibi was really perfect in...
ORA ,   JERUSALEM   (05.25.11)
the great art,to know till where ,he can go to far.
13. Re: Mofaz - If Israel holds elections now,
Harry Wright ,   UK   (05.25.11)
Netanyahu will get a landslide victory. For such an idiotic statement from his particular position, I would say Israel for sure does not need a PM of his questionable intelligence. He just might give away the Golan or think it is in Israel's interest to go back to the '67 borders. Itzik: whoever the cap fits must wear it. She should recognise genius when she sees it. Just think of it - it has to be pure talent to take "old statements" and make them shine like pure gold. If she does not have that talent, at least she should give him credit for his. Tibi: no need to waste any time with him.
14. Israel was the only Nation that
Balz Eist ,   Lower Askam USA   (05.25.11)
Israel was the only Nation that offered to send its own sons to rescue our Embassy people during the Iranian Revolution of 1979. Jimmy Carter refused the offer. Israel told our state department - you must rescue them within 48 hours. If you are not ready we will rescue your people for you. Jimmy Carter Refused..
15. Bibi's speech and the Left
DT ,   TA Israel   (05.25.11)
This must give the Left apoplexy and that they could not end"democracy"
16. 7
birdi ,   israel   (05.25.11)
Michael, you can lead a horse to water, but you cannot make it drink. Its about time you understand that Israel will never make peace with the terrorist organization, Hamas, who refuses to recognize Israel.
17. # 9
Dan ,   USA   (05.25.11)
Since it would be rude to say something nasty about you or your talkback I will not do so, but I believe you are wrong about Bibi having to deal with Obama. Obama is running for election in 2012 and as a result, this is the last bit of talk you will hear from him about what is happening in Israel. He hasn't the time nor intellectual capacity. New events will happen world wide that will lead Obama in other directions, so Bibi will wait him out until Nov.2012 when Obama becomes a one term president. The fact that you don't like Jews is your problem, we are here to stay.
18. IT'S ABOUT ONLY TWO THINGS
Mark from Georgia ,   USA   (05.25.11)
It boils down to two different states of mind. BiBi clearly stated in his speech that he ACCEPTS THE PALESTINIANS and their right to have a country. That he understands that Israel will have to make painful concessions. But he also stated the THE FACT that the Palestinians are unwilling to do the same. They WILL NOT SAY ISRAEL HAS A RIGHT TO EXIST. That in a NUTSHELL is the difference. Israel accepts the Palestinian right to exist. But Palestinians need to do the same, accept Israel right to exist as a Jewish state, and they won't. That is all this is about. If that gets done then all you need to do is define the borders. But the Palestinians won't do even that. So how can there be peace? If they can't even say verbally, that Israel can exist? So when it comes to blame, all the "stuff" is an Arab distraction. From the real reason why there can't be peace. It's all because the Palestinians will NOT say Israel has a right to exist, period. It's that simple.
19. we must support Bibi-wake up Israel!
yoni ,   tel aviv   (05.25.11)
Its unreal that our prime minister makes strong statements in front of the world to protect us and save the lives of our people and we dont support him. I am totally shocked that there are so many suicidal and naive Israelis
20. 17
birdi ,   israel   (05.25.11)
Kudos Dan, very well said.
21. The congress just bitch slapped Obama & they have the money
Bless Israel ,   USA   (05.25.11)
how little you know of America. We love Israel, always have, always will. Take your terror back to Tehran, it isn't acceptable here. Jerk.
22. AMEN!
Bless Israel ,   USA   (05.25.11)
23. W.H. satisfied - like they could be unhappy after ovations?
Rebecca ,   Modi'in   (05.25.11)
After the response Netanyahu got from Congress it would be political suicide for Obama to say anything against it. Obama is probably furious, not just from the lecture he got from Bibi, but from Congress's obvious support for Bibi's very strong speech. But if he'd said anything he would be speaking against congress, not Bibi.
