I have just come back from Toronto where so many old South African friends of mine live. I am so happy so many Jews have moved from South Africa to Canada. I find Canada to be welcoming, proud and a caring nation for its population. A great democracy, and awesome nation that other western nations could look up to. Thank you Canada, and the US congres for not being scared in these hard times.

Harper's Canada is a shining beacon of truth and morality. It shines especially bright in comparison with the dark cynicism and thinly veiled Jew hatred of most European political leaders. The world wold be a far better and safer place if America, and other democracies, were lead by people a tenth as good as Harper.

Kudos to Prime Minister Harper for his steadfast defense of Israel at the G8 Summit in removing the reference to the pre-1967 indefensible lines.

Everyone, please take into account that this is not a pro-Israel country. As a matter of fact, the population is quite unsympathetic to Jews and Israel. Doors were closed to Jews during the Holocaust, beaches used to have signs saying No Dogs and No Jews allowed, and there were quotas for Jews at universities. These days universities are a hotbed for virulent anti-Semitism. With a majority of immigrants coming from Asia and Africa, the anti-Israel sentiment is worse than ever. So PM Stephen Harper's strong support for Israel goes against the feelings of the electorate. It comes from his own sense of decency and righteousness. Even when he had a minority in Parliament and his government teetered on the brink, he never deviated from this unpopular stance. In spite of it he has just won a solid majority. I can say with confidence that if Israel decided to annex Judea and Samaria, he would stand in support of that decision. He's more Zionist than Netanyahu!!!

Doesn't matter what Obama, Harper say, Palestinians will never give up on their country. If Obama & Harper love Jewish occupation so much, they can move it to their vast countries. Jewish lobby already controls in both countries.

Stephen Harper, and his elected majority government have no special Jewish bond or connection to Israel. Only, continue to be a strong moral goverment, against terrorism - which includes the Fatah and Hamas goverments/unity. And in truth, right wing in Canada, is really left of most American Democrats, only Obama is living in another planet these days.

I never thought I'd support the conservative government in Canada. For the most part I have disagreed with their policies. Here at last is a reason to support them. "When Israel, the only country in the world whose ver existence is under attack, is consistently and conspicuously singled out for condemnation, I believe we are morally obligated to take a stand." I just wish Obama, Cameron, and Sarkozy would take a similarly strong position...sadly they can not be counted upon for such unwavering support

My French Canadian RC mother spoke to me when I was young about the 6 day war. She said that neighbouring countries had announced to the world that they were planning to attack Israel for months prior. Israel moved first at the boiling point with the result of securing land to better defend themselves. Today, I am very proud to be Canadian. Thank you Steven Harper.
