I agree 100%
2. Reduced dependence
Talula ,   Israel   (05.30.11)
At last! Someone who isn't secular, finally gets it, by seeing it!
3. Define blindly?
Josh   (05.30.11)
The very fact that only one book is written in the first person by a prophet and adding is illegal, really presents the big question "What do you mean by blindly?" Devarim 13 should open eyes and it sadly doesn't.
4. Thank you!
JEW1 ,   ASH & IL   (05.30.11)

It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.
13. Say it Rabbi, Orthodox Judaism is choking everybody.
Michael ,   California, USA   (05.31.11)
Not to become dependent on rabbis as leaders makes sense. As Einstein said: "question authority" and "unexamined life is not worth living." The Orthodox branch of Judaism has entrenched itself through the illogical claims for authority by its leaders. Those "leaders" are choking Israel and the rest of religious Judaism today. Demolish those Orthodox rabbis, remove them from positions of authority, and you will have formally achieved most of the independence religious people want. Of course I want more, but as the say it beineinu: "para, para."
14. R.Benny Lau gives us commonsense
Jewish Israeli   (05.31.11)
traditional Judiasm. Because he is so knowlegable, his lectures are always full house, and his manner is far from the condescending tone common with many well established rabbanim here.
15. Thanks!!!
Harry ,   Jerusalem   (05.31.11)
I thank Reform Dr Lau for his rebellious words of wanting people to be "free" and unyoke themselves from Torah guidance thru our Rabonim. I now feel more certain that the words of our Prophets regarding the "end of days" are nearer than ever. Lau is obviously ignorant of the past. His rebellious actions has the fingerprints of the '60's movement.
16. 13Michael Better off, listening..
ORA ,   JERUSALEM   (05.31.11)
to Rabbis, than eating.,because 300 people choke to death on food every year.
17. 8 - of course you agree with this
mike ,   israel (formerly usa   (05.31.11)
the rabbis all agree your teachings are treif, so the better for you if jews disregard their warnings.
18. #16 ORA, Choking
Michael ,   California, USA   (05.31.11)
Thanks for the statistics. How lucky I am to be alive after listening to so many rabbis and rebbetzns. You are my favorite rebbetzn, so clever and writing with humor, I could never get harmed.
19. Listening

R.Lau-You have taken an important point and made it useless.Do yopu have any guidelines, any boundaries?Should we ever listen to a Rabbi?

ORA ,   JERUSALEM   (06.04.11)
1]in Big Bang as the creator of our marvellous world 2]in an ape ancestor of human beings 3]in the hazard ruling of the world. Orthodoxe feel free to believe in G-D, In the Tora given by G-D to the Jews also in afterlife and if they wish in a Rabbi.
27. Laicization
Dictionary Man ,   Tel Aviv, Israel   (06.05.11)
1. To free from ecclesiastical control; give over to laypeople. 2. To change to lay status; secularize.
28. It is more women that like to blindly obey male Rabbis
Adam ,   Clifton, NJ   (06.05.11)
LIke they are the helpmate of the Rabbi and that is why Rabbis like women like more then men. Not that they believe in God more but do what the male Rabbis say. Very twisted IMO.
29. Amazing
Modulus ,   New York, USA   (06.05.11)
This got to me in a way so profound I don't have words to sum it up. It seems all the "movements" out there to catch and train diaspora Jews, like myself, would create a cohesion. Instead there is a spiritual turf war to recruit those who are on the fringe and the war is about who will retrieve the most souls to teach how to live, think and Daven in their particular way. Those without a Jewish upbringing are often made to feel inferior by people who hold custom on par with religious law.  In each sect's belief of what Judaism is they loose the opportunity to instruct and instead alienate those who look for guidance. The view this rabbi upholds is revolutionary in that it allows for unity through freedom rather than creating divisions by rigidity.
30. Respondng to #25
Ace ,   Skokie, Illinois   (06.05.11)
1. Sure we can,. You don't know how long those days were. 2. Darwin did not say that, but I am going to let you research what he did say. 3. What the heck are you talking about? It makes no sense. And the Torah was given to the Israelites.
