31. Palestine
Sam ,   nanuet usa   (05.29.11)
There is absolutly no reson for a second Palestine. Israel has been loathed to say the historical truth only becuse we have had a quiet border with Jordan. Jorden is Palestine, in fact Jordan carved out of 78% of the original Palestine Mandate. The Arabs want a second Palestine carved out of the true Jewish Homland that is Judea and Samaria. They want a second Palestine that is Judenrein. The time has come for Israel to say the truth, that Jordan is Palestine and that this is where they should seek their national aspirations. Jordan, a country that is already Judenrein by law. The natural boundry is the Jordan river. This is the only boundry that makes sense defensively. As for Gaza, one would hope that now that the Arab spring has brought the opening of the crossing into Egypt, that most of the Arabs in Gaza would flee into Egypt and Egypt would reoccupy Gaza. I am amazed at the left who demand egalitarian status, and rightly so for Arab Israelis, are so gung ho to create a second Palestine that is verbotten to jews.
32. Lebensraum. The ring of truth here...
dave ,   La Mesa Calif   (05.29.11)
Though a bit glib this is getting to the heart of matters. He makes far better sense than the absurd idea of 'defensible borders." (By that token it is the Palestinians who should be given more land cushion: remember, in '67 it was Israel that crossed the border FIRST , attacking Egypt's grounded air force) Gaza is also among the highest-density spots on earth, and over the border there isn't enough real estate or aquifer to support expansionist Israel and overly fertile Palestinians. For the indefinite future we will witness a test of wills, and test of leadership to see who can outmaneuver the other by managing populatino demographics.

nva ,   jerusalem   (05.29.11)
really joe i didn't see anyone calling for destroying and killing in these responses. there were one or two which i thought were inappropriate. You were the one who brought up war. We don't want war, we want peace. This is a tiny land..as a Jewish state. The 1967 borders are totally indefensible, as the people you support are prone to always attack us, STATING their GOAL is to destroy us and drive us out of the middle east, killing as many as possible. I think perhaps you are simply confused. You truly think getting rid of our Israeli card and taking a Hamas card will bring you success and a better life?? shm
36. To Joe #15. Humor Must Be Allowed.
Maansingh ,   The Netherlands   (05.29.11)
Some humor must be allowed. Otherwise, life becomes unbearable in this dark, horrible world. By bringing humor in society one can see things from a different perspective, one can see things in the proper way. BTW Raanan Shaked is right when he says that “Not only don’t we have another state, the existing state it too small for us by two sizes.” I agree.
37. Mhuyyad:
i ,   jerusalem   (05.29.11)
We have no fear of being a pariah nation. That is what is expected of us by our real constitution, the Torah, which states "Behold it is a people that dwells alone" . Boycotts also don't scare us, because money , and talent talks. Saddam Husein for all the bluster, was eating Tenuva ice cream.
38. Did I understand the article properly?

40. Illegal Occupation, Lebensraum and Ethnic Cleansing
Marcus   (05.29.11)
Nice article, it confirms what everyone already knows. The illegal Israeli occupation and settlement enterprise is all about colonialism and ethnic cleansing of the indigenous Palestinians, to make way for the mischlinge from America and Eastern Europe. Only the chosen people could get away wih that abuse of International Law, and only with the US veto.
41. "67 Lines"
Dr Leon ,   Tzfat   (05.29.11)
How many times do you have to be told the were no "67 lines" you BLOCKHEAD! Those were the 1949 armistice lines. Shouldn't you have an education before you get a column!
42. to #40: you deserve a smack in the face
pinchas ,   boston   (05.29.11)
for your disgusting insult, calling Jews who came to Palestine mischling (mongrels), and then blabbing about colonialism, ethnic cleansing and lebensraum. watch out, buster!
43. Bryn's 80%
Sarah ,   Jerusalem Israel   (05.29.11)
80% of "historic Palestine" is Jordan...the remaining 20% was split between Jews and Arabs. The Palestinians now want TWO states--the Jordan they got in 1923, and the one they're agitating for now. Where did you ever get 5.6 million Palestinians? The World Bank (and other international forums) have the Palestinian population at 3.4 million, both WB and Gaza. If you relied on PBS, the joke's on you--no one believes their politically inflated figures.

Prove your accusations stupid-otherwise don't post.
45. What a rediculous comment

To the author: 1. Don't speak for other Israelis dude, speak for yourself! 2. If you know that your point is "retarded", dont make it!
46. what an idiotic article.
eh ,   eh   (05.29.11)
the reason that we don´t want to go back in time, is not because israel is too small. the main reason is that, one can not trust a so called refugees people who mourns over Osama bin laden or has close relations with Syria and Iran. they wouldn´t be satisfied with more land, they want to fulfil they absurd ¨demand of return¨ which means in another words The End of Israel!!!
47. racism
Lofty ,   Jerusalem   (05.29.11)
"filthy people". Really? You should be ashamed of yourself -- leave such thinking to the Nazis.
48. Gaza
lofty ,   Jerusalem   (05.29.11)
If you think it's overcrowded here, try going to Gaza.
49. If this is funny, why aren't I laughing?
Bless Israel ,   USA   (05.29.11)
not funny, not thoughtful and I wonder why he's writing such drivel?
50. #15 count on Iran, Egypt and Turkey?
Anadelfos ,   Athens Greece   (05.29.11)
My peace loving friend ,you cannot be serious if you think Israel ever counted on these countries. Iran was allienated since 1979 with Ayatollahs, Egypt kept a frozen peace while receiving billions of US aid, while Turkey although politicaly allienated maintains commercial trading cooperation with Israel which continues and expands even now. Israel has now the support and understanding of Republic of Cyprus, Greece, Bulgaria, Romania and many others who just started to realise the consequenses and pressure to their societies ,by millions of hostile muslim illegal immigrants. We all want peace ,but not in the expense of our safety and security. So Israel is seen as the first barrier against blind muslim expansionism. If it falls we will be next ,so we have every interest to support it.
51. Your excuse not mine
Ray ,   Israel   (05.29.11)
Ronen Shaked when you talk of your motives, say that's what I think. Don't attribute it to all of us. You don't talk for me.
52. 1967 war was't about getting 1967 borders back! but about
Arab expansionism   (05.30.11)
53. #11 Muayyad, I don't want to throw up
BEN JABO ,   ISRAEL   (05.30.11)
The 1967 lines never worked, even when the were called Rhodes Armistice, Greenline or 1967, which in effect were the same old dish Let's put it this way, you went into a restaurant three times, had the same food, which they kept changing the name of, to make you think it was something new Each time you ate, the result was a severe bellyache, diarrhea and vomiting Would you be foolish enough to go back there eat and get sick again ? Now, you go eat the vegetables, I don’t trust your cooking You never did answer my questions, do you have a problem coming up with some easy answers ? Try the truth, that should be easy
54. 3 years ago Shaked wrote an enthusiastic article for BHO

He must have written it satirically too. http://www.ynetnews.com/articles/0,7340,L-3507732,00.html
55. The Real "Real Reason"
Rube Vogel ,   Jerusalem   (05.30.11)
is of course that Israelis do not trust Palestinians at all to enforce any kind of peace no matter what they give them. And the reason they don't trust the Palestinians is because Israelis have eyes, ears and brains. So if we can just get rid of the Israeli's eyes, ears, and brains, we may finally have a chance for peace.
