1. Mixed-breds are more loyal!
Bonnie ,   Israel   (06.23.11)
SNOBS!
2. No. 1 Bonnie
NYC Girl   (06.23.11)
Since I don't have a dog, I'll have to take your word for it about their loyalty, although I do agree that there's often an element of snob appeal in owning a pedigree dog. However, mixed breed dogs are much less likely to develop certain breed-specific illnesses...hence the term "hybrid vigor." Also, unfortunately, the percentage of female dogs that are sterilized far outweighs the percentage of males even though though the incidence of certain types of hormone-related cancers are drastically reduced in males just as they are in females. And for those macho guys who can't bear the thought of castrating their males dogs, there are testicular implants...assuming your dog really gives a shit if it has balls or not.
3. Like the evil Emperor Nero's heritage was to be a dog's name
Rivkah   (06.23.11)
so the evil Bonnie who stole a girlfriend's husband has that heritage in the No. 3 dog name: Bonnie the dog. Linda Van Asperen was a loyal and faithful and good wife to Walter Thomas Van Asperen for over forty years before he left her to shack up with Bonnie Carlson in Florida. It is curious that a male who was married for over forty years does not care that the mother of his children has no home of her own to live in and has to find homes to housesit. He does not care that he pays her no alimony in her old age and she has no Social Security, yet. How vile is the heart of males who do such things. Bonnie is indeed a good name for a dog, but not a human who heartlessly steals another woman's husband, enticing him to sin and abandon the wife of his youth. There is a special place in hell for such people.
4. Beautiful dog
Ameridane ,   Aarhus, Denmark   (06.23.11)
I have a Labrador/ golden retriever "mut". She is 13 years old and she is the sweetest dog I ever had. No "mischling" policy in our home.
5. :-)
BENJAMIN ,   singapore   (06.23.11)
I have two dogs an a cat, all three play and sleep together. The dogs one is a pedigree the other a mixed bred. The cat a lazy one need sto be pampered more but all three are my children. We humans have a lot to learn from dogs about loyalty and love. My old dog passed away peacefuly and bought the pedigree and adopted the mixed from the drain, it has a short leg. But all make the home wow wow.:-)~ I wonder why some dont love dogs ?
6. Is Lucky and Lady in Englsh
Larry ,   NYC USA   (06.23.11)
Are the names LUCKY and LADY the english translations? Or are the Israelis naming their dogs in English rather than in Hebrew?
7. Tel Aviv

10. Life On The End Of A Leash
ChildrenRbetter ,   china and israel   (06.24.11)
While secular Israelis are raising dogs & spending millions of shekels on them the religious Jews and Arabs are raising large families.Pets are all well enough for the elderly lonely & children with dissabilities but they are no sustitute for a family life. Life on a leash is not the answer.
11. to larry
M ,   ny   (06.24.11)
I am not positive, but I am pretty sure those names are in english, as I was living in tel aviv recently and have several Israeli friends who name their dogs in english. But that's only a few people...
12. Every dog is a top dog!
Devorah   (06.25.11)
Bless them all.
13. Careful of puppy mills.
Ypip ,   Canada   (06.27.11)
Pets are more like love...they find you, there is really no moral justification to be choosy about them; rather than how much the cat or dog needs help from avoiding the blue juice. And don't over-do it. Too many cats and dogs become a health hazard for the animals as well as the community. That's my take on it anyway. Labradors or crosses are known for a very gentle disposition for the most part. That's why they make good guide dogs.
14. Labs are preferred by our War Blind

17. Labs are the most goyish of dogs!
Nick ,   NYC, USA   (06.28.11)
Seriously, they are a favorite dog of WASPs and other blue-blooded goyim. Israelis need a more Jewish breed! (LOL.)
18. Salma, do you have a dog?
Alan ,   Western World   (06.28.11)
Salma, do you have a dog?
19. dogs
deborah ,   Eilat Israel   (06.28.11)
I have 3 mixed breed dogs all had been abandoned before finding me and I have 7 cats, also found as orphans. It is expensive but worth it. I do have grown up kids who also help with the animals. I volunteer in the cat shelter once a week which although heart breaking is rewarding in as much that at least some animals are taken care of. We have had 4 cats murdered during the past week and several has been kidnapped. The police are looking into it. I just hope that the sick human does not progress to killing children as is often the case. Animals do not ask to be bred or dumped, they have no voice, it is our duty to look after G-d's creatures.
20. where is Papillon?
Shan ,   Tel Aviv   (06.29.11)
i don't see Papillon in Tel Aviv, I wanna bring my dog here from New York
21. To: Nick at No. 17
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (06.29.11)
I appreciate the intellect of poodles, but I really don't want one. Seriously, were I to switch breeds from the golden retriever, I'd go with a Cavalier King Charles spaniel. Hard to resist that face. Also, a pretty good apartment dog, and I live in an apartment. Although my fave -- the Newfoundland -- big as they are, are said to be good apartment dogs. They are giant couch potatoes, but keep them away from swimming pools. They WILL get you out of the water, whether you want to go or not. I weigh around 120 lbs., soaking wet, wrapped in chains. I don't see myself saying "No" to a 235 lb. behemoth.
22. To: Deborah at No. 19
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (06.29.11)
It is indeed. I am not a cat person -- although I do admire them -- but I live right across the street from Central Park in New York City, and there are a lot of stray cats that live in the Park (keeps the pigeon population down) and I bring them food every day. So do a lot of people -- the stray cats living in Central Park are among the best-fed in New York City. As nearly as I can tell, they are quite accustomed to people; none are feral or vicious. You can pet them; most of them will let you. In any event, G-d bless you. It is truly our duty to look after G-d's creatures.
23. 22 Sara Wellfed cats don t eat ...
ORA ,   JERUSALEM   (07.01.11)
mice.
24. No. 23 Ora
NYC Girl   (07.02.11)
Actually, whether cats do or don't eat mice or any other prey animal has very little to do with hunger...although, obviously, a very hungry cat will eat a mouse as means to survive. Unfortunately, there are a lot of well-fed house cats that will kill and eat a mouse because of of the prey drive. However, cats aren't born with this drive and have to learn it from the mother. And if she doesn't have a prety drive, neither will her kittens...which is why you see some cats that go nuts at the sight of a bird or a squirrel, and others that couldn't care less if the bird or squirrel got right in its face.
25. 24 NYC Girl ,thanks for the..
Ora ,   JERUSALEM   (07.06.11)
information.I always tought that mice were the natural prey of cats.May because of the Mickey mouse films.
26. spaying and neutering cats
iselin ,   Oslo, Norway   (08.05.11)
We were in Israel for 3 weeks a couple of summers ago. We were saddened by the number of scrawny cats and kittens, many obviously ill, especially in Haifa. We went out every night with food, and before we left, we gave many kilos of dry food to a poor elderly man who went around feeding them and really cared about them. Adopt a stray, but be sure to sterilize/neuter! Kitties are wonderful - I have 6 rescued cats, one of whom is sleeping on my desk as I write this.
