1. What about Turkey's threats and provocations, Mr Ban Ki Moon
rivka ,   los angeles   (05.27.11)
When Turkey, a UN member - has been smuggling weapons for Iran & Syria, to provide Hizbullah and Hamas with qsam rockets, mortars and lethal weapons - which hit a schoolbus and killed a child???? What about Turkey's 26 year blockade against Armenia - who has NEVER been guilty of violence or provocation? What about the ILLEGAL Turkish occupation of CYPRUS, the ethnic cleansing and massacre of the Greek Cypriots, the theft of their properties and land, the desecration of their churches, and the illegal IMPORT of hundreds and thousands of mainland Turks from Anatolia - to deliberately "alter" the Turk population??? Is this the acceptable behavior for a Nato and UN member? TURKEY > GET OUT OF OCCUPIED CYPRUS.
2. Reuters half-lies?
Adam ,   Golan Heights Israel   (05.28.11)
Why are we forced to read this twisted manipulation of the facts by reuters, when there are plenty of good Israeli journalists with integrity (discounting the lefty/haaretz mob, of course).
3. Kurds?
Jamie ,   UK   (05.28.11)
You forgot about the Kurdish population. If you want to use the common 'cliche' to criticize Turkey, you should add 'Kurdish case' as well. After then you can go to your bed and sleep in peace. (Don't forget, keywords are Armenian, Cyprus and Kurdish...)
4. Ban should act responsibly and shut up.
manny ,   Canada   (05.28.11)
The UN is a waste of tax money.
5. Looks like Ban wants to create graceful way out for Turkey.
leo ,   usa   (05.28.11)
Let see if they smart enough to take it.
6. The Real Solution: Go Back Into Gaza and Stay
Noah Lev ,   HollywoodUSA   (05.28.11)
I doubt advocating some punishment or action against Turkey through the UN or anywhere else will win applause and adherents? Turkey, like Iran, get away with most anything deemed illegal (against the UN ex). The nations, both with huge expanding pop. ( 75m) are power houses, Turkey with NATO arms and Iran with its own. Both are not contiguous with Israel, who has 400 nuke warheads as a last resort. To Israel: I would recommend allowing the flotilla to pass. Photo the boats and docks when they unload. Rafah has made it all moot. Dont make 1step fwd, 3 steps backwards. Dont give them an in. The real strategy should be: sending brigades into the Strip..cutting it into pieces..(no settlements) and mining the beaches...that WOULD send the right message. You also have nuke land mines guys.
7. Stephen in New York’s Law:
Stephen in New York   (05.28.11)
Everything that happens is always a surprise, but after the fact proves perfectly predictable.
8. Stinky flotilla
Beary White ,   Norway   (05.28.11)
Why not dump some stinky, smelly shit on the ships and flotilla participants? I would love to know that the norwegian leftist and even member of the norwegian parlament would return as stinky as they should be.!! And, for sure, they will never forget that cruise.:-)
9. The blockade is over.
Chris.B ,   Australia   (05.28.11)
Egypt is opening up the Rafah border so the blockade is over anyway.Let the boat sail into Gaza let the aid reach the Gazan people..Israel can check the ship for weapons.Israel should do it as a good will gesture towards the international community and the people of Gaza.
10. Assad would love Turkey to endorse such a scheme right now.
Ypip ,   Canada   (05.28.11)
11. That's it? ppp! , I'm going to the bar
Ypip ,   Canada   (05.28.11)
12. What about Turkey's blockade of Cyprus?
DavidM ,   USA   (05.28.11)
The secretary general ought to end the illegal Turkish blockade of Cyprus. In 1974 Turkey invaded Cyprus and has occupied Cyprus ever since. Greek Cypriots were expelled from the island. Turkey maintains a strict embargo on Cyprus today. The U.N. should look at that before it tells Israel what to do.
13. Wow
Oren ,   Israel/NJ   (05.28.11)
Im actually surprised though that he even said anything like that... him and his anti israel stance i figured hed support them
14. FLOTILLA IS ANTI-SEMITE SHAM!
LSEDITOR ,   San Diego, CA, USA   (05.28.11)
These professors and artists and lovers of peace would do well to go back to school and study the Holy Land's history. There is no such thing as the "Gaza Strip" or the "West Bank." It was the Land of Israel long before the modern state was proclaimed.
15. Hopefully they listen, but not likely
C McCoy ,   Canada   (05.28.11)
What this whole thing is rapidly becoming is a status symbol for the tedious Left, a must do once to keep up with the Joneses. This gets you far more status points than just making a donation, count on a lot of people wanting to go on it, to further their images.
16. Israel is capable of fouling/disabling the propellers of the
Bunnie Meyer ,   Los Angeles, CA USA   (05.28.11)
ship without sinking it. It can just sit there until towed back to Turkey. No dead bodies and no deliveries.
17. UN
NilsG ,   Helsingborg, Sweden   (05.28.11)
I'm truly sorry - as a Swede, my natu ral inclination would be to root for the UN, considering the support Sweden has given that organisation, people who died in the service of it ... However, in the case of Israel vs The rest of the world, I doubt that the UN, or any other international organisation has any remaining credibility ... neither with Israel, nor with its enemies.
18. If they come,we will send them to hell.
Saed ,   Iranian jew   (05.28.11)
19. "Activists say it is legal to send items by sea to Gaza"
William ,   Israel   (05.28.11)
If it's so legal, why the hell aren't you sending any items? Expired medicine? a few bags of goodies for a 1.5 mm population? A handful of food items which are already plentiful in Gaza? You can't even maintain a lie long anymore.
20. Doesn't the opening of Rafah negate the need...
William ,   Israel   (05.28.11)
for these flotillas and Ban's comment that "the situation in Gaza is unsustainable"? If these nut-jobs continue with the flotilla, under that premise, they will be seen as a military target and not humanitarians as they refuse to use an existing open crossing.
21. TURKISH ISLAMOFASCISTS
American ,   Los Angeles   (05.28.11)
should send flotilla to Syria.Impose sanctions on Turkey killing and improsoning journalists and recognize the Armenian Genocide.
22. #9 Chris B - go TELL those FOOLhardy MARTYR-wannabes
CK Tan ,   Singapore, Singapore   (05.28.11)
Israel has ALWAYS maintain that aid can be sent to Gaza through PROPER land routes AFTER the goods are inspected. But the past flotiila REFUSED. As you POINTED out, Rafah Crossing is/will be OPENED soon and "the blockade is over". Yet, the flotiilla organiser INSISTS on this course of action. For a very SIMPLE reason - PROVOCATION. 2 days ago, the HEAD of the organiser has already DECLARED that they are ready to "SACRIFICE (martyrs) for this cause". (my EMPHASIS) So there are peaceful CHOICES - and the organisers choose VIOLENCE. But then you ONLY see fit to make DEMAND from one side.
23. #22 If the blockade is over who..
Chris.B ,   Australia   (05.28.11)
cares where the aid comes from? We are not talking about Iranian Frigates breaking the illegal blockade. We are talking about the international community who feel the plight of the occupied and oppressed Palestinians and want to help them. The Blockade is broken for good so Israel can track the shipments for weapons and let them go through. Israel has no right to dictate the terms of aid delivery to the Palestinian people. Period.
24. Send UN forces to stop it.
tanya ,   tel aviv israel   (05.28.11)
25. Thanks Ban
Flotilla captain   (05.28.11)
when I decide my sea route, I will take your recommendation into account.
26. We need another coral reef: the flotilla-hulls will do fine!
tom ,   tel aviv   (05.28.11)
27. wrong title
observer ,   Egypt   (05.28.11)
Ban called on all governments concerned to use their influence to discourage such flotilla, which carry the potential to escalate into violent conflict.. Ban specifically calls on Egypt to encourage flotilla people to use the legitimate Rafah crossing. Ban is really encouraging the new Flotilla.
28. free free KURDISTAN
next flotila in ,   turkey   (05.28.11)
29. what about the kurds????

30. Sink them
Alexandre Chinovich   (05.28.11)
Sink all the 10. No, just 9. One ship will carry back the musical instruments.
