1. Seeking to show they're still around
C McCoy ,   Canada   (05.30.11)
Now I admit I don't know which Canadian organizations are on that list, but I would almost guess that the United Church of Canada is in some way contributing to this, however small and symbolic. Over the last few years, they have steadily come out in an anti-Israeli stance, lot of self-righteousness in all that. How I see it, it's necessary to provide some sort of cause, something to wake the members up; their previous hobby horse was the gay and lesbian scene, which is now so old hat and boring you can't get any mileage off that. In short, their membership is down to a quarter of what it was three or four decades ago and it becomes necessary to let the world know they are still alive. I would guess other organizations have somewhat similar motivations. I do not believe any of them have any real interest in aiding Palestinians per se, it is simply a safe cause to hang your hat on.
2. That would be muslum-canadians stiring up trouble, not true
Bunnie Meyer ,   Los Angeles, CA USA   (05.30.11)
Canadians worried about the supposed "paliestinans."
3. Gaza turmoil
Hmm. ,   Chicago   (05.30.11)
Disengagement was a bad idea, wasn't it, judging by the results. Well, there's nothing Israel can do now but tough it out. Hard to see how calm will ever exist in Gaza.
4. Proud of my government!
Eric ,   Toronto   (05.30.11)
The Canadian government is the ONLY government of a major western democracy that openly and fully suports Israel.
5. Can't we switch Hussein for Harper?
David ,   Sweden   (05.30.11)
Please.
6. I do not care about Israel
harry ,   canada   (05.30.11)
I do not care about Israel... I am a white, mid-western, independent Canadian. I have lost all respect for the nation of Israel. You bleed my country, you corrupt my president Stephen Harper . You have nuclear weapons. Please leave my country alone.
7. RE: Harry from "Canada"
Steve-o ,   Toronto, Canada   (05.30.11)
Harry, You are clearly not telling the truth when you say you are a "mid-western, independent Canadian." I am actually from Toronto, Canada, and my ancestors moved up here from the United States in the 1790's. First off, Canada does not have a "president" as you allege. Stephen Harper is actually our Prime Minister. Second off, not a single Canadian from the West (where I lived for years) would ever say "mid-western" - that's a strictly American term. As is "independent" - a term almost never used in Canada. We would say "non-partisan". So please, don't mislead Ynet readers. You don't speak for Canada - it looks like you've never even been here. For the record, Canadians spoke loud in clear this month when they voted to give Stephen Harper a majority government.
8. To #6
Sam ,   Toronto, Canada   (05.30.11)
Nice try pretending to be a Canadian 'Harry'. Anybody who actually lives in Canada would know that we have a Prime Minister.... not a president. Ha. "You corrupt my president Stephen Harper'. haha MY favourite part was how you began saying you are white. Which is most likely the furthest thing from the truth. "You bleed my country"? Point proven.... stop using google translate... I as a REAL Canadian, am extremely proud of the Harper government! Way to take a principled stand!
9. #7 & 8. Thanks for showing us that Harry is a fraud.
Harry Wright ,   UK   (05.30.11)

12. NOT ANOTHER FAKE FLOTILLA
Mark from Georgia ,   USA   (05.30.11)
How desperate are these losers for PR, another phony flotilla. For what purpose? There is no aid crisis in Gaza, just like last time? In fact Egypt just opened the Rafah crossing so now there is even more goods coming into Gaza than before. So Gaza has: 1) The Rafah Crossing open (Egyptian/Gaza), 2) The smuggling tunnels bringing in weapons, 3) Israel delivering Food, Water, Fuel, and Medicine at the Israeli Gaza border. Last time the Press blew the lid off the phony crisis, there was NO fuel shortage, NO food shortage, NO medical shortage, No starvation, No "open air prison", NO "concentration camp" like conditions in Gaza, in was all lies from Pallywood. An abundance of pictures, Video's and reports proved it beyond a shadow of a doubt.. Unless you consider traffic jams signs of a fuel shortage, Food Courts overflowing with wide variety of produce, Amusement Water Parks for the kids, New Olympic size pools, New Malls, New Upscale Restaurants, New Luxury Hotels, now unless they were making these thing with mud and straw, there was NO Cement or building material shortages either. Add to that 3 of the 6 ships carried NO Aid. The 3 ships that did carry Aid MUCH of it was useless or outdated. SO I ASK AGAIN, WHAT IS THE POINT? Pallywood to vilify Israel, AGAIN! How Trite!!! BTW, Kudos to Canada.
13. 6#, Harry , there is no way you are Canadian
Judah ,   Golan Heights,ISRAEL   (05.30.11)
14. THANKS #7 AND 8
ILANAb   (05.30.11)
15. Harry, #6
Edwin ,   Western Canada   (05.30.11)
You are a fraud. We Canadians do not refer to ourselves as "White", or "Black" or any other colour for that matter. Nor do we refer to ourselves as being Mid-Western. We can be Westerners or Easterners or Maritimers, etc, but not Mid-Westerners...Ha! Ha! Further, our country did not bleed! We have done very well, thank you.
16. Re: #6 harry,
ariel rochman ,   toronto   (05.30.11)
In response to Harry's statement, we have a Prime Minister, not a president. If you are truly American, move there, we don't want or need you in Canada.
17. To #4 Good for you!
Jan ,   Brussels, Belgium   (05.30.11)
I wish I could say the same about my own country and government. Sadly they will condemn Israel for any more flotilla casualties and vote for a Pali state next September at the UN.
18. WHAT ABOUT US?
2000 KURDS   (05.30.11)
19. I wish we could say the same of Obama.
Bless Israel ,   USA   (05.30.11)
Obama threw down the gauntlet and then, ran off and made an ass of himself in front of the Queen of England and the world with his storehouse of bad manners. We salute you Canada!!!!
20. I'd pay to see that.
Bless Israel ,   USA   (05.30.11)
a bunch in fact.
21. WE DON'T CARE ABOUT PALS OR PHONY'S LIKE YOU
Bless Israel ,   United States   (05.30.11)
In case you didn't get the message, both CAnada and the US hates the pals. Now, do you get it? As for Canada, they wouldn't allow someone as damned dumb as you into their country. Lying loser.
22. @4,7,8 and all the other Canadians...
Joe ,   St Louis usa   (05.30.11)
Go Canada! Announced its boycott of Durban II even before Israel did, stood up to the G8 on the 67 line issue and a dozen other things. Don't ever think we don't notice and appreciate it. Much love from Ametica and Israel!!!!!
23. Thank you Canadians!
Tahl   (05.30.11)
We'll remember well how you stood by our side during these trying times. May God bless your beautiful land.

28. Thank You Canada
Joe ,   United States   (05.31.11)
I will be visiting canada instead of europe this year just because they support Israel.
29. stop using news service drivel!
tom ,   toronto, canada   (05.31.11)
typical for afp (and the other news services), they have to tack on a little "spin" at the end. the last 2 paragraphs have absolutely NOTHING to do with the actual story about "flotillas" or with the canadian minister of foreign affairs, nor are they background, yet afp seems strangely compelled to conflate these otherwise unrelated things. what's worse is the wording in those paragraphs, which seems to imply that israel "emphatically rejects" peace negotiations with the arab palestinians, which is emphatically untrue, and the implication that stephen harper blocked a g8 resolution in support of peace, which is unfounded conjecture and subjective opinion. perhaps this is afp's way of maintaining their standing as properly "pro-palestinian". afp is adding anti-israeli editorializing, and this is something that israeli media should not be accepting (or paying to reprint)!
