1. Whoever took that photo, will probably get a prize
Wow!   (06.01.11)
2. Hamas understands that now there is no reason to for another
evergreen   (06.01.11)
Gaza flotila. So now Hamas has decided to lie and say the crossing is not exactly open. so now, the turkish flotila will be legitimate again.
3. You want it - you take it
HaifaGuy   (06.01.11)
Egyptians, take Gaza and keep it. Just suck it in. Oh, but wait: you may harm their refugee status... No, no-one is entitled to take their victimhood away from them, it is theirs for eternity. And now, with the second FLOPtilla coming, you wouldnt want to screw it up for the Turks, would you? After all, them Turks have done you, Arabs, so much good through the centuries.
4. hey hamas: NOBODY likes you
mike ,   israel (formerly usa   (06.01.11)
sure, they put up with you and support you because antisemites will do that to anyone who puts their jew-hatred to work. but even your own egyptian brothers (just like israel) clearly don't like the idea of you crossing their border without severe restrictions. but hey, you're terrorists. and you must pay the heavy price for your perverted convictions.
5. And what is our gov't. doing?
Terry, Eilat - Israe ,   Eilat - Israel   (06.01.11)
As far as I'm concerned, screw them both, Egypt & Hamas. Egypt is now 100% responsible for Gaza. But, I read nothing about what actions the Israeli gov't. is taking. And, I think that's because the gov't. is doing nothing. As usual, the Israeli gov't. is as fast as a snail, reacts like a turtle withdrawing it's head into it's shell. Have we sealed the border with Gaza? Have we shut off electricity? Has the Bank of Israel stopped currency transfers? Have we notified Egypt that Gaza is now their headache? What are they waiting for?
6. list of barred persons contains around 5,000 names,
trumpeldor   (06.01.11)
Why is egypt afraid to let them in ???
7. Hey Haifa Guy
Jew ,   Israel   (06.01.11)
Turks are the new Arabs, didn't you know? Turkey, as well as Iran, have put in a lot of work snuggling up to Arab interests to fabricate this new Arab identity for themselves and they don't need any wise cracking whistle blowers to ruin it for them.
8. I told you so:
Alterman ,   Tel Aviv, Israel   (06.01.11)
Trouble and danger ahead. Some militants will challenge the current border arrangement. But Haniyeh knows that what they have gained can be lost. The egyptians will soon learn what they are dealing with - it is not only about a decent measure in order to make life better for ordinary palestinians, it is also about fighting militants.
9. Egyptian Hypocrisy
Abed ,   Nazareth,Israel   (06.01.11)
"...certain Palestinians had been barred from entering Egypt due to "security concerns", implying they are on a terror watch list or have been linked to illegal smuggling tunnels." So it is ok for Gazans to be stopped from entering Egypt if they are on terrorist watch lists but it is not okay for our military to blockade the Gaza Strip to prevent those same people from recieving weapons and materials to harm us? Egypt isn't under daily rocket attack from Hamas, Israel is!
10. Their afraid fort he same reasons Israel was.
Bless Israel ,   United States   (06.01.11)
In a word, Terror. The pals have a reputation that they can't shake. Terror, terror, terror. What a nice way of making everyone hate your guts, even, supposedly, your own 'brothers'.
11. Never satisfied
Susie ,   Scotland   (06.01.11)
Israel please give up trying to have peace with the Hamas/Palestinians. THEY WILL NEVER BE SATISFIED EVER! They get far to much aid and supplies from the outside world and and even when restrictions are lifted they carry on moaning and complaining. Pathetic really pathetic !
12. Very Near Future:
Yakov ,   Tel Aviv   (06.01.11)
Within a few weeks, maybe a month, the Palestinians will make more claims against Egypt, then the violence will start. Egypt will be forced to close the border, again. The Palestinians will lose any credibility they have falsely garnered, and this will serve as an impediment to their claim to statehood. Just give it a few weeks, and as usual, they will be their own worst enemy. We just sit back and allow the Palestinians enough "rope" to hang themselves!
13. Egypt never wanted Gaza
Madeleine ,   Rehovot Israel   (06.01.11)
The biggest mistake Menachem Begin made in 1973 was not insisting that Egypt take Gaza as well as siai. Egypt new exactly what Gaza would have meant. Gazans were far worse under Egyptian rule 1948-67 than they have been under Israeli rule. Now we should stop supplying them with water, electricity, convoys and stop the tax collections on their behalf. Let them negotiate deals with their Eyptian saviuos and let us seal the border with Gaza. Enough already!
14. They let the Genie Out of the Bottle
Mark from Georgia ,   USA   (06.01.11)
Egypt doesn't want the terrorists either, I guess. After all, who do you think planted the bombs in Egypt that killed so many people over the years. I guess Hamas thought Egypt would just forget all that. But now it's Egypt's headache, they can have it. It will be interesting to see how long the crossing stays open and what other restrictions will be imposed.
15. Time for Hamas to send their brothers Qassam messages
PETER SM ,   Austrralia   (06.01.11)
The Egyptians kept the lid on Gaza for decades in the traditional Arab manner..Not a sound came from the UN or hangman Goldstone. Hamas knows better than to try it on.
16. Nonsense
Steve from Raleigh   (06.01.11)
Egypt is shipping rockets into Gaza as quickly as they can. Hamas is whining about the price Egypt is charging them. No more, no less.
17. LOL!
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (06.01.11)
I thought it would take 72 to 96 hours for Egypt to seal the border again. I hate to say "I told you so," but .....
18. Egyptians are afraid of Gaza moving to Rafah.
leo ,   usa   (06.01.11)
19. 2 almost...but i bet..
Oren ,   Israel/NJ   (06.01.11)
that it is all b.s this article...but i doubt its for the flotilla..i bet its to show EU and US that Egypt is not just letting everyone in, to show that they dont need EU monitors at the border crossing...its all probably b.s

You're quite right; excellent point.
21. dirka chick in the burqa pic
lol ,   usa   (06.01.11)
On another note: I wonder if the Egyptians are subjecting the burqa-clad woman in the picture to one of their famous "virginity" tests?
22. In a later development...
Flotilla passenger ,   Turkey   (06.01.11)
Haniyeh demanded that Egypt allow him unfettered access to soccer ball imports, citing that tunnels overly crammed with the balls from his sport-du-jour were creating untold "deprivation" for Gazans and that the "occupation" was causing athletic "genocide"
23. Egypt has opened a big can of worms.....
Malone ,   Hfx   (06.01.11)
....which I am sure they will soon regret. The more you give the pals, the more they want...impossible to please these lunatics. They soooo enjoy being the "victim".
24. #2 Right! Kvetching b/c Rafah took wind out of the sails
Sue ,   Los Angeles   (06.01.11)
of the upcoming flotilla demonstrations. The opening of the Rafah border completely deflates the Marxist/Muslim protesters' argument that they need to "Free Gaza." If they truly wanted to help, they would say "Free Gaza from Hamas" who steals all the money to buy weapons to kill Jews - instead of using it to improve the lives of their own people.
25. to 21
john Darren ,   cairns-Australia   (06.02.11)
