Wondering   (06.01.11)
Just Wondering?
3. Yeah, who cares about the people, its bad for business...
Nick Sporek ,   Jerusalem, Israel   (06.02.11)
right? This guy is a walking negative stereotype. He would avoid disarming Iran's nuclear capabilities to keep the Ofer Bro's happy. You can bet there were no prophets in his family tree. News flash!!! No Israel equals no Ofer Bro's either. Priorities priorities. How was he head of the Mossad? There must be a lot more to his opinion than this story is telling us.
4. saying that Israel should have accepted the "Saudi Plan'' ?
no one innocent   (06.02.11)

5. Dagan wants to be the next chief of ....Kadima ?

7.  Dagan
Jennie ,   Israel/US   (06.02.11)
The very person, who should know best, when to open his mouth and when to shut up and act instead of blaberring, was the Chief of Mosad ?! What he is doing looks exactly like treason and endangerment of Israel's interests..He should remember well, that in all the wars, Israel was always atacked first. Therefore-all the 6 previous wars were defensive...How and if the future battles will play out, is pending totally on the Government of Israel and IDF, who should and will act to the best interest of Israeli people, the Jewish State and its Nation- first and foremost....There is no Law Higher then this...I can't see how this man serves the interests of his country by making yet new consessions to our enemies..
8. The problem is that Iran is not waiting for a pretext
Joe ,   Canada   (06.02.11)
Dagan may well be right in stating that Iran would use the pretext of a premptive attact on its developing nuclear weapons program to make public its intentions which it keeps now proceeding with in secret. So pretext or no pretext, the end result for Iran's target is the same. But for Israel & the rest of the world , a preemptive stike would gain a major respite from a dreadful danger. So, yes, military action as a last resort, but how ,who & when to decide it is unavoidable?
9. I agree with Sara B. Why all exployes and
Ari ,   Romania Israel   (06.02.11)
peeple not in charge give opinion on sensitive matters. To give an opinion on the Saudi plan is to get in politics, besides I think the Saudi plan talks about the wright of Return of the Pals. I am sure wouldn`t it be for that Sharon would have accepted it. It's like when Livni goest out of the country and criticizes the government. The oposition can make it's critics in the Kneset, out of the Country there should be unification. Exemplary behaviour in this case was that of Menahem Beguin and even Nataniahu while in the oposition gentlemen. THat Livni should learn better. She does not know how to loose.
10. Ex Mossad chief
john Darren ,   cairns-Australia   (06.02.11)
He certainly is not telling the full truth of what he knows. That's the given.
11. Something's fishy here. I think Nick #3
Robert Haymond ,   Israel/Canadah   (06.02.11)
got it right. A business deal has no borders nor loyalties other than to economic profit (for the dealers).
12. The post at No. 1 is not mine
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (06.02.11)
I actually know how to spell .... and I know when and where to use apostrophes. Quite? Its? Some sad-assed Arab thinks his English is good enough to emulate mine? Not quiet.
13. At what point?
C McCoy ,   Canada   (06.02.11)
Clearly the so called rest of the developed world is less than interested in really dealing with this, just sort of hope the issue will go away. And it might, should there be an uprising in Iran parallel to what's happening in various Arab states. But then, even that is no guarantee, as the people taking over might be even worse. At some point, Israel will be forced to act unilaterally by the compelling weight of circumstance.
14. Obviously, a strategic thinker he's not.
Raymond in DC ,   Washington, USA   (06.02.11)
No one would dare question his operational skills, his daring, or the work he did rebuilding the Mossad. But as a strategic thinker, well... Anyone who thinks the Friedman/Saudi "peace plan" was worth pursuing is obviously out of his element.
15. Alarmist view
Brod ,   USA   (06.02.11)
So what if Hezbollah and Syria foolishly join the fray. If these Iranian tentacles attack Israel, israel should liberate them for the historic people of Lebanon and Syria who will establish good relations with Israel.
16. What has to be avoided
Stephen in New York   (06.02.11)
is an Iranian first strike.
17. The only thing unthinkable
Stephen in New York   (06.02.11)
is an Iranian first strike.
18. dagan a man with sense
leonidas mujahid ,   uk   (06.02.11)
I hope he becomes the israeli prime minister, guy talks sense and can make peace with the Muslim world,I like him already .
19. 4 Dagan
Paolo S ,   HaHaretz   (06.02.11)
You're out of this deal now, so keep quiet. So far, Israel had to carry out all possible dirty jobs, and just in order to keep a war between its borders as far as possible. Iran is an international challenge, this is to admit. But, please, don't decide by yourself what would be the best choice for Israel...
20. to # sarah
K.O   (06.02.11)
sarah that he is going on? your dreams are broken? 6 months ago you claimed that Natanz was destroyed by stuxnet when the IAEA confirms that the yield increased by 30% lol. two weeks ago you claim that Iran has no nuclear program lol. Iranians are really unbeatable opponents for israel
21. to# 2
K.O   (06.02.11)
to avoid an imminent attack, not to avoid the mere possession of nuclear weapons by Iran. possess weapons and using of arms are two different things
22. to#1
K.O   (06.02.11)
dagan : "Israel did not have the capability to stop Tehran's nuclear ambitions" u have courage mr dagan, for daring to speak the truth in public (even if all the military experts say)
23. Israel must never attack Iran!
Shani ,   UK   (06.02.11)
Iran or Persia, was the centre of Jewish civilization after the fall of Babel to Cyrus The Great. For around 250 years the Persians ruled over 4 corners of the then known world including Israel and did their best for their subjects. Remember Zerubbabel, Daniel, Nehemia, Ezra and Queen Esther! The Persians and the Jews have always been on the same side throughout history, against Assyrians, Babelonians, Greeks, Romans and Arabs to mention a few common historical enemies. It would be wrong to start attacking them now because of a bunch of mullahs, whom the Persian people themselves dislike intensely and would love to overthrow. Because the true Persians are friends of Israel and it is only them who will pay the price for the mullahs wrong-doings.
24. I'm guessing this man knows a thing or two...
Rafi ,   US   (06.02.11)
... better listen up. BTW, almost everything Dagan says contradicts the direction the right-wing-nuts are taking Israel... But of course... what would a man who dedicated his entire life to the security of Israel know?
25. I love this man! I just love him!!!!!!
Talula ,   Israel   (06.02.11)
26. #12: I knew from the very beginning that it was
Israeli 2   (06.02.11)
not your post. I also knew that you would comment sooner or later. The upside to this is that you are so popular, loved and respected by this forum that even immitators of the real Sarah B. get a thank you vote.
27. Confused Masses!
IRAN#1   (06.03.11)
Make a good herd!!!!!!!!!!
28. Israel is a tiny nation and will not tolerate great losses
Avi Silverman ,   Safed Israel   (06.07.11)
Any Naval force that attacks israel will find the bottom of the ocean very quickly. If Iran chooses to attack Israel further they are very aware that they will be destroyed very quickly. Iran would never dare attack Israel nor would anyone else. Israels past victories came at a time when Israels military strength was 5,000 times less that it is now.
