1. Rahm Emanuel = Snake!
David ,   Washington   (06.03.11)
2. President Obama
moshe ,   Tivon, Israel   (06.03.11)
Apparently Pres Obama compares: - the cost of friendship with democratic, Israel to the material intere$t of the USA - OIL, US pre$tige, OIL That Obama has so little regard for Israel is surprising ; what is ASTOUNDING is the childish Obamination that the "Arab Spring" can evolve into a pro-American sentiment : Syria, Lybia, Egypt , in different degrees, will suddenly blossom into fair democracies, and ... AND become pro-American . moshe
3. If it's so safe... why aren't you and your family.........
Real Jew ,   Israel   (06.03.11)
making ALIYAH?
4. Don't count on "land swaps"
Eric ,   Toronto   (06.03.11)
No one hs the right to force those Arabs who are currently Israeli citizens to become citizens of a future Palestinian state against their will. That is not right according to international law and non-democratic. It amazes me that important political figures should consider that viability!
5. There's no such thing as a "MERE STARTING POINT"!
Sandra ,   NYC   (06.03.11)
Israel is being asked to give up all the land before the negotiations start and then try to win some of it back while having nothing at all to trade with the Palestinians for it. This is supposed to happen while the Palestinians still have the "right of return" hanging over Israel's head. Obama didn't change this part of the conflict to a starting point of NO right of return. Obama does NOT support Israel.
6. Waste of Time
Mark ben Josuf ,   USA   (06.03.11)
The idea of negotiations is dead so long as Netanyahu or Obama are in office. The Palestinians trust neither. They trust the US Congress less than Obama since the performance with of Congress. Congress cheered when Netanyahu proposed a non-state resolution of the conflict without sovereignty or independence for the Palestinians. That is why they are pursuing other avenues. Emanuel's article was for US domestic consumption, not as an overture to Israelis.
7. To 3 - Being Mayor
Mark ben Josuf ,   USA   (06.03.11)
Being mayor of a multi-ethnic city of 5 to 7 million has some allure over being a liberal nobody in a country of 7 million whose politics are hostile to him.
8. #3 why should he
Israel Israeli ,   Tel Aviv   (06.03.11)
Rahm Emanuel is an American, why should he move to a foreign country that he hates? The only thing that is reprehensible is that he is using his ethnic background to support his boss. He couldn't care less if we all died, as long as he gets a good job. Then again, he is politician so what do you expect.
9. Obama Committed
norbus ,   jerusalem   (06.03.11)
to Israel's destruction, since he liberated the Ikhwan in Tunisia, and brought then to power, in Egypt, he toppled a conservative regime for the Ihkwan, In Syria, he leaves Assad in place, thus protecting Iran's strategy, instead of realigning syria sunnis with Gulf states. The man is a menace, and the damage he has done is irreparable. He owes no allegance or loyalty to America, or he would not have sat listening to jeremiah wright cursing USA for 20 years
10. #4 If people claim to not want to be Israelis?
Rebecca ,   Modiin   (06.03.11)
Many Arabs claim to not want to live in Israel or be Israelis. If they want to be Palestinians, they must either move to "Palestine" (Jordan) or their home become part of "Palestine" in land swaps. Other countries that have been split have moved people around, and other just throw out people they dont want. There is no International law.
11. Rahm is naive about Obama
Brod ,   USA   (06.03.11)
Rahm does not know what he is talking about. He seems naive about Obama. Action speaks louder than words. Obama's action has consistently been anti-Israel. His apponts AntiSemites like Susan Rice and Samantha Powers in his administration who are anti-Israel, wallowing with the cesspool of Islamist-Jihadists at the UN and at large.
12. BHO committed
moron ,   galut   (06.03.11)
like rahm himself...have i got a bridge to sell you!
13. Yes, Obama is committed to the News Israel!
David ,   Karmiel, Israel   (06.03.11)
The Israel which is free of Jews!
14. Swaps are not part of resolution 242
Ralph levy ,   Usa   (06.03.11)
Land swaps as the sole method of adjusting the 67 borders is against un resolution 242 and was never agreed to by israel. To say swaps are only method to adjust the borders iis a lie. Israel needs much more than what is provided by swaps to adjust her borders, read Eugene rostow on resolution 242
15. 2012 Election and Obama
Steve ,   Silver Spring   (06.03.11)
Dear Rahm-you are absolutely wrong. This president's commitment to israel is very weak. My entire American jewish family is registered as Democrats, and we will be all voting against Obama in 2012. In addition to me in Maryland, that includes others in electorally important states such as Florida and Missouri.
16. Rahmbo
michaelpielet ,   boca raton, Israel   (06.03.11)
Let us be clear, Rahm's first loyalty is to Rahm! When he was in the White House he treated the Prime Minister miserably. The fact that his father was Israeli is totally irrelevant. The fact that he is a Jew makes his anti Israel behavior egregious. The policies of the Obama administration have led to a situation where the arabs refuse to even sit down and negotiate. The good news Rahmbo is Mayor of Chicago where he can do less damage to Israel sitting there rather than sitting in the White House. The same is true for Axelrod.
17. we dont need another joker
zionist forever   (06.03.11)
Israel wanted to buy more Apache helicopters. Obama personally vetoed the sale on the grounds that THEY MIGHT BE A THREAT TO THE PALESTINIANS. Egypt wanted Apaches and fast attack boats and the US sold them with Obama's blessings. Under Bush Israel purchased bunker busters Obama blocked the delivery. Lebanese soldiers fired on Israeli soldiers trimming a tree which was blocking cameras with recently purchased US made rifles. Congress wanted to suspend military aid Lebanon was getting but Obama was against the idea. Politically Abbas has been refusing to even hold negotiations since Obama's first day in office but Obama continued putting all the pressure on Bibi to make concessions whenever Abbas demanded them. If thats a president who steadfast supports Israel then I really hate to see what a president who hates Israel is like.
18. Jewish contributions ...
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (06.03.11)
... to Obama's re-election campaign are down 90% from 2008. That is why Obama asked Rahm Emanuel (whom, I note, abandoned Obama two years ago) to "reassure" us. It won't work. Obama's toast; he cannot win without the Jewish vote, and he lost that a long time ago. I'm sure all the ersatz "Palestinians" in the United States will pick up the slack, though! Heh, heh. Just a little Friday morning humor.
19. To: No. 6
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (06.03.11)
Hey, contemplate the possibility -- actually, the extreme likelihood -- that there is a reason why the overwhelming majority of Americans do not much care for the ersatz "Palestinians" or feel particularly sympathetic to their fraudulent cause. If you're serious in your contemplations, the words "violence" and "terror" should feature large.
20. #11 Obama's Israel policy is based on Rahm's
Sue ,   Los Angeles   (06.03.11)
Rahm hates Netanyahu and as Chief of Staff, incited Obama against Israel. Two years ago (as reported in Ynet), Rahm made clear his hostility towards Bibi and how Obama would have a 2-state solution signed during his 1st term or Israel should not expect any help with the Iranian threat. Rahm said, "there is going to be a permanent status arrangement between Israel and the Palestinians...and it doesn't matter to us at all who is prime minister...Any treatment of the Iranian nuclear problem will be contingent upon...an Israeli withdrawal from West Bank territory." Rahm is the darling of hard left Jewish groups (e.g. Peace Now and Brit Tzedek v'Shalom) since 2003 when as Congressman he co-sponsored a resolution supporting the Geneva Accord, the basis for Obama's Israel policy on land swaps and the division of Jerusalem. It includes giving Palestinians the Temple Mount and placing the UN in charge of all holy sites with the exception of the Western Wall). This is the plan backed by Jimmy Carter and George Soros. In 2003, Rahm also supported $20 million in direct assistance to the Palestinian Authority and in 2005, supported keeping Gaza's Rafah border crossing w/ Egypt open.
21. Chicago Style Politics
Yaakov ,   Jerusalem   (06.04.11)
Rahm Emanuel, Chicago's new mayor, still thinks he is in the White House. American Jews know too well that Obama's anti Israel positions and Middle East politics originated from Emanuel's vision.
22. Rahm, we dont believe you.
Roy ,   Miami   (06.05.11)
You lied to us once before
