The same was the case with respect to Syria -- the Syrians shelled Israel, and Israel responded; that's called fighting a DEFENSIVE war. Lebanon, by the way, did not participate in the 1967 war. Egypt blockaded the Straits of Tiran (Israel's access to the sea) in late May 1967; that was an act of war, but Israel waited until June 5th to retaliate. When Nasser ordered the U.N. peacekeeping troops out of the Sinai, that, too was an act of war and a direct violation of the disengagement agreement which ended the 1956 war. Now you know what is meant by a DEFENSIVE war; it is clear that you did not at least at the time you crafted your post at No. 44. How embarrassing for you!

How can the Obama administration be so naïve in recommending that Turkey host an Israeli-Palestinian peace summit when they know that Turkey would not be a neutral mediator since they favor the Palestinians?
