1. THE GAME REPLAYED
Mark from Georgia ,   USA   (06.04.11)
What did Hamas want, 1000, prisoner's and partridge in a pair tree? Like I've said before it's just a joke, a PR game to vilify Israel. To quote the article: "Izat a-Rishak, a member of Hamas' political bureau in Damascus" "In a statement published on the movement's website, he blamed Israel for the failure to reach an agreement." Like I said many times:It works like this: 1) Bring up Shalit deal for PR and Pallywood. 2) Ask Israel for so much they can't accept a deal. 3) Blame Israel Israel for the failure. BINGO, you've vilified Israel, the Pallywood nonsense replayed over and over again. How many times do we have to see the same game replayed. When we all know Hamas could release Shalit anytime they want. Shalit is just worth to much in PR value, to vilify Israel. Those of you who have read my posts, know I've said this many times. Just like the Pals could have peace anytime they want. It's a PR game, a cynical one at that.
2. proof of life!
josh ,   Chicago, U.S.   (06.04.11)
Israel has yet to receive any video, audio or photo prooving the that Shalit is really alive. In absence of the 'proof of life' we must assume he is dead.
3. evil hamas
barbara   (06.04.11)
playing with shlit family's heart. deplorable!
4. Fast track !
Gabe Yakmore ,   Canada   (06.04.11)
Hamas would come to its senses as soon as Israel would impose the same living conditions to terrorist convicts as Shalit has in Gaza.
5. Has Hamas moved even 1 name from original list?
Eric ,   Tel Aviv & NY   (06.04.11)
Hamas does not know how to negotiate, just how to blackmail - and each press release is nothing more than that. Hamas is willing to keep their murderers in Israeli jails where they get free food, exercise breaks in the sun, prayer sessions, the opportunity to not only see their lawyers, red cross reps, but their families. Hamas keeps Gilad in conditions against the Geneva Convention and blames Israel for their unwillingness to budge at all.
6. "he blamed Israel for the failure to reach an agreement. "
David ,   Hartford USA   (06.04.11)
As if Israel was responsible for the kidnappinig! If there is a 'deal,' it had better be 1 man for 1 man. Maybe it's time for Israel to kidnap Haniyeh and Mashaal and put them in a closet for 5 years. Hamas = scum, PA = scum with a smile.
7. Just more Hamas spin to torture the Shalits!
David ,   Karmiel, Israel   (06.04.11)
But no Amnesty International. No Human Rights Watch. No protest from Spanish Sportsmen, New Zealand sheep farmers, Australian politicians or British Has-been celebs who condemn Israel but keep their mouths shut when barbaric acts, like the murder of the Vogel family, are carried out by Arabs against Jews. After all, Gilad is just a young Jewish guy who was doing his duty by serving in the IDF while so many other Israelis, Ultra-Orthodox, celebs, models, singers and ordinary people find a million reasons not to serve the country that protects them from the worldwide hatred of the Jewish people!
8. FOR THE LIFE OF ME
BEN JABO ,   ISRAEL   (06.04.11)
I can't figure out why the Israeli Government transfers monies of any sort to Fatah, which then winds up in up in Hamas' coffers Cut off the electric and and goods or trafficc of any tpe that goes through Israeli checkpoints until Shalit is freed Since Hamas thrives on torture, let them also undergo a good dose of what they give
9. Does this mean Israel can restart targeted assasinations?
Danny   (06.04.11)
10. The Joke's On Israel, Of Course!!!
Edward ,   Savannah, USA   (06.04.11)
As most of the "Talk Backs" have pointed out, ALL funding to the Palis needed to be cut off since they are now united with Hamas. Israel, especially the Lukid, PAYS for Shalit's captivity and torture while giving perks to all of the Palis murderers in Israeli prisons. I just don't understand WHY the voters in Israel keep electing this type of do nothing governement!!!??? It's pretty simple, No Talks, No Swaps, No Money, No Services, Treat THEIR Prisoners EXACTLY how they treat Galid, and THEN you'll have Shalit back in no time. He should have been the top bargaining chip from the very start!!!
11. #2 Josh
David ,   America   (06.04.11)
I believe your thinking is reversed! Shalit is a son of Israel. He cannot be forgotten or assumed dead. He must be brought home. (but not at any cost) He is a soldier. But in the absence of evidence of his death we must assume he is alive!
12. Close tro the end of the kidnapping
Arnold ,   Canada   (06.04.11)
Last I heard the exchange was going to be 1000 to 1. This will be a defining moment for both sides. A debate needs to take place in Israel in reference to any future kidnappings and what the new stance has to be.
13. News???
kapriza ,   tsafon   (06.04.11)
Ynet, you're pathetic rumor mongers! How many times are you going to print this same rumor, even the exact same text, under a different headline to make people think there's actually something new worth reading?
14. If Israel strikes a deal of 1000 prisoners
Barney ,   USA   (06.04.11)
for Gilad then this sets the price for Israeli life. For every Jew killed in a terror incident there should be retaliation of 1000 deaths from the palis. a deal is a deal.
15. #4
Jrodstein ,   Basalt, Colorado   (06.04.11)
Hamas coming to it's senses is too say the least an oxymoran. They could care less how there terrorist imprisoned are treated. The rest of the world would scream bloody murder if Israel treated the terrorist poorly but they sure don't say much about Gilad.
16. #8, Hamas must be punished
Michael ,   California, USA   (06.04.11)
Hamas is acting like a spoiled brat, an uncivilized devil. This exceeds all the limits. While Gilad's life is at stake, it is clear to me Hamas must be punished for its stubborn and inhumane position. Unfortunately, the omens really are bad and those who think Gilad is dead by now are probably correct. I agree, start by cutting off their supplies from Israel. It is Egypt's responsibility to take care of this part of their country. Build up a border that cannot be penetrated by adding walls, patrol areas, whatever it takes.
17. on #4, yakmore
joel ,   usa   (06.04.11)
if the case of g shalit is abduction/kidnapping, then can be brought before the UN's HRC and let them intervene, if they can, since the PA and Hamas are going to & using the UN(UselessNation) to get favors against Israel?
18. Please ynetnews dont write about Gilad Shalit.
JJ ,   Israel.   (06.04.11)
This is not good for His sake!!!!
19. Shalit who?
(06.04.11)

birdi ,   israel   (06.04.11)
gee thanks for your advice.
21. Shalit quandary
Grant Thomas ,   Brookfield, WI, USA   (06.04.11)
Hundreds are lost in a war and that's the way it is. So, what's the big deal over ONE captive? It's an insult to the many who have died defending Israel to negotiate with killers over just one prisoner.
22. Hamas is declaring that one Jewish life ...
Haim ,   Jerusalem   (06.04.11)
(or admitting) is worth 1,000 Arab (terrorists?) lives! This is very interesting. Perhaps a psychological analytical paper could be written on this. Like Barney suggested for every Jew killed or injured in their attacks then 1,000 Arabs should suffer same fate then maybe soon Hamas and Fatah, they would want to stop the war.
23. #21: Just ONE captive. He is a Jew and we value Jewish life!
David ,   Karmiel, Israel   (06.05.11)
Sure, we cannot release those who have actively killed and planned the killing of Israelis and and others in heinous terror atrocities. One the other had we don't have spare Jews! We lost 6 million of our people in the Holocaust and many more millions in pogroms in Russia and Eastern Europe, France, Spain and the UK. What is sad is that the Allies allowed those who physically killed Jews in the concentration camps by gassing, shoot and torture to escape punishment with the other Nazis who threw babies into the air and caught them with their bayonets! What is sad that Nazis like Werner von Braun became heroes in the US because of their expertise in building rockets for th Nazis with Jewish slave labor! So to allow a Jewish boy, kidnapped from his country while serving his country to become another statistic and a name on the list of the Fallen of the IDF would be like spitting on the graves of those who gave all to build this country. Yes, I would release all the prisoners provided the families of the victims of those in our jails were to agree. There is a price but not at any price!
24. Israel has deemed that 1Jewish life is more
(06.05.11)
The ratio 1:1000 is theirs. So stop quibbling. Hamas should increase their demand proportionately to reflect the dead and maimed Palestinians from Cast Lead.
25. #21 Grant Thomas NO QUANDRY
BEN JABO ,   ISRAEL   (06.05.11)
Let's compromise, if you were to be taken captive, we wouldn''t bother to negotiate to attempt to obtain your release Since Shalit is one of ours, we will do our utmost to free him Surely you know about "Rolling Thunder" where they are still trying to obtain the release or return American troops that were killed or capture in Korea & Vietnam They just had another massive motorcycle ralley in the last wekk
26. False advertising will kill you.
Ypip ,   Canada   (06.05.11)
27. Shalit Release
howzie ,   USA   (06.05.11)
Suicidal principle to release 1,000 terrorists for a single kidnapped person. Never ending cycle. Shows COMPLETE WEAKNESS & means terrorists know in advance that life in prison means a few years AT MOST. Worse yet, means parents of kidnapped only care about their own at future expense of hundreds of others deaths instead (others be damned). Totally immoral albeit understandable stand --- self defeating in big long term picture. Need rethink proceedure & price.
28. Poor Schalot I feel sorry for him RIGHT ???
M.S. ,   mpls america   (06.09.11)
I know Schalot is a brave Israeli soldier willing to die for his own country alas too many are willing to die not enough like me willing to live to do the RIGHT thing if only Hamas would accept a offer but who knows what they want they want all Arabs being held by Israel to be set free released I would not mind that Israel treats them better than their own people might so set them all free alas a shame leaders get all the best the cowards they never do their shame of the fighting they belong to a cowards cult why Ynet refuses to print my messages I do not know this message will probably be denyed by their censors like all my others are recently but any way good luck Schalot RIGHT ??? Thank You... M. S.
