35. What happened to making Assad know he's vulnerable?
shlomo ,   USA   (06.06.11)
In the past the IDF would buzz Assad's palace and if targeted take out his air defenses. Why a response that doesn't deter the Syrian Government?

38. #6 They never report anything positive about Israel
Talula ,   Israel   (06.06.11)
I was watching BBC World last night and they had some demented Arab spewing out crap - they just let him talk and talk and talk - he got all his hate off his chest, then he was gone. The stupid cow interviewing didn't try to argue any case for us. Hateful evil BBC.
39. to #17 not protestors but syrians who broke
ghostq   (06.06.11)
the cease fire and attempt to get inside Israel ilegaly. you arabs got trouble with agreements.
40. was 67 war defensive
observer ,   Egypt   (06.06.11)
Even though there were consensus that the war in 1967 had been a “defensive war” from Israel’s standpoint, UN Charter principles and customary international law prohibit Israel from continuing to hold territory occupied during that war. in a 1986 ICJ case between Nicaragua and the United States, the Court affirmed that.
41. Riiight
LebanonPride ,   Canada   (06.06.11)
Just like how the activist on the Mavi Mara were armed terrorists...
42. To Magdal Shams Druse, beware!
Nora Tel Aviv   (06.06.11)
There is a high rise building fromwhere your youth(Sic) are hurling stones incessantly down to the army . The stones are amassed there by the thousands (See videos) . All your youth they have to do is throw them on the heads of the Israeli soldiers. Who stocked tose stones up there? When? Who was responsible to prevent that stockage and didn`t ? How come that this strategic building was not preventively closed by the police/army? As there will be a next time.....PREVENT.
43. Demonstrators
Haider ,   Gothenburg, Sweden   (06.06.11)
Syria pays demonstrators, probably true. Syria is a dicatorship. But today only Arab and Israeli authories kill demonstrators for throwing stones.
44. #16
John ,   Herzliya, Israel   (06.06.11)
Of course you know. You watch BBC!
45. I doubt it
Yodi   (06.06.11)
If they are paid, they would have fled at the very first death.
46. #41 Provoking Israel for political gain
Cynthia ,   USA   (06.06.11)
Erdogan sent IHH terrorists on the Mavimara to provoke Israel in an effort to advance himself in the Arab world and gain support before the election. Assad sent protesters to advance into Israel to divert attention from his civilian massacres.
47. B-S!
BS   (06.06.11)
That's BS! and can easily be proved, you have no idea what you are talking about! 18 years old soldiers DONT WANT to kill anyone, they are just protecting their lives and their country!
48. # 38 Can't you get FOX News?
Bless Israel ,   United States   (06.06.11)
I stopped watching the BBC some time ago. It's so anti Israel it makes my stomach turn.
49. To 23 - you are pathetic
Yossi   (06.06.11)
1. Those terrorists are not unarmed, they throw stones that almost killed some of our soldiers which are much more tolerant to them than the Syrian government to its own citizens. 2. Don't you have your own issues to occupy your narrow mind? In 50 years you Hippocratic left wing nation is gone and replaced by the emirate of Britistan.
50. @21
Wolfman ,   Uk   (06.06.11)
Those lands, including Sinai was won as a defensive war, which the UN charter says is legal . So Samaria and Judea are legal Jewish lands not only historically but by defending itself against the Arab invasion.
51. #21: Golan was part of Palestne until 1922
Sami ,   New York, USA   (06.06.11)
#21: Golan was part of Palestne until 1922 when Britain gave it to France.
52. Prime Minister and Defense Minister David Ben-Gurion
David Ben-Gurion   (06.06.11)
"We could, militarily ... have occupied all of the western land of Israel. And then what would happen? We would become one state. But that state would want to be democratic, there would be general elections - and we would be in the minority. Thus, when the question arose of the wholeness of the land without a Jewish state, or a Jewish state without the wholeness of the land, we chose a Jewish state without the wholeness of the land
53. To 43 - anyone who passes a border should know he'll be shot
Israeli   (06.06.11)
They are not passing the border by mistake. 8 killed out of 500 trying to pass the border is not violent at all. It is very easy to criticize when you border with Norway and not with violent Muslims. I can grantee that if we had borders with Norway we would not have "kill demonstrators for throwing stones" as you say.
54. to observer Egypt that area is UN soil
ghostq   (06.06.11)
after the cease fire it is no longer Syrian area, as for Carter, he never did anything meaningful cause you broke the the contract he made you sign.
55. 51Palestine was Syrian till 1919 when Turkey gave it Britain
observer ,   Egypt   (06.06.11)
56. #17 - didn't know protesters in Saudi Arabia
William ,   Israel   (06.07.11)
had the goal of destroying the country and setting up another State made up of minorities to subjugate (or kill) the majority. Guess I missed your existential dilemma in CNN.
57. #18 - if so, why did we stop at the Jordan River?
William ,   Israel   (06.07.11)
We were unstoppable in 1967, so if it was a land grab, why not head all the way to Amman, Beirut, Damascus? Hell, we should have taken Mecca, right? It takes an Aussie to figure out our diabolical plans. Darn it. How did he know that Israel paid the Syrians to shell civilians for 4 years and steal Israel's only water supply, so as to set the stage for our planned "land grab". Dem Jooz are sooo devious!
58. #21 - no, it means you can't keep land in OFFENSIVE war
William ,   Israel   (06.07.11)
But according to your logic - wouldn't that negate the Arab claims on West Bank and Gaza because they were taken through the use of "threat and use of force"? The ethnic cleansing of resident Jews also doesn't help your case. So, 1967 "borders" are by no means a started point for any negotiation per your cited "law".
59. #32 - payment to shahids nothing new
William ,   Israel   (06.07.11)
Saddam paid you morons. Iran funnels money to shahid families in Gaza. Arafat bribed all of you. You're just useful lemmings for someone else's agenda, and for a few $$$, you willingly oblige.
60. #37 - you fought an illegal genocidal war
William ,   Israel   (06.07.11)
and you lost. Your best bet is to stop being such genocidal ego-maniacs and coexist. Since you can't, our border will stand - and grow if your crap continues.
