1. Syria In Far Worse Danger Than Ever
EZAL ,   USA   (06.07.11)
What a purile rant from a very small writer: "occupied" Golan? Uh, that would be "annexed" for you Syrians: and you'll NEVER get it back. Second, you send 600,000 people to our border regardless of them being armed and they'll be mowed Down like ducks with no apologies: that would be called an INVASION, so suck it up. Guess that's one way to get rid of more of your people! And here Syria lies amidst nothing short of a civil war, shooting their mouths off about invading Israel: as if they're in a position for such a mission!? How about a few thousand well placed MISSLES on all of your military bases to give you repressed people the edge they need to throw off the Assad dictatorship? It can be arranged: send your lambs to the slaughter as you barbarians love to do and Damascus might be a new Tel Aviv...only without the ocean view. Chai Yisrael! It's time for the Jews to FIGHT BACK ON ALL FRONTS!!!!
2. Assad will end up like Mussolini.
Terry ,   Eilat - Israel   (06.07.11)
Hanging from a lamp pole. The mob isn't coming to our border - they're going to come for Assad & his cronies. The Assad regime can sling all the BS they want, it all rings hollow, the words of a failing regime in melt-down. Can you imagine what this is doing to the crappy Syrian economy? They were a basket-case before the riots, now they are in free-fall. The rich Syrians will send their money over-seas, this has already happened in Tunisia & Egypt. The politically well-connected will sell everything not nailed down to over-seas markets, including food. Others will hoard essentials as their currency becomes worthless paper. At best, Assad might end up as the war-lord of Damascus as he loses control over various parts of the country.
3. This is not an Arab Spring
Marcel ,   Florida   (06.07.11)
The media have been feeding us the lie about an Arab spring when it is a burning Arab stew pot. The one thing that has fed the flames of this boiling cauldron is the weakness of Israel's appeasement and it's desire to surrender land for Jihad. Going along with the phony U.S.Road Map peace scam has been Israel's undoing. Israel can blame herself as much as Assad for what is coming.
4. Marcel the Tinker Bell
Damon mccann ,   thib. USA   (06.07.11)
Hello fool from Florida, Zionism is over, find a place for settlers in New York in brookln witht the radical chicken twirlers.
5. Isn't That Considered An Invasion?
emanon ,   USA   (06.07.11)
Hmm . . . Mass invasions are usually carried out by military troops . . . military troops in civilian clothes . . . Isn't that classified as "spy" by Geneva Convention and aren't spies exempt from Geneva Convention principles? Even if we go with not calling them spies, under the Geneva Convention, and common sense, countries are allowed to defend themselves against invasion.
6. Syria needs more excuses to kill their population
Eric ,   Tel Aviv & NY   (06.07.11)
Syria sends (pays) people to try to storm the Israeli border and 14 die. Syria army shoots the mourners of those who went to storm the Israeli border and kill at least 28. Some how this did not distract the world from the hundreds killed in Northern Syria that the Syrian Army killed nor the 28 police who were killed when the "mob" revolted back against them. So apparently the Syrian warning should be more to the Palestinians that the Syrians are using and have been abusing for 63 years as well as killing now.
7. how ?
ryddi   (06.07.11)
to move 10,000 needs logistics, shelter, food, water, toilets - or their women relieve themsels in full view? propper reception from israeli side is asured.
8. Nevertheless, the Syria's regime is the next domino to fall.
Salma ,   Palestine   (06.07.11)
The Syrian, Palestinian and Arab youth already knows how to read the Arab Media : )
9. Syria
Rubin ,   USA   (06.07.11)
Here"s a suggestion for Israel: Lay back and do nothing about the NAKBA , KAABA, FASHLA, NAKSA, HARIA or ZIFTA. Just call on to Assad and he will be very happy to slaughter his own people and everybody will DIE happily ever after.
10. I see an opportunity for Israel in all of this mayhem.
leo ,   usa   (06.07.11)
If played smartly, aikido-style, Israel may become ever stronger and dare I say ... bigger.
11. War rethorics
YaĆ«lle Schlichting ,   Raubling, Germany   (06.07.11)
Actually, we never know what these mad guys (assad, nasrallah, ahmadinejad......) are planning until they unveil their plans but this reads like blatant threat of war. +++ I believe, the IDF knows quite good what to do and at what stage of escalation what action is to be taken. The problem is the political complexity of the current situation in the middle east. +++ I believe the Israeli government must try to warn it's neighbors like Syria via the UN that it would not accept the violation of its borders and it's neighbors must leave the borders untouched. This is a formal act, but it must be taken because it would raise greater understanding in other countries, that there is an issue which once more is triggered by a neighboring country and not by Israel.
12. Damon mccann the American occupation setter is moving back?
Brian Cohen ,   Judean Peoples Front   (06.07.11)
So, Damon mccann, you mean that you're finally admitting that you're an illegal occupation settler and you're moving back to Britain where you came from? Good. That's a great example for you to set. How much compensation are you going to pay the native Americans whose land you stole and are illegaly squatting on now? How about the compensation for the genocides you, Damon mccann, and your fellow Americans committed? And why would the Zionists go to NY when Jews come from Israel in the first place?
13. tishreen should expect ...a change of regime
Trumpeldor   (06.07.11)
An it will be long overdue. Good riddance .
14. razor wire & mines are the solution
zionist forever   (06.07.11)
A first line of defense from those protestors should be razor wire. Put up enough of the stuff and its usually enough to stop individuals getting through. If thats not enough then we annex a small plot of land on the Syrian side of the fence and lay a minefield which is guaranteed to stop anybody. We should also look into purchasing some non lethal riot control weapons. The US makes something thats mounted on a truck and it emits microwaves and it makes the people feel like they are burning although it does no physical damage to the body. Something like that would be very effective so we should look into purchasing things like that for border protection.
15. #11
Jim ,   USA   (06.07.11)
The UN chose sides a long time ago.. Israel should do what they need to do and ask for forgiveness later....
16. settlers in New York and Brooklyn
Habib Seliman ,   New York, USA   (06.07.11)
Damon McCann but my family has been living in Syria for hundreds of years until we were forced to flee with the vast majority of Syrian Jews. Bis'Allah for Zionism!
17. in your dreams
noa ,   israel   (06.07.11)
18. A super idea. Thank you Germany!
Peacelover   (06.07.11)
19. #11. Yaelle
Tim ,   Brighton   (06.07.11)
Quite so Deliberate cynical Assad ratcheting of tension on the border to try to deflect attention from the uprising Yet another sign of his inadequate fumbling political acumen. Hes making mistakes dealing with the Syrian people, dealing with Israel, dealing with Iran, dealing with the rest of the world. What a pathetic sad little man who is losing it I agree a formal statement to the UN that Israel has every right to stop with force any breach of its borders with Syria should be made in no uncertain terms and that it is Syria that must take the responsibility for any inevitable fatalities at its borders
20. Preview?
Mark ,   New York   (06.07.11)
More like failure.
21. Tokyo Rose is alive and well I see...
mb   (06.07.11)
...and working as a Syrian columnist. Boy, I can't wait for the next exciting dispatch as the Syrian leaders claim victory from their bunker.
22. Syrian bloodlust insures Golan will remain Israeli for good
Dr. L. Brnd ,   San Diego, USA   (06.07.11)
With Syria's wild butchery of its own citizens in the international community spotlight, nobody anywhere is going to be pressuring and proposing to Israel that the Golan be returned to the unreliable and homicidal Assad regime. And all of the "peace process" advocates, like the Clintons - running their mouths about Assad being "a reformer" only a few weeks ago, have been totally and permanently discredited - their judgement shown to be no damn good and their motives suspect. Ditto Israeli Syria "experts" advocates like Alon Liel - discredited for good. Nobody expects Israel to consider a land-for-peace" deal with a blood maniac like Assad, and Syria will remain unstable for decades now, even if he is ousted. BOTTOM LINE: Syria can forget about the Golan, their not getting it back. Not ever. The Galillee valleys will never again be threatened by Syrian artillery on the Heights, and Israelis controlling them is the only way to insure this - the world's limp-wristed impotence in the face of Syria's genocidal butchery proves this beyond any doubt.
23. Israel will do whatever it needs to do to protect it's
Bunnie Meyer ,   Los Angeles, CA USA   (06.07.11)
borders and if attackers die, then they die and there is no need to apologize to anyone, they made their choice to attack.
24. WHERE'S THE SYRIAN ARMY?
Bless israel. ,   United States   (06.07.11)
You know, the ones who began and lost the Golan due to stupidity and terrible warriors? Seems they'd rather throw their people to the dogs of war while they hide in Damascus. Typical Syrian 'warriors', send the unarmed troops of ignorant poverty stricken farmers to die for you, while you murder your own protesters at will.
25. Will Syria lose another 40,000 Syrians
Bless israel. ,   United States   (06.07.11)
due to the same style of massacre his own father committed against his own people? The butchers of Damascus.
26. 1000's of Israelis Should Storm Border
Andrew ,   Miami,FL   (06.07.11)
cross it - settle what is now "Syria" - later could be named "New Hertzlya" - dont think this doesnt work both ways
27. Irans satellite is just spinning out of control
Chris Rettenmoser ,   Bayerisch Gmain Germ   (06.07.11)
and the worn-out dirty old tricks will not save the butcher of Damascus from being butchered himself...!
28. 11
zionist forever   (06.07.11)
The UN wouldn't do anything to stop Assad because he wants these border incursions to take place to try and get Syrians looking to take their anger out on the old enemy rather than Assad. As far as he is concerned the more dead the better because you can make political capital out of people killed by the evil IDF. If the worst comes to the worst and Assad believes killing the protestors won't work anymore and his days are numbered he may like to start a small war with Israel. He doesn't care if his entire army is smashed because he isn't interested in casualties. All he hopes is when the war is over the people will be in no mood for getting into a fight with him and if he plays it right he might come out of it a hero. Considering the Syrian military is also very much reserve based alot of these protestors in the streets now trying to topple him would be in the front lines getting shot at so they won't be making anymore trouble for him. I imagine that in normal times Israel probably does have the UN send the likes of Syria and Lebanon unofficial messages not to make trouble but this time it won't work because Assad is fighting for his survival.
29. And it it went the other way?
Steve ,   USA   (06.07.11)
Wonder how many Israelis would be slaughtered by the Syrians if Israeli protesters crossed (or tried to cross) into Syria. Would the UN condemn Syria for using 'excessive force'? Or would Israel be condemned. We all know the answer to that one!
30. Notwithstanding the obvious...
Gideon Reader ,   USA   (06.07.11)
..problems and internal strife taking place within Syria; and the deaths, injuries and destruction, it seems that the overiding question that has seeped into every seam of Syrian society, is Bashar Assad's performance on the golf links. As with the U.S.President, Wherever he goes, the normally reticient Syrians, like their counterparts in the USA, have a fascination with their leaders golf game. Syrians continually are heard inquiring "What Assad Putts?" A really strange world.
