NYC Girl   (06.11.11)
As somebody who has ridden on subways and commuter trains from the time I was a teen-ager, nothing would please me more than having cars designated only for women, so I think that Mexico is doing a service to its female citizens. However, while I have no problem with segregated cars to protect women from perverts and molesters, I think it's time the haredim stopped trying to cram their primitive religious beliefs down the throats of an overwhelmingly secular country. The ultra-Orthodox already have a history of overreaching whenever you give in on any of their demands. Consider the fact that El Al now no longer flies on the Sabbath, even though they did for many years and it was profitable for them to do so. In fact, most of the Haredim wouldn't fly on El Al and instead used Tower Air, which is no longer in business, and that's unfortunate because it actually benefited both groups, secular and religious, because it meant the Haredim could fly on an airline that catered to their religious requirements, and the rest of us could fly on El Al where nobody was praying in the aisles and where you weren't spending hours on a plane that felt as if they had launched Boro Park.
32. beyond Judaism
Jewish Whale ,   Haifa, Israel   (06.11.11)
The extreme views of Haredim have transcended Judaism to form their own religion. I call on proper well informed Rabbis to condemn this nonsense. The Torah says nothing about segregating public rail or buses, if one is so weak as to sexually fantasize over every woman in his place, then that is his problem. Tzniut exists for that purpose- enough is enough.
33. segregated trains
Rahel   (06.11.11)
there are segregated trains or cars in several countries- so women can safe from perverts and molesters- nurse their children- is this what this about? So women are safe from perverted men who can't keep their dicks in their pants? A man should be able to look at a woman without getting the hots- what is WRONG here? Instead of demanding segregated trains, these men should get off the trains and walk off their energy- what is next segregated planes- how about a separate country for the men? Wait, there is one already: Iran.
34. Needs of the Haredi sector.
clk ,   USA   (06.11.11)
To me this is about lower income Haredim getting to work and then back home. Seculars want Haredim to work more, at least they keep saying they do. Beyond that, public services should, in my opinion, be somewhat sensitive to diverse groups unique needs. Haredim will live their lives with their rules, now it is about whether seculars will allow many more of them to find various ways to attempt to stay true and still be able to be a contributing vibrant part of the larger Israeli society. That's what I think anyway. I also find the historical persecution of Jews painful, and would prefer to find ways to minimize it in the future, especially in contemporary Israel. In a way is this not one of the various primary justifications for Israel. Also, to tolerate does not in anyway indicate approval, more often it would imply the contrary, understanding this is important. While I too have red lines, this is not one of them.

Lets have a Haredi segregated train that goes straight past the welfare office to the Army induction center.
36. Light rail Segragation

I think israel is differant than a New York subway. Secondly none claim that it is assur to sit next to women. All they want is to be more comfortable.
37. LOL # 35 JB Spot on !
Haim ,   Tel aviv   (06.12.11)
Although maybe the train could continue on to Tehran ?
38. dk , 34 . It's NO need
Charles ,   Petach Tikva   (06.12.11)
You have to know that we , the seculars , have given already very much to those people . You can have public transportation every day ? we NOT . You don't have to go to a religious institution when you are born , get married or die . We HAVE to go to the Rabbanut . Those are only two examples of what we have given them . And what did we receive ? NOTHING . Enough is enough .

Kosher hug,and stop complaining.
40. 39 , complaining with REASON
Charles ,   Petach Tikva   (06.12.11)

41. #1 Michael: Hear, Hear!
David ,   Karmiel, Israel   (06.12.11)
The country is fast becoming a Theocracy and the Prime Minister is far too busy kowtowing to the Ultra-Orthodox and not doing what is best for the country! He didn't have time to visit the families of the Carmel Fire but he could go to Zefat to revel in Ultra-Orthodox Judaism! We criticize the regime in Tehran but certain sectors of Jerusalem, Bnei Brak, Haifa and other towns, like Karmiel, are becoming "Haredified" and the rights of the secular community are being wiped aside in favor of religious coercion!
42. 40 I made a big big mistake!

Women have to be protected from molesters, and society protected from haredi zealots, families have a right to trawell together without the supervision of haredi commissars.
45. Ora , to refresh your failing memory
Charles ,   Petach Tikva   (06.12.11)
i told it already , they mostly volunteer in the hope to be rewarded in the Olam habah [ That's also one of the tales they , and you , believe in ]
46. 42 , believers are a big mistake
Charles ,   Petach Tikva   (06.12.11)
Thank's for giving me this opportunity to say some "nice" words to you .
47. 46 Charles
ORA ,   JERUSALEM   (06.12.11)
It seems to me that you have a good heart, and if some of your friends need you,you are there for him, without counting. BUT,to be kind,or at least to say a kind word, seems for you,an unsurmontable effort.
48. 46 Let us agree to disagree nicely.
ORA ,   JERUSALEM   (06.12.11)
Good night Charles.
49. Ora , i love discussing with you
Charles ,   Petach Tikva   (06.13.11)
but i would like sometimes also to have some explanations . What was your "big mistake" [ your # 42 ] ? No need for a "unsurmontable effort" to say [ TRUE ] nice words . I said it already more than once , you have a BIG heart , full of love for everyone . You don't need to be told : ve'ahavta et re'echa kamocha , you do it because it's your way . But , dear Ora , you're not very realistic , you're dreaming that everyone is nice and fine [ tout le monde il est beau et gentil ] , it's NOT so . Not everyone is a "ORA" .
50. 49 Charles ,
ORA ,   JERUSALEM   (06.13.11)
I was tremendously happy reading your kind words. Many thanks. I think you are a marvelous unique guy,Charles.
51. 49 Segregation is interpretated ...
ORA ,   JERUSALEM   (06.13.11)
differently by the Secular[more physical]than the Haredi[ more spiritual] society. Charles, the hearty hug i sent you,was a very pure thought, and was misinterpreted While you live in an absolutely physical world,my world is both, physical and spiritual. From there the misunderstanding.
52. 49 Charles
ORA ,   JERUSALEM   (06.13.11)
Each human being has good sides, inside him.It needs to be valued to come out.
53. Ora , i understood the meaning of your hug
Charles ,   Petach Tikva   (06.13.11)

57. Ora , a 21th century pizza "fantastic food" ?
Charles ,   Petach Tikva   (06.14.11)
if you like them , order one . Nothing for me . Years ago , in Amsterdam , i wanted to eat one . So i entered a pizzeria , and ordered one . As i was sitting near the pizza baker , i heard the waitress order my pizza .....in Hebrew . So i asked them in Hebrew : an Israeli pizzeria here ? The pizzabaker made me a fantastic one . Favoritism !
58. 57 Charles,have you heard of ..
ORA ,   JERUSALEM   (06.14.11)
