61. Pres. Obama is right!
Gunnar ,   Gothenburg, Sweden   (06.11.11)
A withdrawal to the 1967 borders, give or take, would not threaten Israel. However, it might jeopardize Netanyahu´s political future. But frankly, that´s a price worth paying!
62. "Obama's vision" - but THAT is the problem!!
Harry Wright ,   UK   (06.11.11)
Obama has yet to present a good "vision". Every vision so far have been disasters including his "vision" for the ME. It seems that his vision + mission is to destroy the US from the inside and he is doing a good job of it. Isn't that the grand plan of the Muslim Brotherhood and expansionist Islam? The US congress and senate have to thwart this man.
63. The only thing missing from that front picture is
Harry Wright ,   UK   (06.11.11)
the Saudi King.
64. I second that ChristianPalestinian
Nour ,   One-State   (06.11.11)
If they (Zionists) are unhappy in this region of Arabs, they should pack up and go back to Europe / America.
65. #56, #57 and #58
Jorge   (06.11.11)
It looks like you need to go back to Saudi Arabia, Jordan and Iraq There is not such thing so-called "palestine" How is the weatherin hong kong.? It is far from Saudi Arabia right?
66. @18. The biggest lie...
Joe ,   St Louis USA   (06.11.11)
...is that the "world" is against us. Words like "diplomatically isolated." Sometimes even some Jews and Israelis believe it, it is such seductive propaganda. But not the world, or even the US is against us. Israel has astounding, overwhelming support, diplomatic relations and friendships. As for bds, you might eliminate a few books in scotland or some tomatoes but Israel will still make a living off computers, cellphones, instant messaging, VOIP, google, intel, motorola, Microsoft, cancer medication, MS medication, diabetes medication, almost every generic drug sold anywhere, MRI machines, and just about everything else that keeps you out of the stone age. You're welcome.
67. Something is fishy with Steven Simon
BENJABO ,   ISRAEL   (06.11.11)
Google him, see who and what he is, as I did It's very interesting that Obama has appointed him to this post, his views are very slanted, in favor of Palestine We now have two Arabists desperately wanting to foist off the '67 lines on Israel
68. Israel should demand negotiating Peace on 631 AD borders
Marco ,   Spain   (06.11.11)
This is the year psychopath pedophile died and Arabs, against his wishes, spread out of Mecca and invaded, conquered and illegally settled half the known world at that time, and ethically cleansed 99% of natives.
69. LEBANONPRIDE ???
patrick a.hammel ,   zermat,switzerland   (06.11.11)
what are you so proud about? that you had to run for your life away from lebanon because of the civil war with more than 150,000 people butchered .It's only a matter of time before Canadians get sick of you people and send you back to Lebanon where you can get back to beiing proud as much as you want....
70. Netanyahu's Ace card in the pack
G. Fränkl   (06.11.11)
BB has the perfect way to respond by turning Obama's words against him, namely: since Obmaa talked about the "Israel as a Jewish state" formulation, BB and gov't MUST demand that right from the very start the PA as a negotiating partner acquiesce to this language word by word, letter by letter. Let's see what they will answer. OK, startnego, but NOT unil the point that they themselves admit to this formulation of Israel. Obama cannot complain, since these were his exact words. The Palestinians will never agree to this, so Case Closed! See ya at the worthless and useless UN!
71. He will not let up until he is PUT DOWN,
Chris Rettenmoser ,   Bayerisch Gmain Germ   (06.11.11)
just like Osama...
72. ... all illustrating the bankruptcy of the right-wing...
Rafi ,   US   (06.11.11)
... any deal that Israel would have obtained with the Palestinians in the 1990's, INCLUDING OSLO, was on terms far more advantageous to Israel than anything being proposed today - and which Israel will now be forced into. Thanks Bibi, Yesha and the rest of you narrow-minded right-wing boneheads. When will you admit that you've driven the country up a dead-end road?
73. christianpalestinian @ 56-58, you are funny fella.
leo ,   usa   (06.11.11)
So, Jews have to go back to Ur, but you somehow can stay. So, Arabs had occupied Judea and Israel and suddenly Jews are occupiers. So, Israel make offer after offer for Peace, Arabs reject it every time and yet Jews have to make another peace offer still? My friend, you better get a grip on reality.
74. to #72 No rafik, it is you leftists and
jason white ,   afula, israel   (06.11.11)
supporters of terrorism that put us in this spot. You,peres and the rest of the oslo death accords gang. Over 1,700 dead Jews, tens of thousands wounded and armed terrorists on our borders. It is you leftists that want us to shrink down to indefensible borders and give away our holy land to terrorist thieves. You sit there in the states and tell us what to do. You and that jihadist anti Semite, anti Zionist and anti U.S. one man jihad army in the Oval Office. Oh yes, vote fr him again and help destroy both Israel and the U.S. You gutless leftist dhimimi!
75. @72 and who rejected the Oslo deal?
Joe ,   St Louis USA   (06.11.11)
Hint: not Israel.
76. No Israeli retreat. No Two State Final Solution. Period.
Chaim ,   Israel   (06.11.11)
Obama doesn't get it, even though the U.S. Congress overwhelmingly does. Obama's vision is in the garbage bin. It's evil. It's despicable. Israel has no fear of Obama or the P.A. and it's fictional statehood bid. Time to repeat Bibi's "NO" louder and stronger. No Israeli retreat. No Two State Final Solution. Period.
77. Say NO
Harold ,   USA   (06.11.11)
The word NO always said and uttered by Netanyahu is deeply dangerous for Israel and encourages the majority of the UN members to recognize a Palestinian State in September. I advise Netanyahy to come down of his horse and negatiate without conditions.
78. Gunnar @ 61, looks like you are worried about Obama's
leo ,   usa   (06.11.11)
political future. Do not worry. Obamas and Nataniyahus come and go, Israel stays always. "Political future" my foot. Are you really that thick?
79. to #56-58 How many xtians were forced
jason white ,   afula, israel   (06.11.11)
out of muslim countries or killed? If you are really a pali xtian, then your forefathers were Jewish. You also going to move to Ur? Also we have quite a few xtians that serve in the I.D.F. and Israeli police. We will not leave the region, but if our backs are to the wall we can make our neighbors turn into radioactive ashes.
80. Obama is a one-term President and this is how
Robert J. Zweig ,   Florida   (06.11.11)
we should deal with him. He has failed in both domestic and international affairs and it is doubtful he deserves a second term.
81. @55 peace and security
Joe ,   St Louis usa   (06.11.11)
Israel has peace with Egypt. Would you like to live in Israel right now without a secure border between Israel and Egypt? Think about it. In the middle east peace does not exist without secure borders. This ain't Canada. The idea that Israel doesn't have peace with the US is absurd and inaccurate. Disagreements are a part of peaceful relationships: in governments, families and friendships too. Btw: all US foreign aid to all countries combined comes to a total of UNDER 1% of the federal budget and most of it is spent by law on American technology made in American factories by American workers. So reducing our (very small) foreign aid budget=killing American jobs.
82. Yes Morag
Gregg ,   Haifa, IL   (06.11.11)
I'd rather be a Jew among Arabs than a Jew among other Jews, especially Israelis ! Israel's pure air !!! And you call me barbie doll??!!
83. #61 - '67 borders would not threaten Israel?
michael redbour ,   arad israel   (06.11.11)
You have no idea what you're talking about so it would have been better not to post. How are the '67 lines defensible? They were in '67 but not now. A simple example. Aircraft landing and taking off at Ben Gurion airport would be sitting ducks for anyone wishing to shoot them down with shoulder missiles. Israel was only 9 miles wide at its narrowest point before the '67 war. How long would it take enemies to travel 9 miles today?
84. What is the matter??
Gerald ,   Uppsala, sweden   (06.11.11)
What's the matter with israel? Is it an independent nation, foght for and preserved by the blood of countless jews, or is it a tool in bin obamas re-election campaign? It's said you can take the jew out of the ghetto, but you can't take the ghetto out of the jew. Bibi - prove them wrong. Just say NO. Israel will not retreat, surrender or capitulate before the terrorist hordes. Arch-terrorist arafat (may he rot in the bowels of hell) declared a state 1988, if the so-called moderate terrorist Abbas wants to go ahead in september Israel should : 1. Incorporate all jewish population centers in judea and samaria into Israel, 2. Annex the Jordan valley and Golan 3. Cut off all power, water and flow of goods provided by Israel to the pals, 4. Make clear that if one rocket or grenade is launched at Israel from "palestine" the IDF will destroy its political and military leadership. 5. Complete the security barrier in J&S as well the north, Am Yisrael Chai
85. Sound advice from an older wiser man
Gideon Reader ,   USA   (06.11.11)
Son, Stupid is no way to go through life. Life is sometimes hard. It's a lot harder when you are dumb as a box of rocks. You appear to be located in a really favorable position to get some decent take away; so why don't you choose something from what's available on the menu of the best cookery you can find, sip some tea and think of how well Christians have fared under the control and tender mercies of the Muslim population in the area controled by Hamas or the PA. Declining Christian populations have been fleeing from PLO / PA /HAMAS predation, abuse and hyper oppressive control for years. They now make up the lowest portion of the PA / HAMAS demographic ever. Then think of the track record of the self styled "Palestinians" and Arab states that had decided to pick an existential war with Israel, a few times and what those hostile assaulters walked away with. I'll tell you what. A national bloody nose that shamed and embarrassed them before the entire world and lost territories, and some sad assed days to "celebrate" and feel pissed off about. I refer to your Nabka and Naksa days rememberance days. Something pretty pathetic about celebrating getting your ass kicked in record time, over and over again. So Son, you see; facts are really pretty stubborn things. You can paint them like an ill cleaned Port-a-Potty, but it still remains an outhouse; and facts and history do not change. Don't plan to strongly on having either a national massacer or another Exodus in the near or far future. I would forsee a further decline and improvishment of soul, spirit and personna for the "other team" first. mayb e even one that has a feint green glow.
86. #72 Rafi - PROVE it !
CK Tan ,   Singapore, Singapore   (06.11.11)
You IMPLY that the palis have ALWAYS abide by the T&C of the Oslo Accords while Israel did NOT. So PROVE it - show ALL the evidences that the palis FULFILL each and EVERY item that they AGREE to. Otherwise, you are MERELY a left-wing PARROT taking BLIND pot shots at the right-wing.
87. Obama & his brother Muslims Always TryTo STEAL the Holy Land
Linda Rivera ,   New York, USA   (06.11.11)
See Ynet's front page. It shows a photo of Obama praying to Allah. Obama's vision is the Muslim conquest of ALL Israel. Britain illegally gave 80% of Jewish Palestine to Islam. The new country became Jordan. Israel is illegally left with only 20% of her land. Israel haters want half of that.. With only 10% left, Israel would be completely INDEFENSIBLE, easily conquered by the barbarians. The goal of every Jew-hater on the planet. Not one inch of Jewish Holy Land to cruel enemies bent on Jewish genocide!
88. @83. Well said, but...
Joe ,   St Louis USA   (06.11.11)
...even in 67 those lines weren't defensible. Hence that whole little 1967 war. (Jordan's army crossed over those lines pretty easily before Israel eventually turned them back) Defensible borders tend to prevent wars in the first place. Because countries don't / can't attack across a border that is well defended.
89. TITLE OF ARTICLE, NOT TRUE
Mark from Georgia ,   USA   (06.11.11)
At least the issue was presented to Israel as advice, because of this statement in the article, and I quote: "that the United States would oppose the PA's unilateral declaration at the United Nations whether Israel adopted the Obama principles or not." So the USA isn't presenting a "quid pro quo" request, which might be considered a form of blackmail. But I think when you read this quote here: “If that happens we are somewhat confident that the Palestinians will drop what they intend to do in the UN.” I don't understand where that feeling comes from? First, it certainly is NO guarantee, is it? The Palestinians are in fact asking for a precondition (from Israel) that can be...and is, in my opinion...blackmail. Without even providing any guarantee, of what they will give in return? Which is very typical of the Palestinian requests. Even their silly request for a unilateral entity has been framed the same way (i.e. First give the Palestinians an entity, and only then, will Palestinians "tell" you, how we regard Israel, and whether we will recognize Israel). Would anybody buy a car the same way? Look for, and find a car you like, then give the owner all the money he asks for, up front, and in cash. Then the owner will "tell" you whether he will sell you the car. If not, he will keep the car...and the money...and go on his way? Nobody in their right mind go for such an option. Yet this is what the Palestinians think fair? Apparently there are some kooks out there that agree? The bottom line is the Palestinians need to stop playing PR games, sit down with Israel and have direct talks, period. NO preconditions. That means No Freeze on building, No new entity, Nothing. You sit down and talk. During those talks a clear message must be sent by the Palestinians (including Hamas), that all past agreements will be honored, renouncing all forms of violence and terrorism, and recognizing Israel. If the Palestinians cannot bring themselves to say those simple words, lets fact it, there will be no need for peace talks, right? At the end of the day, SOMETIMES, there is a PEACE that can only be found on the OTHER-SIDE OF WAR! Sad, but true.
90. #56, 58 - Taqiyya! You are NO Christian!
Linda Rivera ,   New York, USA   (06.11.11)
If Jesus was born in our time period, you would want Jesus kicked out of Israel for being a Jew living in his homeland of Israel!
