1. BBC, SKI, CNN??
where are... ,   ISRAEL   (06.12.11)
why is it there is such a silence about it?
2. genocide
fredi ,   karmiel/israel   (06.12.11)
where is Goldstone and his comrades? Where is the Arab world?
3. Obama
Israel Israeli ,   Tel Aviv   (06.12.11)
Obama has the guts to use advanced drones to rain death on helpless Afghan villagers for no apparent reason. Obama spewed unfounded and unproven allegations of crimes by Gaddafi as an excuse to start the massive bombardment of civilians in Libya so he can replace Gaddafi with a puppet regime. Yet, when faced with a real brutal regime and undeniable evidence of crimes, Obama is nowhere to be found.
4. Utter Hypocricy
Paul Sinclair ,   Athens, Greece   (06.12.11)
No big hype from the BBC, etc because they can't bash Israel over this! The Arab world & all the west would be incoherent with rage if Israel did a fraction of what Assad is doing, but even Obama is quiet because it's not in his interest! He doesn't care about Arabs, Israel or anybody else except for the USA's immediate interests! If anybody really cared the world would be attacking Syria, Iran and their Hezbollah puppets right now to clear up this disaster! But again, moslems kill thousands of moslem and nobody really cares! Israel protects itself and one moslem dies and all the world is up in arms! What unbelievabe hypocricy!
5. Human rights watch anywhere ?
jerry1800   (06.12.11)
for a change AlJazeera telling and showing the truth !
6. WORDS MEAN THINGS
Mark from Georgia ,   USA   (06.12.11)
I've been watching the Sunday morning news reports. So far when they read the headlines Syria did get the first story, but they moved quickly to national news. We will see what happens on the Sunday morning talk shows, which start at 9am and various shows run through until noon. These are the shows that usually have syndicated columnists, who are considered "experts" in various areas of the news.(financial, politics, International etc.). I use the term "experts" loosely because often we'll see people like Thomas Friedman our favorite moron on the Middle East. So I'll be able to get a better idea of what sort of coverage Syria will get for the week. Typically these shows set the bar of what was considered important...at least by the Main Stream Media (MSM)...for the previous week and what may be covered this coming week. Now so far, they seem to be covering more about the ship wreck treasure hunter, and his recent announcement, that he will search for Bin Laden body. Because he doesn't believe the government, I think he believes the government is still holding him prisoner. Then of course there is a huge forest fire in Arizona (430,000 acres). So it doesn't seem Syria is high priority, does it? But there never is when Arabs kill Arabs by the thousand. Only if Israel kilLs 9 terrorists on a ship in self defense does it become a "massacre", right? Somebody...an Arab leader or some recent book...called it the worst sea disaster of the 21st century? 9 guys killed while shooting and stabbing IDF soldiers? Then what do you call Syrian, Libyan, Yemeni, Egyptian killing of 4-5 thousand civilians, that's EASY, we call the "ARAB SPRING". Interesting word games the Arabs play, isn't it?
7. WORDS MEAN THINGS
Paul Sinclair ,   Athens, Greece   (06.12.11)
spot on the mark there, Mark from Georgia, USA! However, I would be inclined to make a slight addition to your very last line and say instead, "Interesting word games the Arabs and the Western media play, isn't it?"
8. Not reported in the Guardian,NPR,BBC
DavidM ,   USA   (06.12.11)
The atrocities of the Syrian regime go unreported in much of the western media. Having invested so much in portraying the Assad clan as reformers and fashion plates they dare not admit error.Thomas Friedman of the New York Times responded by urging a weekly march against Israel. While Syrian civilians are being murdered by the day this is the best the foreign media can do.
9. Mark, Georgia
Helene ,   Tel Aviv   (06.12.11)
Great talkback !!! Thank you for your wisdom. Wish many people would think the way you do
10. So, where is Human Rights Watch?
Frauss ,   Jerusalem   (06.12.11)
They don't go where it is too violent and dangerous. They only bash countries where they can have a relaxing drink at 5:00 in a air-conditioned hotel.
11. Sorry to say, go AlJazeera.
Nora Tel Aviv   (06.12.11)
While Israel bashers (BBC, Sky, CNN ) play the wait-and-see in Syria ,.AlJazeera is sending their correspondents to those dangerous places. As an Israeli, I must congratulate AlJazeera for risking their correspondent`s lives to get first hand news awailable to the world.
12. A Very Interesting Thought. What if people on the ground
meir elazar   (06.13.11)
would communicate somehow to IDF that Syria using helicopters to shoot as crowds of civilians and IAF would send a few planes to blow the helicopters out of the sky? Note that today's paper has an article about someone arrested for spying for Israel in Egypt. USA and others are "protecting civilians" in Libya. Hezbollah are forcing Syrian soldiers to die or commit atrocities. Israel's actions would certainly piss off Ahmadinejad and the Iranians. Helping Syrians might accelerate the overthrow of Assad and might drive a wedge between Lebanon and Iran. Lots of very interesting possibiliteis here.
