1. Do not bow down to Obama - Wait for Mitt
Rachel ,   US   (06.15.11)
Talking to colleagues, I'm seriously beginning to doubt he win reelection because the economy is horrible. Besides the majority of Americans support Israel. He does not have the support to pressure Israel the way he wants to. Obama will no choice but to veto the UN resolution for his party's sake if nothing else.
2. OBAMA'S PLAN...
Ian ,   Newcastle upon Tyne   (06.15.11)
...is even worse for Israel than the Saudi 'Peace' Plan. At least the Saudi 'Peace 'Plan offers Israel immediate peace leading to a slow suicide.Obama's plan offers Israel NOTHING except fast annihilation. THREE CHEERS FOR ISRAEL!!! (and THREE CHEERS FOR MR NETANYAHU!!! for standing up to Obama)
3. We must not leave such critical decisions up to Bibi.
Chaim ,   Israel   (06.15.11)
The answer to Ettinger's last question is "I don't know". We don't know whether or not Bibi will stand up to Obama's hostile pressure on Bibi to make lunatic concessions to our mortal enemies. Given Bibi's long history of talking tough and than folding, under pressure, like a lawn chair, I don't put much faith in Bibi. However, we can't leave such critical decisions up to Bibi. All of Patriotic Israel, the vast majority of our land, must rise up with a resounding "NO" to Israeli concessions and the evil Two State Final Solution.
4. What a sad disposition>
HaifaGuy   (06.15.11)
On the one hand, we all here are acheing for the US economy to rebounce; on the other hand, if it does sufficiently well around the time of the elections, it will keep Obama in power... I guess I'd rather have Obama in the White House than myself on the dole, which will eventually happen if the US economy keeps plunging ever deeper, that despite our own economical buoyancy.
5. Wake up everybody!
John Prophet ,   of Light   (06.15.11)
Wake up everybody! Compromise a tenet of Western Civilization, has no meaning in the Middle East. It connotes weakness, something Abbas et.al. cannot engage in, Remember Anwar Sadat! The Palestinians, in the many years of "negotiating"  have not made a single concession, not one! "Negotiation is a process where each party involved in negotiating tries to gain an advantage for themselves by the end of the process. Negotiation is intended to aim at compromise." This will never happen with the Palestinians! Israel, you are now left with only two choices, surrender or create new realties on the ground that will change the landscape in the Middle East forever.
6. Obama vs Israel-Lobby
jackflash   (06.15.11)
Does anyone REALLY believe that the lobby of a small, isolated coutry will be able to blackmail the foreign policy of a super-power indefinately? The Israel-Lobby's days of influence are numbered.
7. Hussein Obama is as bad for Israel, as
Chris Rettenmoser ,   Bayerisch Gmain Germ   (06.15.11)
it can be...Bibi countered him once and the American people just LOVE him for that...NEVER GIVE IN TO THE DEMANDS OF A MUSLIM...!!!
8. FINALLY Someone Got This RIGHT!!!
Edward ,   Savannah, USA   (06.15.11)
It's about time that someone in Israel FINALLY got what is going on in the USA!!! If there was ONE issue that would throw that illegal alien muslim poser from Kenya out on his worthless butt would be for him to blatantly harm Israel in any kind of way. He can diss Netanyahu all he wants, he can make his speeches to his muslim relatives all he wants, but Congress would impeach/arrest this poser in a heartbeat should he damage Israel in any way!!! EVERYTHING our Founding Fathers laid out for us in the USA came directly from the Scriptures that the Hebrew People passed down to the world. Without those Scriptures, there would be NO Freedom or Liberty anywhere, especially in the USA, and THOSE two virtures are what unties Americans together more than anything else. Though we have fallen very low in our morals in this country lately, Israel would be the ONE issue most Americans would have a revolution over. Oduma, no you CAN'T, and if you know what's good for ya, you just better NOT mess with Israel!!!
9. The O-Dog makes Tricky Dick look like Honest Abe.
Noodles ,   Coney Island   (06.15.11)
10. Rachel #1: Mitt Romney
Steve   (06.15.11)
If Romney is the GOP nominee, he might consider a principled conservative as a running mate. Romneycare (from which Obamacare was modeled), Romney's madate that everyone buy into his socialized program, his bow to man-made global warming championed by the left, etc., are not popular with the conservative base, in particular the tea party movement. Romney's response to the question CNN's John King posed to Herman Cain Monday night, re: Muslims serving in his administration; Romney's view there is no Sharia problem in the U.S. or our courts, was alarming. Maybe Romney does not think we are at war? Or he is not sure who attacked America on 9/11? Notwithstanding, I will vote for the Republican nominee whoever he or she is - Obama is that dangerous! I hope a President Romney will not pursue Bush's misguided policies as they pertained to Israel. Bush's support for a Muslim state in Israel's strategic heartland brought disrepute to the conservative movement. Obama stepped in to fill the immoral void that Bush established. Republicans need to repair the damage Bush did to the party.
11. #6 You need to learn to read ...
Nahum Korda ,   Ein Ziwan, Israel   (06.15.11)
Re-read the article and notice that it claims that the support for Israel stems from the basic American values and NOT from the influence of one lobby or the other.
12. Better days are coming soon....
Uncle Sam ,   USA   (06.15.11)
in 1 1/2 years US will have a PRO ISRAEL president Make NO decisions or consessions now.!!!
13. #8 & #10
joesixpack ,   usa   (06.15.11)
hey edward, and rachel...dont like it, maybe you can move to Isreal where you'd be more comfortable. Get off the Faux news/ Glenda Beck teat and come down from you holier than though high...Edward, your insulting remarks reek of self import, godlessness and spending too long in moms basement. For your information, most Americans are sick if Isreals insufferable and continued giving the middle finger to the world. And Rachel, you go ahead and vote for whichever is the Repube du jour. they are all lying hacks, Newt Gingrich? Michelle Bachman? loosers who care nothing for Americans, only the corporates in charge. You got one thing right though rachel, not only the few remaining "normal" republicans but all Americans need to repair the damage Bush instigated on our country and Obama will, but not without some true bipartisan cooperation. The obstructionist republicans are intent on destroying our economy, social programs, education system, anything to make Obama look bad. They are bought posers disguised as politicians. Such vile, hatred ideals eminate from Isreal, (just read these posts), and it poisons the well, and is no different from other haters including arabs. The world is sick of Net/Bibi, both neocons, and sick of babysitting your self denial and any chance at any peace ever in the ME.
14. There will always be pressure on Israel to appease the Arabs
JMK ,   NYC   (06.15.11)
The Arabs and Muslims, have the Koran of fiction and hate, they have the oil, the land, albeit desert, the people. All this will continue until the scientists at Technion develop an engine that runs on water.
15. #3, do you really think Netanyahu has any intention...
Jake ,   USA   (06.15.11)
...of creating a PA state? He talks about first creating "economic peace" which means the PA will have a strong economy so that its Arab citizens won't turn to terrorism, and enjoy life under Israeli rule. I understand that even accepting the idea of a PA state --in principle-- is very dangerous, and sets a terrible precedent for future governments. However, Bibi is enjoying great support from the U.S. congress, and is building a bloc of nations that will oppose the PA statehood declaration in September. If Bibi rejected a PA state outright, he may not have that support. Keep in mind, he inherited an Israeli government run by some of the most radical leftists ever to run the country. He's done a great job of reversing much of what Olmert's cirminal gang accomplished. Let's give him credit where credit is due. I for one believe that he has no intention of ever creating a PA state.
16. The enemies of Israel....
Shalom ,   U.S.A.   (06.15.11)
will be defeated! G-d willing.
17. joesixpack #13: You said it all...
Steve   (06.15.11)
You wrote: "The obstructionist republicans are intent on destroying our economy, our SOCIAL PROGRAMS, our (government-run) education system, anything to make Obama look bad." The "evil" small business and corporations you hate happent to provide jobs. All the while many hard-working Americans are suffering under the misguided policies of this dangerous Marxist that you support, you seem to be quite happy. Perhaps you are a government employee? Or maybe you are part of the "moocher" class. Obama does not need anyone (including Republicans) to make him "look bad." He is making himself look bad without any help from the opposition.
18. #1, 10 Best candidate has yet to declare
Sue ,   Los Angeles   (06.15.11)
Mitt would be good for Israel, but even better is Governor Rick Perry of Texas who has a proven record of actual support for the Jewish State, not just words. Four years ago he founded the Texas-Israel Chamber of Commerce and has been honored by the Israeli government. Perry is in his 3rd term in office and is currently the longest-serving governor. He is Chairman of the Republican Governors Association since 2008. Perry's a big threat to Obama's reelection because UNDER PERRY, TEXAS IS NUMBER ONE IN THE U.S. IN JOB CREATION AND THE ECONOMY. A devout Christian, Perry is also a great speaker, handsome and charismatic. There is speculation that he will enter the race soon especially since his gubernatorial campaign staff just resigned from Newt Gingrich's campaign and immediately flew back to Texas.
19. #13 the only one making Obama look bad - is Obama
Sue ,   Los Angeles   (06.15.11)
Obama took a mild recession and made it into a depression with no signs of recovery. After 2 1/2 years in office, Obama triple the national debt and is responsible for the bad economy, nearly 10% unemployment, and the huge mess he created in the Middle East (i.e. Egypt, Libya, Yemen, Syria...). Stop blaming George Bush and everyone else for Obama's failure of leadership and the severe damage he has done to America and to our allies - including Israel.
20. To #13
Edward ,   Savannah, USA   (06.15.11)
You definitely are on the "teat" of your marxist/communist fraud, the poser, and YOU can move back to Kenya with your beloved "fuhrer" when he is arrested and/or impeached for the illegal alien muslim fraud that he is. Your ignorance is astounding and you can't read very well, just like your poser. Is your teleprompter broken too where you didn't READ or UNDERSTAND that MOST Americans support Israel as was CLEARLY shown in this articlel!!!??? But, like I said, YOUR ignorance and stupidity is astounding and thankfully YOU don't represent the majority of Americans when it comes to Israel!!!
21. #13. Good Lord!! Such a long post that says nothing.
Harry Wright ,   UK   (06.15.11)
Mister, you are so shallow. You are really out of your league here. Stick to your sixpack on a recliner. That is your level.
22. Obama is getting pretty desperate and frustrated.
Harry Wright ,   UK   (06.15.11)
He pinned his hopes on making dramatic "change" in the ME and an Israeli/Pals solution. His only hope now is to just get those two to the table, that is all. He brought all his troubles on himself.
23. To: No. 13
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (06.15.11)
Thanks for the drunken rant. Israel has had to fight six wars -- all started by the Arabs and won by Israel. Israel has also had to deal with seven decades of Arab violence and terror. We don't think that the victor should have to make territorial concessions. Germany lost 25% of its land mass following World War II; Italy was forced to cede Istria to then-Yugoslavia; the United States retained Iwo Jima until 1968 and continues to hold 90% of Okinawa. Losing wars suck. But you don't punish the victor. And returning to the 1949 ceasefire lines is absurd! You know what? I bet the Confederacy didn't mean to lose to the Union -- how about returning to the 1861 secession declaration? Makes about as much sense.
24. OBAMA
DANIEL RIMOKH ,   LOS ANGELES   (06.15.11)
OBAMA THINK THAT ISRAEL IS A BANANA REPUBLIC.....HUSSEIN OBAMA HAVE TO UNDERSTAND THAT ISRAEL DON'T TRUST HIM ANYMORE.....OBAMA WILL BE READY TO SOLD ISRAEL FOR THE FRIENDSHIP TO THE ARABES.....MR OBAMA TELL YOUR ADVISERS AT THE WHITE HOUSE THEY CAN HATE ISRAEL....BUT ISRAEL IS HERE TO STAY FOR EVER AND EVER.....AND AMERICA SHOULD BE PROUD TO HAVE AN ALLIED LIKE ISRAEL.....SALAM MR HUSSEIN OBAMA..... THANK YOU SHALOM,,,DANIEL RIMOKH

If you got your nose out of that sixpack you might notice that when Bush was president the congress and senate were controlled by democrats.

Eaglebeak ,   Left Coast, USA   (06.15.11)
Thank you Sue. That was interesting.
27. Polls
Smith ,   TA, Israel   (06.15.11)
Obama is more popular than GW Bush was at the same time in his presidency and the same with Bill Clinton. Ettinger is like a gambler addicted to the odds and statistics. I hope Bibi isn't basing his foreign policy on betting Obama won't win. Because if he does, well, we better pray he is a merciful and forgiving leader of the free world because we will all pay the price.
28. #11
jackflash   (06.15.11)
How can Israeli "settlements" and annexations promote US values? US support for Israel stemms from Evangelic Christians who believe Jews must gather in the "promised land" for the second coming of Christ and all Jews will recognize him as Messiah or perish. Israel has enterd a pact with lunatics and will pay dearly one day.
29. to # 7
RIO   (06.16.11)
do you think Obama is appeared as president by magic?. Well not, the majority of Americans voted for him, so the majority of Americans want him as president
