Netanyahu's arrogant and disrespectful attitude towards the President of the United States angered and frustrated many Americans. Don't assume his constituents are pro-Israel, their Americans first and foremost. Americans have tired of the unending conflict, Bibi has shown that there is no compromise and that there is no interest in ANY negotiation.
32. RIO #30 Odumba has passed Bush
Gee ,   Zikron Yaakov   (06.16.11)
He too has two unearned wars, plus the other two he has going on. That gives him 4 wars at once. Odumba is working on double digit unemployment and has more than tripled the deficit. Great President that racist has turned out to be.
33. HERE'S AN IDEA...
Frank-el ,   Seattle USA   (06.16.11)
How about Israel vote a leader who puts the US's interests ahead of Israel's? That makes as much sense as this silly article (and US posters) who say we should pick our President based primarily on his-her support for Israel. How's this for an idea: pick the person who best represents and promotes the good of the country; who puts US's strategic interests first; and who is not afraid of any country. And any US citizen who puts Israel's interests (or any other country) ahead of US please leave NOW. I expect Israelis to act for Israel and US people to act for the USA...not Israel, the Vatican, Mecca, whatever.

Americans wantED Obama as president - his approval ratings are now below 50%... Bad news for Barry!!! He's a one-termer!!!
35. OBAMA IS DESPERATE
BEN JABO ,   ISRAEL   (06.16.11)
All of his attempts at Foreign Policy have been utter failures; he's looking for at least one success Name the country, he failed American Unemployment is more that 14,000,000 out of jobs, millions have stopped looked, Unemployment rate is 9.1% Anything he put his hand to has turned to crap Obama wants Israel to be the sacrificial lamb on the Altar of his 2012 re-election bid

Majorities sometimes make mistakes, the did with Jimmy Carter and made another one with Obama Did you ever go into s store, buy something because the packaging looked nice, ate some, and then realized the package may have looked nice; however the contents left a bad taste in your mouth: That's Obama, nice package concealing defective contents The majority of American bought a pig in a poke He made loads of promises and hasn't kept most of them Obama shoved Obamacare down American throats, the majority doesn’t want any part of it, 14 million unemployed, 4 million jobs lost since he became President Look at the latest Polls, Obama’s ratings have plummeted
37. Smith, TA #27: Pray Obama is merciful?

Are there really Jewish ghettos in Tel Aviv?
38. Arrogance!
Eli ,   USA   (06.16.11)
Obama is arrogant, he throws every US ally under the Bus while bowing down to the Arabs, he starts a war in Libya without asking Congress, he snubs at everyone. How could US Jews support such a terrorist! Israel should ignore this President completely, don't even answer the phone when he calls.
39. Need something more.
Peter Lewin ,   London UK   (06.16.11)
Kicking everything into touch, until Obama is thrown out, is a risky strategy. Netenyahu should go onto the offensive--no more talks until Fatah/Hamas recognise Israel as a Jewish State. No more talks until Hamas/Fatah accept that the grandchildren of "refugees" can not and will not be settled in Israel.

Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., one of the greatest Americans who ever lived, will answer your question: "...anti-Zionist is inherently antisemitic, and ever will be so. Why is this? You know that Zionism is nothing less than the dream and ideal of the Jewish people returning to live in their own land. The Jewish people, the Scriptures tell us, once enjoyed a flourishing Commonwealth in the Holy Land. From this they were expelled by the Roman tyrant, the same Romans who cruelly murdered Our Lord. Driven from their homeland, their nation in ashes, forced to wander the globe, the Jewish people time and again suffered the lash of whichever tyrant happened to rule over them. The Negro people, my friend, know what it is to suffer the torment of tyranny under rulers not of our choosing. Our brothers in Africa have begged, pleaded, requested--DEMANDED the recognition and realization of our inborn right to live in peace under our own sovereignty in our own country. How easy it should be, for anyone who holds dear this inalienable right of all mankind, to understand and support the right of the Jewish People to live in their ancient Land of Israel. All men of good will exult in the fulfilment of God's promise, that his People should return in joy to rebuild their plundered land. "

# 6 you show your ignorance, or should I say ignorence...use spell check when spouting off your vitriol. It's far more effective.
42. Support for 'palestinians" and Bin Laden is the same in US
Moshe ,   Netanya   (06.16.11)
It seems 16% support "palestinians" and about 18% support Bin Laden. Presumably, everyone supporting "palestinians" supporting Bin Laden. I am sure more folks there know who is Bin Laden and less know who are the so-called "palestinians". or some folks there belive that Bin Laden will help them to change USA, transform into communist/islamist state but "palestinians" are of no use for those radicals.

Do not bow down to any US President telling you to give up land for peace. It does not work, as you know. The land belongs to Israel. PERIOD!

46. To #13 Hey Joe
John ,   Alaska   (06.16.11)
You wrote ... "Such vile, hatred ideals eminate from Isreal, (just read these posts), and it poisons the well, and is no different from other haters including arabs." This is classic anti-semitism. You move from accusing the Jews in town of poisoning the well, and use the more politically correct accusation against Israel and make the well a metaphor. But you're still a hater of Jews. You push the typical liberal hash attempting to equate Israel with their Muslim enemies and spew the typical liberal rot blaming Israel for the hatred of enemies who want to see the Jewish nation destroyed. Happily for the US, you are in the minority. The US does and will stand with Israel. Also and unrelated: you say that it is not Obama but the Republicans that are destroying our economy. You should probably do some reading on the economy; you might be surprised to learn that the closeted Muslim in the White House has been hard at work tanking our economy since 2009.
47. To #31 I missed something
John ,   Alaska   (06.16.11)
You complain that Israel has made no compromises. What do you call unilaterally pulling back from Gaza, evicting the Jews living there and giving the place to Israel's enemies, if not a compromise? I can provide more examples of how Israel has compromised, but first I would like an answer to this one. Also, I must have missed this: please tell me ONE compromise that the Arabs have made. Oh wait - you can't. Abbas assured his people that he would never make even one compromise. As far as Netanyahu's response to the arrogant and disrespectful attitude with which Obama has treated him (I can provide examples if you wish), the numerous standing ovations our legislators gave him shows the extent to which he has angered or frustrated us Americans; that is, not at all.
48. John #47 you have missed a few items
Gee ,   Zikron Yaakov   (06.17.11)
How about the creation of the PA itself? Was that not a compromise in the first place? How about all the lands that the PA occupy today? Did we not compromise on that too? How about all the items under Oslo I, Oslo II, and Wye River. Under each and every one of those we compromised and the Arabs did not. We have compromised many many times and the Arabs as you pointed out not one single compromise ever. Nor have they ever fulfilled a single one of their obligations.

Peter Berkowsky ,   Livingston, NJ (USA)   (06.17.11)
Excellent article, Mr. Ettinger. But your penultimate paragraph concludes that Israel's alliance with the US is based on "shared values, MUTUAL threats and joint interests." I think you meant to say "COMMON threats" -- a big difference.
51. Ben Jabo's useless predictions on Obama
ballistic ,   Henderson, USA   (06.17.11)
Israelis better not pay attention to your predictions. I recall you said on Haaretz that Obama was a "flash in the pan" prior to his winning the presidency. Paul Ryan's plan ensures he will be reelected. Look at the NY election of a Dem after Repubs held that seat for time immemorial. Your predictions about Obama's reelection are useless.

So you reference an election in NY, but have you read the news of the latest election in NY? A republican, that's right, a republican WON a race in a district that is 2/3rds democrat! Obama is toast!!!!!!! YEAHHHH!!!!!

For all those Obama lovers, if the mamzer is bad now to Israel, just imagine what he will be like if he is elected a second time around. God help us, Send him a one-way ticket to Arafat
