31. Kadima oversimplifys a complex situation.
michael   (06.15.11)
I'd rather the PM stand his ground. than Kadima slice up our country and than get nothing in return. President Obama is hostile to Israel regardless of Kadima or Likud PM. The difference is nentanyahu understands there is nothing Israel can do short of dismantling Israel to get a pat on the Back from Obama. Kadima would never realize the severity of the situation.
32. USA USA USA
Sharona ,   Jerusalem   (06.15.11)
Obamination can't stop the outpouring of support for Israel in the US and the US Congress. Kadima is just a bunch of left wingnuts whining which is what lefties always do
33. At # 24
Gábor Fränkl   (06.15.11)
Yes, they are. But this medium acting as their mouthpiece, which glaringly provides it with due space and sanitizes Netanyahu's counter-claims demolishing all their points and making mincemeat of their fatuous and vacuous "arguments" too.
34. What allies? Zimbabwe and her likes?
Jack ,   San Diego, USA   (06.15.11)
35. Just like BUsh did to the US = Right Wing is isolating
me   (06.15.11)
36. Isreal will suddenly have many more
Rose ,   USA   (06.15.11)
friends when the gas and oil fields begin to produce more and be exported. In meantime Bibi is doing very well under very difficult situations
37. Yet again...
Naor ,   USA   (06.15.11)
Livni and Kadima yet again put partisan politics before the good of the nation. Your weak attempt to blame all of Israel's troubles on Bibi for political gains are pointless, the Israeli populace is not dumb. Is Bibi perfect? No, but he sure as hell is doing a better job than Kadima would. Israelis know damn well that the nations turn against her simply because she is the Jewish nation, not because the actions of one man. He stood up and said what the majority of Israelis believe. Jerusalem united, retain troops in Jordan valley, and keep control of strategic areas of Judea and Samaria.
38. Netanyahu - Why He Is The Way He Is
Moritz ,   New York   (06.15.11)
Netanyahu and his current governing coalition are, obviously, not exactly popular abroad, and it's easy to understand the reasons: taught, not particularly pleasant personalities (especially the Foreign Minister). But, there is a justification: Israel is a very small country, surrounded by a lot of taught enemies with big countries, and by some questionable friends, all ready to deceive (saying one thing today, followed by exactly the opposite tomorrow), so the only way to deal with taught people is ... to be taught. Netanyahu loves his country and he is not willing to give it away on a silver plate. You may question his personality, behavior, but you cannot question his determination to lead and defend his country with dignity.
39. It does not matter if the world is your friend...
O V A D Y A H ,   Hales   (06.15.11)
in the past when Israel placed thier trust in G-d they florished and enemies failed... when israel turned thier back on G-d thier enemies over ran them. ultimately in this current conflict all nations will turn on Israel according to the Tanach and the only ally israel will have is God. Netanyahu may not be perfect but he is doing his best to navigate the Political Landmines lay for him by both israels friends and ememies... pray for G-ds hand on your country
40. Itzik Talks Nonsense
Reuven Brauner ,   Raanana, Israel   (06.15.11)
Israel has many friends around the world and many "allies" albeit real politic makes all out support for Israel complicated and challenging. I think BN has done an admiral job in securing positive world opinion for our position, and he has done it without selling out our security concerns as did Rabin, Peres, Sharon, Olmert, and Barak.
41. Talks like a loser, squawks like a loser
Brian Cohen ,   Judean Peoples Front   (06.15.11)
Whine whine whine...the bleating of the Israeli opposition. Just to mention, of course, that the right wing behaves like a whiney brat too when it's in the opposition.
42. Dalia Itzik
tz   (06.16.11)
Dalia darling - No one cares what you think, other than your buddy Ms. Livni...no one cares!!!
43. Let's Fess Up Now
Mark ,   USA   (06.16.11)
Ok...you lovelies on the Left..Bibi may have done damage to Israel, but real damage started back after the '67 War-Dayan's giving control of the Mount to the arabs. Then there is a long list of gov't screw-ups. There's Begin and the silly peace treaty that's about to be nullified. There's Rabin's allowing the Pals back into Israel to carry on their intifada. How about Barak's hasty retreat from Lebanon and offering of Jerusalem? Then Olmert and Livni offered the Pals similar "treats", and allowed the arabs and the Left to disenfranchise Israel. So don't put it all on Bibi. And now is the time for Israelis to stand together, because you're right-Israel has no friends, including all of the smart, college educated American Jews on the Left.
44. mortz, well said. Is the world in favor of hamas?
de de ,   n/a   (06.16.11)
are they just willing to believe the lies these people spew out and decide all of the sudden Israel is bad? What kind of friends woud these kind of people be? Wishie washie friends at best. Stand your ground PM we think you will do just fine.
45. Bibi Netanyahu is on the right track.
Anthony David Marks ,   Israel   (06.16.11)
Nonsense! When Tzpi Livni and Dalia Itzik receive a thunderous endorsement from both Houses of the US Congress and the suppport of the Canadian Prime Minister, we can start listening to them. PM Bibi Netanyhu is standing his ground and most Israelis support him. The world has more respect for leaders who stand up for their country than those who collapse under pressure and make disasterous self destructive decisions. The Middle East is better served with a strong Israel.
46. Re: Brain Cohen
G. Fränkl   (06.16.11)
Well, Brian, on your last sentence you actually err. BB is so head and shoulders above these two women and the terrible (terribly irresponsible, greedy, power-hungry) party they represent that it simply doesn't need any explanation. It's simple really. Benyamin Netanyahu IS the political BRAIN of Israel, while these two women allowing the possibility that they in fact know what they're talking about are incredibly stupid. and I'll tell you why they are: the very "arguments" they use, the evry points they make is so utterly transparent in its cheapness, illogic and anti-rationality and anti-validity that the average Israeli voter can see through it from a mile. No wonder. How come that more than 2 years after their taking office their poll numbers are lower than it was on the day of election. This totally contradicts political erosion of the governing party, even if (!) we count is the massive, massive background wind the mainstream Israeli media provides them (opposition) with in their all-out quest to bring him down or at elast seriously dicredit/damage him. Netanyahu is a genius and his empty opponents are cheap poseurs.
47. RE: Opposition: Netanyahu isolated Israel
Ephraim Shalom ,   Henderson NV US   (06.16.11)
If "relations with Barack Obama may be at an all-time low," I'm not sure that this is necessarily a bad thing. Apparently, MK Dalia Itzik missed Netanyahu's speech to the U.S. Congress, for which Bibi received more standing ovations than Obama did during his last State of the Union address. By comparison, isn't it interesting that Israel's standing with the U.S. Congress and with the American people has reached an all-time high, even while Obama's relations with the American people are at an all-time low for his presidency? For those like Itzik and Livni who haven't noticed, Obama never misses an opportunity to violate the trust usually accorded by past U.S. Presidents to America's allies - e.g., the fall of Mubarak. In sum, this amateur ideologue of a President stands for nothing, and trusts no one whose politics don't comport with his political ideology. Israel will be far better off awatiing the results of the next U.S. presidential election before attempting any one-sided effort that would result in The Jewish State's political suicide.
48. Right wingers of the world unite
Jon ,   Baltimore US   (06.16.11)
Yes Israel has friends all over the world. So does every right wing government in the world today. When your support comes only from the extreme right, I would take a look at your basic values and try to remember what kind of countries in the past garnered the support of right wing governments of the world in order to push forward their own extreme agendas.
49. These Talkbacks prove their point
Jon ,   Baltimore US   (06.16.11)
Just look at these hate filled replies. This proves that Israel and the people that support it no longer care at all what people think of their actions. They think it shows their resolve. I think it shows the loss of their humanity. They no longer care for other people around them at all. Only their needs are paramount.
50. PM behavior has encouraged negativity
Nadya ,   US   (06.16.11)
Israel's PM attitude of arrogance and disrespect to our President angered many potential friends of Israel.
51. "Better bad press than a good epitaph" (Golda Meir)
Chaim ,   Israel   (06.16.11)
Back when Labor was a worthy party (not the disgrace of today), Labor P.M. Golda Meir imparted many words of wisdom. One was, "Better bad press than a good epitaph". We should always remember that. Especially when lunatic leftists try to sell us on winning "friends" by endangering our sole tiny Homeland. Real friends would never urge Israel to do that. You won't find Sarah Palin, Rush Limbaugh, Mike Huckabee urging Israel to make idiotic concessions.
52. I'd beg to differ if its directions they're considering.
Ypip ,   Canada   (06.16.11)
53. Bravo Dalia Itzik for speaking the truth!
Rafi ,   US   (06.16.11)
Netanyahu is an unmitigated embarassment and loser for the State of Israel. History will prove him to be the worst PM in modern Israeli history - altho Ehud Barak gives him a good run for the money... Itzik is absolutely correct in that, under Netanyahu, Israel has lost more diplomatic ground than at any other time in its history - and the hemmoraging is not over yet! Don't be misled by the shallow ovations in US Congress... Netanyahu's recent visit in the US, particularly in the White House, was a disgrace - and represents a low point in diplomacy, particularly in relations with the US. But that's OK - it boosted Bibi's standing with his constituencies at home and in the US. What could be more important than that?
54. Is Kadima now concerned about a divided
Israeli 2   (06.16.11)
Jerusalem? Good for Kadima. Or are they simply fearful that Israelis already realize that kadima tried to divided Jerusalem and failed?
55. As the Bible says, "Where are your friends, Oh Israel?"
Knave Dave ,   U.S.A.   (06.16.11)
Yes, Israel finds itself without a friend in the world. True the U.S. has not turned against it, but all one needs to find themself without a friend is for their few remaining friends to stand silent while their enemies do all the talking and action. Israel makes itself friendless by its hardline stance. Netanyahu makes sure its few remaining friends will stand silent by going to Washington and insulting its president.
