1. Amdocs was the contractor who set up Bell Canada's billing
system.
It was a friggin disaster till such time that Bell did much house cleaning and ended up reading the riot act to Amdocs.
That was about 7 years ago...I hope to hell Amdocs has got it together today...if not they wont last long.
Suppliers (Amdoics) can BS clients so long till they got to prove they arent blowing smoke up their ass.

There are many factors behind Israel's high-tech success, some of them noted here. But let's not overlook ...
- institutions like Weizmann doing pure research, and Technion doing applied research. Indeed most of Israel's high-tech leaders have a Technion connection.
- the "Russians" (really immigrants from the former Soviet Union) who brought technical and scientific skills that were able to flourish in Israel.
- the economic and financial reforms (many pushed by Netanyahu) that removed the straightjacket of Israel's once socialist ethos.
- foreign companies (most notably Intel) that legitimized Israel as a place to do high-tech work

Raymond, you are right. But note that no Russians were featured in this Taglit program. I guess Russians are good enough to be the backbone of scientific innovation in Israel, but aren't good enough to show to fancy American Jewish teenagers?

technology since the first days of the state.
These are not "fancy American teenagers" Many have one and two university degrees. And they can prove that they are JEWISH!
One of my cousins was here two years ago in the Taglit and she had two university degrees and will finish two more in Harvard next June. She may make alyah. These are the olim we need to advance. These fancy Americans who come here educated and with a few dollars in their pockets.

Wow, this gives me a flashback right to the 1930's, when people had to "prove their Aryan heritege", or face... consequences.
We truly thank you for not putting us filthy mischlings down, but allow us to live at your holy Jewish feet and worship you from the bottom of society's drain, where we're only worthy to be cannon fodder and do all the dirty jobs you shy away from.
