As a matter of fact, no Westerner should travel to any Arab country these days. Arab paranoia is well known & many unscrupulous politicans looking for scapegoats & distractions. Instead of ''democracy'' we have mob rule, they'll throw anyone to the mob. I think it should be clear that this guy was not a spy just someone not playing with a full deck. When I lived in an Arab country, we always said that if you were arrested & guilty it was better than arrested & innocent. Essentially, this should serve as a warnig not to travel to Arab countries.

Egypt and it citizens had better know where to draw the line: we've given them BILLIONS in aid and defense, development projects and financial opportunities, imports and exports at record low expense while earning Egyptians hundreds of millions. We brokered the insane Sinai deal and saved Egypts pride. Egypt hangs this man out to dry, it will be their last. They'd better choose wisely; the US can wreak havoc on Egypt in a NY second. This story reminds me of the disappearance 2 or 3 years ago of a former FBI agent now in business who went to Iran to investigate something for a client and disappeared. Jewish, by the way.
