how about keeping to the subject its nothing to do about Holocaust survivors living beneath the poverty line .its about more then 2/3 of the population being robbed of the most basic food. !!!!

3. Cottage as a first step

Great article, and true, the case is bland and that's why so many people follow it. But now people are only getting to know the new tool, they are trying it out. Soon they will become more assertive and use it for more serious causes (although I think the Israeli milk mafia IS a serious problem)
4. because it hits personally every week the pocketbook
Merav ,   Tel Aviv   (06.16.11)
Anything that directly affects an individual will be responded to more quickly and with greater fervor. I didn't join the boycott of cottage cheese -- I already have not afforded to buy a single dairy product of any kind in more than 3 months. Wben the children grow big it will make problems for the teeth but what to do?
5. It's more important than the article suggests.
Terry ,   Eilat - Israel   (06.16.11)
While the subject of cottage cheese may seem trivial, the fact remains that the Israeli consumer over-pays for almost everything, primarily due to the semi-monoplies that dominate our economy. There is collusion between the semi-monopolies, the politicians & bureaucrats, & the media to maintain this lack of competition. If I were to write a book on the Israeli economy, I would title it, ''How to Grow Jews for Fun & Profit.'' Consumers should be mad as hell about this & it's a good sign that people are beginning to make themselves heard.
6. Writer missing the point. Cottage if first step
Levi ,   Karmiel, Israel   (06.17.11)
We are fed up with being robbed. 85% of us make minimum wage. The working poor are waking up. These same people who we work for making these products refuse to pay us a fair wage while they are making profits in the millions of dollars. ISRAELI'S ARE FED UP WITH IT.

9. Just an excuse...
Scott ,   Yaffo, Israel   (06.17.11)
...to write an article. This was hardly enlightening. Sick of self righteous articles trying to 'get us to care.' The author is appealing to the Israeli lowest common denominator in an effort to make them think, "Woah, dude." Furthermore, I'm sure Holocaust survivors would enjoy reasonably priced dairy products.

12. CALL FOR A CONSUMER BOYCOTT
OSSIE ,   JERUSALEM   (06.17.11)
Israel is supposedly a democracy with an economy based on free enterprise and competition. What a joke. The issue is not only about cottage cheese. Consumers should be concerned about the outrageous price gouging that is fuelling inflation and hitting the hip pocket nerve throughout the economy. Investigate the mafia of cartels and oligarchs who manipulate and monopolise the political and economic system throughout the Israeli economy.
13. Difference - better social networking content & skills?
stephanie ,   central israel   (06.18.11)
Perhaps you are right about the bland cause issue, but bland or not, people can easily relate because it affects them directly. The cause also offers an action item. So not only can we complain, we can act. It's not fair to generalize that Israelis aren't concerned about other causes, they are just must farther from our control.
14. Cottage Cheese pricing
muriel ,   israel   (06.18.11)
If that were the only problem we had to deal with, it would not be all that bad ! I had no say when the govt decided that banks would no longer be managing my Gemel account - and automatically transferred it to a an insurance co. - I am almost certain that I wouldn't have lost the few thousands that I have ! What abt the exorbitant water price hike based on the supposed scarcity of water ?!! The price of bread - the staff of life ?
15. Cottage cheese
roxie ,   israel   (06.18.11)
It isn't the only over priced food here, what about the price of 3% milk in the bag now at 5 sheckles a liter,it is quiet expensive for those of us with kids that drink alot of milk. Don't forget the high prices on Beef,Chicken, and even fish..for a family of 4 it is getting to e a struggle to put food on the table. Last year I was able to spend an average of 300 sheckles a week (family of 4) to put food on my table( nothing fancy) I am now spending 600 sheckles week on average for the same items ! Something needs to change here and dont get me started on the price of gas!

17. Clueless about Cottage Cheese
Ayelet HaShachar ,   Maale Adummim, Israe   (06.22.11)
Dear Sir: You are utterly and completely clueless about how the cost of living impacts people in this country ( especially those with larger families) and how cottage cheese has become the hot button for a larger problem. A friend of mine stopped buying cottage cheese over a year ago because of the price. I have recently done the same. It had nothing to do with a boycott. I am trying to feed my children here, and cottage cheese is a source of protein and a healthy snack which I now decline. We also rarely buy fish and buy chicken only for shabbos. All of the issues you named are important, but your hatred of the hareidim blinds you to the real issue that is touching a raw nerve broadly felt by many sectors of Israeli society every day: feeding my family. I am an olah chadashah from an upper middle class situation in the US. As the price of my home there is tanking, as my husband's business is tanking because of the failing US economy, the price of housing, food, and goods here is skyroketing. I can't afford to buy a home. I can't afford to buy cottage cheese. If my situation is thus, I can only imagine what the situation is for the average Israeli, especially if he is hareidi. If all of this is not affecting you, then count your blessings but don't dismiss the problems the rest of us are having in order to serve your own political/anti-religious agenda. BTW, I am not hareidi.
