99% of the art community in the world, including Israel, shares naive left wing ideas of "compassion to the underdog". If we start pushing away every artist who has at some point expressed such ideas we will become a culturally isolated bitter self-pitying country. It's enough that Shakira wants to make a public visit to Israel - which is a statement by itself. We should welcome her and encourage this - she is a talented singer, a humanitarian and is hot! Everybody making the point that she would not be permitted to dress and permorm the way she does in an Arab country - make your point in action by welcoming her in our country.

She never made any anti semitic comments. You'll believe those rumours while at the same time complain when people attempt to slander Israel? She has a lot of fans in Lebanon and the Arab world (and they're not all fellow Christians). Maybe this will help Lebanese civillians a different view of Israelis. Shakira is fine. She makes very enjoyable music, and although I cannot say whether she said disparaging things about Israel (I've heard all the gossip, but gossip is not fact), I can assure you if she hated Israel as much as you all seem to assume, she would not visit. Welcome to Israel Shakira.

Don't believe everything you hear. She never said anything negative about Israel, and if she had anything at all against Israel, she would not be visiting. If anything, we should be encouraging any actor/celebrity/musician who visits Israel these days..as there is so much pressure on them not to.

to #10 one more thing a month or less ago she was here in Lebanon and she went to abu dhabi and morocco(3 arabic countries) and those were 3 of her most successful concerts ever! She's even planning to make an album in arabic!
