1. DEAR SHIMON ,GIVE IT A REST
LAWRENCE ,   Zefat (Safed)   (06.19.11)
You are becoming a frightful bore. Find a new word other than "PEACE ."
2. Senile old fool
Gee ,   Zikron Yaakov   (06.19.11)
Meaning he doesn't have a lot time. The Arabs have never made a single peaceful gesture or move. They have violated every single provision of every treaty they have signed. They have never agreed to or offered a single concession. They have never fulfilled a single obligation for even one day. So where does he think there is the minutest chance of peace?
3. #1 I second that
Golan ,   Modiin   (06.19.11)
4. Time is running out
BH ,   Iowa   (06.20.11)
Time is running out on those who have no faith. In seventeen months the US will elect a president who will represent the large majority of Americans of both parties who want the US to have Israel's back. Israel will have the US as an ally once again.
5. Bye bye fictional Palestine.
Chaim ,   Israel   (06.20.11)
Time is running out but only for "Palestinians". The Jewish community of Judea and Samaria is powerful, fast growing and irreversibly successful. Israel is on track to become a major oil and gas power, in addition to having one of the strongest economies in the Western World. "Palestinians" know this and that is why they run around frantically like proverbial chickens without heads. Bye bye fictional Palestine.
6. Coming "Arab majority" is a hoax.
Chaim ,   Israel   (06.20.11)
Peres relies on the long debunked hoax of a coming "Arab majority", unless Israel cedes Judea and Samaria. Many highly credible American and Israeli studies have proven Jews are a growing majority in Israel, including Judea and Samaria. In fact Judea and Samaria are a major demographic asset and have one of the highest birth rates in the Western World.
7. Need to get Peres to go is even more urgent.
Sargent Preston ,   U.S.A.   (06.20.11)
After that show Barak the door.
8. The Next Steps
Adam Neira ,   Melb, Australia   (06.20.11)
It is fascinating to watch various groups arguing over what the next steps should be. The process of Creation was about trust. G-d trusted mankind enough to place him here. He trusted Moses with divine truths. He trusted Joseph to carry out his plans. He trusted the prophets with glimpses of the divine jigsaw puzzle. He also trusts humankind enough to give them plenty of time, space, water, air, land, resources and technology to create a literal Ganeden down here on terra firma. I trust G-d implicitly. I trust that what he showed to me in a crystal clear fashion thirteen years ago that the universe at its essence is stable, ordered, benevolent and expansive was true. I trust that his proof that violence is not inate is true. Trust makes the universe go around. You cannot control it. An elite trust building team is required in Jerusalem tout de suite. Blessed be the peacemakers.
9. Peres is a PEACEnick and as such he is
Israeli 2   (06.20.11)
doing an excellent job.
10. Always the same
David M.   (06.20.11)
Running out of time for what? There is always plenty of time for Israel to capitulate and bring forth its own destruction. The tired arguments used by the Left are nonsensical. Israel will not be minority from the Med. Sea to Jordan. It is our country and we don't want to give it up. Palestinians can live in Jordan that comprises 75% of the original Mandate set for Jews. If they were to accept it, it would be a good deal for them and a major Israeli concession. However, I don't think they will, as they haven't accepted any compromise solution ever. That doesn't mean we should commit a suicide to please them as Shimon Peres suggests.
11. Shimon the fool
John cone ,   USA   (06.20.11)
Wonder how much eu funds he gets at his peace center and if that influences his opinion when will he ever shut up
12. # 1 I third that
Rachelr ,   US   (06.20.11)
13. Process
jjvanka ,   The Hague, NL   (06.20.11)
Without justice, 'peace' has no meaning. There is no peace process, mr Peres.
14. #4 I hope you are right
Eli ,   Jerusalem   (06.20.11)
Israel has to act in her best interests even if G-d forbid it is 4 more years of Obama. But it is always easier when your best friend stands beside you and does not try to force you to do what is not in your best interests. As long as we stay strong and true to our security needs time will be on our side. Only when we "grow tired" and bet against ourselves do we put ourselves at risk. Peres is way past senile...he is insane. There isn't the smallest desire for peace from the Palis. They just want us gone.
15. to 2
senile old one   (06.20.11)
it apears that you are out of time out of place depends on arab failure to be succeeded
16. Enough
Dan ,   USA   (06.20.11)
He can't stop listening to his own voice and playing the fool for the left who hate Israel.
17. Same lies for 60 years, get over it grandpa.
Bunnie Meyer ,   Los Angeles, CA USA   (06.20.11)
18. Wrong, need to release Pollard is URGENT!!!
Paleez ,   Mr. President   (06.20.11)
Stop beating the Arab drum and wake up to Jewish reality
19. arabs can't make peace among themselves
ghostq   (06.20.11)
even, I won't expect anything else from them.
20. Actually
Israel Israeli ,   Tel Aviv   (06.20.11)
Actually, we were on the verge of having peace in 1992 under Shamir. Shamir lost the elections (actually he won an absolute majority of votes) bringing Peres to power. Peres brought the Oslo accords that brought thousands of dead and ruined any chance for peace.
21. Which us Peres?
~~Lengualima~~ ,   I   (06.20.11)
The wise man sees the sky, the signals and timing. The foolish man runs away from home. Gaza and Lebanon are a sign of what can happen in Jerusalem if we engaged in a peace agreement that only exists in the minds of dreamers. Which of the two is Peres?
22. RE: Peres: Need to strike peace with PA 'urgent'
Walter H. Steinlauf ,   Sacramento, CA, USA   (06.20.11)
I am not an Israeli; I am a VERY conservative American Jew. As such, I take strident iisue with the Peres view that there is a Need for Contrived "Peace" with those [Palestinians, Muslims, Arabs] who have sworn to destroy Israel and Worl Jewry. I believe Mr. Peres - by his statements & ostensible philosophy of appeasement endangers us ALL.
23. #22: You couldn't be more wrong.
Israeli 2   (06.20.11)
You are either very naive about Arabs, Muslims or both or you are simply a dolt like Peres is, a leftist mentality with nothing more than Israel's destruction in mind. You are NOT a conservative American at all!
24. Peace
(06.20.11)
No real peace will happen between Jews & Muslims, because of the hatred thre Muslims have against Jews
25. Agree with Peres or not ,we will pay a dear price either way
David ,   Israel   (06.20.11)
The Arabs and Muslims have rejected every peace offer for decades and the Palestinians don't want Peace, they want Israel, Jew Free. (Judenrein). However, with people all over the world becoming more and more anti-Israel (call it anti-Semitic if you prefer) every day it is only a matter of time that the so-called "Israel friendly" governments will be forced by their electorate to change their policy towards Israel. Support for Israel is losing ground in the US and with open conflict between Netanyahu and Obama, Israel is facing the most anti-Israel US Administration ever. Some on the far right say "tell them to go to hell! Tell the EU, the UK, Russia, China, Japan, Taiwan, Thailand, South America, in fact, the world to go to hell!” If we do this we will be totally isolated. So what do we do? I don't have the answer and the other Talkbackers don't have the answer either. I don’t think that Peres has the answer either but, he like all of us, has the right of freedom of speech. The only fact is that if we do antagonize the world then we are in for a very hard time, financially and economically and violence which is the only way that the Arabs know, will follow. The man who holds the key is Netanyahu and he must decide if his right wing support is more important than the future of his country, the future of our children and the future of the Jewish people. We can only hope that he will make the right decision for all our sakes.

"Only a fool learns from his own mistakes. The wise man learns from the mistakes of others." - Otto von Bismarck It seems as if Simon Peres is not even able to learn from his own mistakes.
