1. For once I agree with the courts
Gee ,   Zikron Yaakov   (06.20.11)
Now are they going to apply this same ruling to Arab villages? I bet not
2. Of course it's discriminatory! Happens here in Judea too.
Brian Cohen ,   Judean Peoples Front   (06.20.11)
Yep, my neighboring towns have "Are-you-a-good-enough-Jew" committees to allow in only "Kosher" Jews. No doubt they all quote rabbis and tracts from here to Uman to justify themselves.
3. Why would u want to live in a community that does not want u
Rebecca Johnstone ,   Modiin   (06.20.11)
Community is the operative word here. Why would you want to live in a community that does not want you? Only reason I can think of is that you want to destroy the community, that you want to make a political statement. That's not what communities are about. Communities are about like minded people living together in harmony.
4. Rebecca Johnstone #3 I disagree
Gee ,   Zikron Yaakov   (06.20.11)
Those are not communities that you describe but ghettos. A community is a series of compromise for the general benefit of all. Do I want to destroy ghettos - yes I do because that is just another term for racism. I strongly oppose these ghettos regardless of purpose, religion or race. I spent my life to protect the rights of all Israelis, I oppose anything that takes those rights away from me, you cannot take my rights away from me without a fight. I want the right to live anywhere in the land of Israel that I can afford to do, regardless if I actually want to live there or not. I am not less of an Israeli than anybody else.
5. #4Gee.THAT'S A BIT STRONG.
Ian ,   Newcastle upon Tyne   (06.20.11)
A voluntary community of like-minded people isn't a ghetto;it might be a retreat from reality, but it is not a ghetto. People have all sorts of reasons for retreating into communities and they are not all sinister. People might just want to live in an environment where there won't be friction between themselves and others with totally different ideas;not religious enough or too religious, too materialist, etc People might simply be getting on a bit and want to live somewhere that they won't be troubled by children.Should they be FORCED to live with young families with children? Ease off a bit. THREE CHEERS FOR ISRAEL!!!
6. #4 You have a right to live in there...
Dr. Mudkips   (06.20.11)
...because? Because you say so? If people launch a private community where only infertile couples can live, are you going to take your kids and barge in because it's your "right"? Who has an obligation to accept you and why? What makes you think you have a right to impose yourself on others? What if you went to a gay bar, would you be mad at all the people hitting on you? What if you went to a village full of vegans and cracked out a BBQ in the middle? People have a right to associate freely, and a right to exclude from this association people they do not deem worthy. It is not discrimination - because your rights aren't being violated - since you don't HAVE such rights. That Israel is so damn liberal is a shame.
