31. Stay Out of It!!
Michael ,   Connecticut, USA   (06.20.11)
Pollard is an American citizen convicted of espionage against America, his country, while in a position of trust. Israel's only connection is that it instigated his crime against the US and benefited from that crime. It's none of Israel's affair or that of its citizens how we deal with traitors.

Do you remember the russian spy ring just a few months ago? They are back in Russia, free and happy. Why don't you use your brain?

Jane   (06.20.11)
He did. He allowed Obama to become president, and Obama then betrayed the US and threw its greatness down the toilet.
34. Are we so justice mined that we forgot how to show mercy?

Give them this right that they don't allow him to participate in funeral.because other prisoners will expect too.america can't gave motivation(releasing spies) to other for doing something like this.america is strict because doesn't want to see this action is being done by others.guys just hope america release him.if we insist to our rallies for pollard, they will do it.
36. dear god.....
Avi ,   New Yersey   (06.20.11)
what happened to sanity and reason? I am convident enought to state that everyone who truly thinks Barack Obama is anti-semite, is suffering from utter ignorance. No doubt his policy is bad for the USA, but I don't really see the danger he put Israel in, other than providing Bibi with some long overdue criticism, and rightly so because Israel's policies cost the american taxpayer loads of money and leaves America with few friends. Where are the american interests here? But thankfully I know the average jew/israeli is much smarter than the bleating cattle over here......
37. According 2 strict Jewish law...
Abigail ,   Israel   (06.20.11)
for a deceased parent one is required to be sure that someone is taking care of the burial. and one is required to sit shiva. In other words the spy Pollard needs to sit shiva for his father. He didn't need to be present for the funeral. the rest is just cheeky right wing commentary! Most of which falls under the category of verbal sewage and waste!
38. wow keeping him out of his father's funeral that's just
masrawy ,   egypt   (06.20.11)
cold inhumane and uncalled for if you're afraid that he'll run away just send two police me
39. so now the Pollards are curing cancer? Just proves my point.
mea   (06.20.11)
And my point is this guy (and apparently his family) should never be released onto the celebrity prisoner lecture circuit. Loose cannon. Political suicide. Listen if the most pro-Israeli president in history would not release him in eight years in office why on earth would the most anti-Israel president do it? Doing the self righteous super whine and making declaration about how Morris Pollard too a routine vaccination trail shot (probably wanted the $5.00) demonstrates the need to never allow this freak show on the road. Pollard's record is what will decide this case, not the Esther Pollard marry a prisoner become rich and Jewish school of charm and marketeerting.

Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (06.20.11)
There is no parole in the United States (federal) justice system. It would take a pardon to release Pollard, or a new trial -- which I think he deserves.

Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (06.20.11)
It's the disproportionate nature of his sentencing that is the issue, dear. It is also problematic that he was sentenced by U.S. District Court Justice Aubrey Robinson, whose anti-Semitism is notorious. There was a plea agreement in place which would have seen Pollard sentenced to ten years; but federal judges do have the right to toss out or ignore plea agreements, and this one did. Pollard is also serving his sentence in solitary confinement in one of the most brutal federal penitentiaries in the United States. He is kept under more rigorous conditions that Ramzi Yussef, Aldrich Ames, Robert Hanson and the Unabomber. He was NOT paid for his services, by the way. His espionage was ideologically based. He chose to do what he did because he was perfectly placed to see how much the United States was doing for Arab and Moslem states who were nowhere as loyal to the United States as is Israel.
49. To: No. 27
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (06.20.11)
Unlike Alger Hiss, Whittaker Chambers, the Walker family, Aldrich Ames, or Robert Hansen -- to name but a few -- Jonathan Pollard did not take a single dime.
50. No. 36 Avi
(06.20.11)
First of all, Israel in no way costs the American taxpayer loads of money since foreign aid only constitutes a tiny fraction (less than 1% to be precise) of our expenditures. Not only that, but Israel purchases all its weapons from U.S. companies, so trying telling people working in the defense industry that Israel is bleeding us. And, frankly, if you're going to whine about taxpayer money, start whining about what Egypt and Pakistan are getting, and we can't trust either of those countries as far as we can spit.

cold hearted moshe, I hope you never come to Israel.

Dr No ,   Holon   (06.20.11)
Be Aware of the USA and join China and India the enxt Empires. The USA will sell Israel in the blink of major Interest. Yom Kippor war was not a surprise (New-angle.org). The PLO was funded with funds transfered from the USA
53. Ben Jabo, like him or hate him....
Malone ,   Hfx   (06.20.11)
was right on the money the other day when he said that if Pollard was black,he would have been freed as soon as the muslim in chief was sworn in.

Thanks Sarah.
55. To: No. 2
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (06.20.11)
He was charged with espionage, not treason. No one has been tried for treason in the United States since Aaron Burr in 1803. It's because the United States Supreme Court is the court of original jurisdiction for treason trials.
56. To: No. 5
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (06.20.11)
Really? How do you account for the fact that Julius and Ethel Rosenberg (z.l.) were executed, but Whittaker Chambers, Alger Hiss, the Walkers, Aldridge Ames and Robert Hanson -- far more damaging spies -- were not? Hmm?
57. To: No. 19
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (06.20.11)
That is a vicious lie. The information obtained by Pollard was never revealed to a single country other than Israel. If it found its way to the Soviet Union, it was because Aldrich Ames, who formulated the charges, was a Soviet mole -- a very damaging one.
58. Let the dogs barkt, but he stays in jail till he dies.

59. The worst realy american spy for the ussr got 19 years, but
Oslumuh ,   DC US   (06.20.11)
this "spy" for an ally gets 26 and counting, in solitary confinement!! No american lives were lost on pollards end, unlike the spy for the ussr........... this screams of US state department secrets that would be very embarrasing for key US officials. Coverups and scapegoats, worse to allies than foes. What a travesty of justice! even the cia directors of the past and congressman involved in the case have called out for his release...
60. Bibi knows who to call
Avi   (06.20.11)
If pollard was an authorized spy for Israel then the government must formally negotiate with the Americans the terms of a swap or release. Otherwise he sits there till his release date in 2015. Just as in the case of moving the embassy there is no indication that Republicans will have a lesser price than Democrats. Over the years the foreign policy right has been hard nosed on this issue
