31. When will Norway go broke?
Mark ,   USA   (06.22.11)
Here's hoping that after Norway goes Islamic that the country follows Greece and goes broke! Couldn't happen to a better bunch of Quislings.
32. To #24 Bored Salma
John ,   Alaska   (06.22.11)
If hearing the truth about how Norway hates Jews, I'm sure that Al Jazeera will have something you will like. If you feel like anti-semitism (in the real, Webster's Dictionary usage as anti-Jew) is discussed too much, perhaps you would understand that someone at your throat demands your attention. You would prefer, I am sure, that the Jews politely ignore your seething hatred, at least long enough for you to finish the job you started in 1948. Well, that ain't gonna happen. When you threaten Jews, expect Jews to notice. When you attack Jews, expect Jews to defend themselves.
33. #14 et al; Point of Order
solomon ,   bklyn   (06.22.11)
Point of Order: Regardless of what is happening now, it should not be forgotten that during WW2 Sweden accepted any Jews that could reach its borders (unlike Switzerland), especially during the Dutch evacuation of the Jews. Without Sweden, the Dutch Jews would have had no place to go. Chaim Nachman Bialik even wrote a poem about it. Give credit where credit is due.

Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (06.22.11)
Since I am certain that keeping you from getting is the first and foremost concern of all the contributors to this Forum, I will change the subject. Have you thought about where in Jordan (or Gaza) you will live when (that's WHEN; not if) we throw your incredibly stupid and insensitive @$$ out of Medinat Israel? There! Is that better?
35. To: Mark at No. 31
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (06.22.11)
When the North Sea oil runs out (about ten years from now), Norway will go back to being what it has always been: the second poorest country in Europe. (Possibly the poorest; depending upon how things are going in Albania.)
36. Norway going broke? How?
Ameridane ,   Aarhus, Denmark   (06.22.11)
Norway got a lot of oil, far too much for a country of 4 millions or so. And it all thanks to stupid drunkard Danish Foreign minister moved the demarcation of the continental shelf a couple of degrees to the south and gave 90% of the oil fields to the Norwegians. The reason why I think that Norway is antisemitic is due to their adherence to the strict lessons at school of Lutheranism.
37. Re: My post at No. 34
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (06.22.11)
First line -- after the word "getting," insert "bored." Apologies to all (except Salma, because I really don't care if she took offense).
38. Shoshana in Norway #1
Israeli 2   (06.22.11)
Are you saying that the Norwegians and the Swedes are slimy cowards? Of course they are...we knew that all along.
39. # 33 point of order
J.K. ,   Brooklyn USA   (06.22.11)
solomon ! your order is wrong,100,000 Dutch Jews were killed by the Germans, they did not escape to sweden, you probably mean the 2500or so Danish Jews who were smuggled on fishing boats into sweden, you judge people by what they do today, not what they did in the past, sweden and the other scandinavian countries have become members of the muslim brotherhood, than, switzerland took in 18 000 Jewish refugees,Chaim Nachman Bialik couldn't have written a poem about the evacuation of the Danish Jews, because Bialik died in the twenties.
40. Hard time in Norway
Thomas ,   Bergen, Norway   (06.23.11)
I do support Israel, but it is not very easy in todays Norway. The opinion and people in government support the arabs, and people are afraid of opposing the muslims because they are using violence. After the Muhammed cartoons they started violence in our capital and threatens to kill those opposing them (they actually tried to kill them). Norway has been living with peace for 60 years, and to many have forgotten what freedom really is. What we really do is giving our peace and freedom away, because we are afraid. Shalom - I love Israel!
41. Regarding the picture in this story
Mr. Norwegian ,   Oslo, Norway   (06.23.11)
In the picture connected to this story you can see a group of people with Israeli flags, those are (mostly) old people that still remember the Holocaust, and do support Israel, and they are brave and not afraid to say so - thats why they are there! Those on the other side of the police cars are muslims and other radicals that try to attack the pro Israel demonstrators. They use violence, and this is very effective in Norway. Politicians and others are extremely afraid of being inpolite towards this radicals, and do not meet them with the strong hand they should be met with... I dont know were this will end.. The picture is taken in Olso I do believe.
42. #39 jk
solomon ,   bklyn   (06.23.11)
I stand corrected on most (not all) counts. Thank you. 1. Yes, I meant Danish Jews and the Danes. 2. True. The poem The Swedish Language, was written by Natan Alterman. 3. I was commenting on #14's sentence "The Swedes were too busy selling ball bearings to the Nazi's to stand up for ANYTHING (emphasis mine) decent during WWII." Accepting and helping any Jews who were able to get to Sweden, is a very big "anything" to ignore. We Jews wish to be judged not only on what we do today, but what happened in the past (There were Jewish Kingdoms way before the arab conquest, Jews (mainly from what was called Palestine and is now Israel) fought Hitler alongside the allies ) mainly in the British Army, etc. If we want others to remember what we did in the past so we should remember what others did in the past. Recognizing the reality of today while acknowledging what people or nations did in the past is not a matter of convenience. Give credit where credit is due.
43. Sandra
Michael Pielet ,   boca raton, Israel   (06.23.11)
Please tell the arabs to stop murdering little Jewish babies with knives. How can we jews steal what has always belonged to the jewish people and only the jewish people, the land of israel. why don't you deal with your own Belgium problems, tell the flemish to stop oppressing the walloons and vice-versa. sandra you are just another ignorant anti-semite. get with it babe.
44. Sandra #19
Abie Dee ,   New York, NY   (06.23.11)
How about YOU stop repeating the same old lies. What land was it they stole exactly. Are you so ignorant as to think that Jews hadn't been living there uninterrupted for 2000 yrs...way longer than the Arabs ? There has NEVER been an Arab nation called Palestine... In fact the only 2 times in history that a nation with borders has existed in this area in 2000 years were both times a Jewish nation...once in biblical times and the other in modern history. So stop spreading lies and pick up a history book and learn before you open your mouth.
45. Anti-Jew and anti-Israel sentiments in Norway flourish, desp
(06.23.11)
46. Anti gentile discrimation is far more prevalent in Israel
Chas.   (06.23.11)
Anti-Arab and anti-Palestinian sentiments flourish despite local denials.
47. #14 #28 you cant even spell Swede (Sweede??), yet comment.
Adam   (06.23.11)
You're commenting as if you know more than just want you read in a newspaper. I can spell in English and it's my fourth language after Swedish, Hebrew and Yiddish, can you say the same? I'm just trying to understand your IQ really, as you so far failed. I am a Swedish Jew. I should know.. Life is good, it is fine. Headlines, dramatic headlines and stupid surveys. I read a survey that 75% of Americans have a McDonalds 4 nights a week and 70% dont even have a passport. Is this all true? Actually, it probably is. Am Y'Israel!
48. Try again sarge...
Valder ,   Ă…lesund Norway   (06.23.11)
As much as i totally agree with the fact that it is a lot of anti semitism in this kingdom, but there are allso many of us whom loves Israel.. I just got back from there.. And family members of mine died to save Norwegian jews. There was allso a lot of Swedish resistance. We have a much longer war history then your precious usa.. btw sargent, im 20 years old and love Israel.. Not even a christian.
49. What
Odin ,   Norway   (06.23.11)
are you talking about? Going broke? This is the richest country in the world so a long long time after yours.. And are you calling all of us Quisling?? What about those of us whom love and support Israel? Go eat a cheesburger....
50. My Family is Making Aliyah Next Year BECAUSE
EZ ,   US   (06.23.11)
WE LOVE OUR JEWISH FAMILY AND ISRAEL AND WE WILL FLOURISH WITH THEM AND WITHOUT ANTI-SEMITISM. Issues like the one covered in this article clearly outlines valid reasons for considering Aliyah and helping to build our great nation and re-establish it's beauty on OUR gorgeous land. I have NO DOUBTS that the majority of Europeans in general are VERY Anti-Semitic: what baffles me beyond understanding is how ANY Jew could even CONSIDER living ANYWHERE in Europe. It's just an extreme mishuggas or something because purposely planting yourself among a people whove ALWAYS treated u barbarically is simply incomprehensible for anyone with a fleck of intelligence or wisdom. Norway has nothing to offer the Jews, nor does Europe: go visit Canada or the US Cor vacation but Israel has all a Jew could ever want or need right there...even with the hateful Arabs mulling about. They're NOTHING compared to Europe. Chai Yisrael!
51. to #3 Noam Chomsky gots no academic degree
ghostq   (06.23.11)
in political sciense, he only got Logistics degree, meaning if you want your truks to get to their finall destination call him, but political wise he practice his own opinions only, he isn't Historian nor he ever learned History as academice degree, he sadly buy this Scharletan crap.
52. 49 - Not surprising ,...
split   (06.23.11)
Easy to point a finger at others - The Swedes don't love you and no wonder why ? Sweden's envoy to Hungary Raul Wallenberg during WW II saved a thousands of Hungarian Jews and paid with his life for it because he knew to much about zionist's deals with Nazis. In return the Stern Gang murdered Wallenberg's countryman, F. Bernadotte, a UN mediator betwen Jews and Arabs in Jerusalem on September 1948. The Norwegians got screwed up dealing with zionist by selling them nuclear fuel for "peaceful" purposes that was used to develop Israel's nuclear arsenal. The Finns that got stabbed in their backs by Jewish collaborators selling them out to Soviets in '39 ,... Do some soul search instead pointing a finger at others ,...
53. 47 - 47. #14 #28 you cant even spell Swede
split ,   US   (06.23.11)
If you were a little brighter dude you wouldn't include me with the idiot I have cited in my headline at 28. ,...
54. Let the Jewish teens go to a highschool here
StoutViking ,   Israel   (06.23.11)
Then they'll be beaten up on a regular basis, 3-4 times a week, not month, and then called "Nazis".
55. Not so much about Anti-Semitism, but...
Erik ,   Norway   (06.23.11)
The problem with Norway's attitude towards Israel isnt primarilly anti-semitism, though it exist among Muslims, the right and leftwing, but the fact that people are horribly misinformed about the conflict and it has always been popular to side with the underdog (the Palestinians)
56. berlonski, berlin #3
Robert Haymond ,   Israel/Canada   (06.23.11)
You forgot to mention that your beloved Chomsky, once disallowed to enter Israel, immediately went to Lebanon where he visited his ally, Nasan Nasrullah. where he (Chomsky) was feted. In other words, Chomsky proved once again that he was an enemy of Israel. We don't love being liberal so much, berlonski, that we will allow ourselves to be duped, deceived, used and defeated all in the name of goodwill. We are no longer the Jews of your beloved Berlin, berlonski; get used to it.
57. Anti semitism in norway
debbie ,   israel   (06.23.11)
TO STOUT VIKING, I have no idea what you're talking about. I just put three children through the Israeli school system from gan at 2 years old til the end of high school, and never once were my children or their friends beaten up or taunted for any reason. Yes, we live in one of the "better neighborhoods", the neighborhoods that Israelis are always putting down for being rich, and for not going to the army. I want to enlighten you that the all the kids I've come in contact with in this "rich" neighborhood, are close with their families, pleasant, respectful, serious students, hardworking, involved in activities, and all went to the army, and worked. I don't know where in Israel you are referring to where students get beaten up on a daily basis. OY!
58. They bring it upon themselves
Diederik S ,   Leuven Belgium   (06.23.11)
Why do all jewish people seem to care more about Israel than the country they live in? Their systematic complaining about anything they perceive as being 'anti jewish', from stand-up comedy, satirical programs to an item about hitler's favourite food, is exactly the same tactic that the extreme-right Vlaams blok in belgium used to discourage critical news items. I remember when Oriana Fallaci wrote her four page racist pamphlet the rage and the pride. Imagine my surprise to find that text published on more than 100 sites, always without any headers or navigation. Only by looking at the URLs could you tell it were all jewish websites. You reap what you sow, indeed.
59. Oslo is like saudi arabia...
cj ,   paris france   (06.23.11)
Went to Oslo and was amazed at the number of veils and beards. No blue eyed blonde to be seen on the streets of Oslo, but, a lot of muslims spitting on the streets as it was ramadam time when I last visited the place. Oslo is not the pleasant city they would like you to believe. Over priced and unfriendly to boot.
60. #58 diederik
solomon ,   bklyn   (06.23.11)
Wrong. We do care about the countries we live in. But another country that we also care deeply about, Israel, is under an existential threat of being annihilated, and is vilified and condemned at every turn a) Unjustly so b) Other countries that go so far as kill their own are rarely mentioned; in fact many are on the UNHRC! We also have a history showing the worst CAN happen and did. We are reaping what many others are sowing, and we don't like the harvest. Better ask those who sow.
