There is a difference between freedom of speech and hate speech, just as there is a difference between free expression and license. Do you think you are free to shout "Fire!" in a crowded theatre? Similarly, slander (spoken defamation) and libel (published defamation) should not be tolerated. And Israel has had to tolerate a great deal of that -- how else can you characterize the constant threatening rhetoric that emanates from Teheran and other places? Entities or individuals should not be allowed to use the internet as a bully pulpit to preach anti-Semitism and anti-Zionism. The Internet has few controls, but Apple did the right thing. Perhaps scientists in Lebanon -- or some other Arab or Islamic country -- can work on inventing their version of the iPad and iPhone, and then you can put whatever application you like on the product of your brain trust. Kudos to Apple.

It is against the law to incite violence - which "incite violence" is simply a PC way of saying "kill Israelis". That's some great logic you got going on in your head.

This isn't a free speech issue, as Apple can set rules for what's approved within its own application space. No doubt this app slipped through because some reviewer of Arab background (the app is in Arabic) no doubt sympathized with the message it sends - that Israel can be targeted with violence. Apple properly dropped it not just because it was the right thing to do but because being linked with incitement to violence would have damaged Apple's brand - perhaps the most valuable in the world. They have standards. Don't like them? Go write for Android or Blackberry.
